Is there a way to take low-resolution pictures on Android?

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5, and with the native camera app, the smallest possible picture size is a 2.4MB image at 2028x1152 pixels. However, for the purposes of capturing images for flashcards I use in Ankidroid , that size is too large. The storage volume adds up quickly, and the files are slow to move around the network. What I really want is to take pictures in the realm of 640x480 pixels or so. I don't need high quality, I need small, quick, and disposable. **Are there any camera apps, or any other methods, where I can take low-resolution images?** My search of the Google Play Store indicates that almost all camera apps aspire to take the biggest, sharpest, highest resolution pictures possible.

When I wanted to copy some photos and videos from my Samsung Galaxy S to my PC, I noticed that inside the photos folder (DCIM\Camera), there are a lot of files with the extension dup0. They have the same filename as the photos/movies (e.g., img1.jpg and img1.dup0), but not for every photo does a dup0 file exist. The dup0 files are quite small for photos (e.g., photos are about 1.5 MB, dup0 files about 50 kB), but for movies, they can be quite large (e.g., 16 MB for an 18 MB movie). What are these files for? Can they be deleted to free some space?

I would like to backup over 100 GB of photos and videos stored on an Android phone to a local external drive (SSD or HDD). Unfortunately, the Android phone does not have a microSD card (which would make this task trivial). I do not want to upload anything to the cloud. As a first attempt, I connected the Android phone via USB 3.x to a Windows 11 box using the MTP protocol. I also connected an external SSD via USB 3.x to that same box. I configured FreeFileSync to copy the desired folders, and began the copying process. After about 5 minutes of process stabilization, FreeFileSync reported that it would take another 2 days to complete the operation! That's no good. What's the fastest way to complete this task? It's important that, if possible, file timestamps are preserved (in addition to Exif timestamps, of course). I would prefer to use a Windows 11 box for the transfers, but I can instead use a Linux box if Windows is the problem. In this particular case, the Android device is a Google Pixel 6 phone, but I would like to be able to quickly handle the same task for other devices, including Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Sony phones.

How does WhatsApp's Delete For Everyone work for photos?
In WhatsApp, when the sender deletes a photo for everyone from their side, does it permanently deleted from my phone, or are they still there on my phone? If it was there, are they recoverable by the data recovery app downloaded from Play Store? The phone is not rooted.

Why is the camera/photo quality of 2021 Moto G Stylus 5G worse than my 2016 Samsung Galaxy S7?

I just upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S7 (2016) to Moto G Stylus 5G (2021). Moto G Stylus 5G 2021 has 4 cameras advertising a 48MP camera - but to my jaw-dropping surprise, the quality of pictures coming out of this 2021 camera is nearly equivalent, on the worse side than my S7. When I zoom into the pictures (I have made sure conditions are normalized and equivalent for taking the photos for each camera), the S7 images for the same 12MP resolution look sharper and clearer hands down. What good are the additional 3 cameras on Moto G? Where is the rest of the power of this 48MP camera (vs S7's lone 12MP sensor)? What could be the reason for this surprising lack of improvement (more like digression) from the 2016 technology with far fewer sensors? I am completely baffled. Am I missing something fundamental about perhaps limitations posed by the Android OS on the camera systems (I have tried every conceivable camera setting, so that's not an issue)? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am using a Samsung A33. I have backup turned on in Google Photos (V7.11) and it has duly created a backup of all my photos on Google Drive. I recently deleted a large number of unwanted photo files from my phone, but it seems that Photos does not sync with the backup by also removing them from Google Drive. Can someone tell me how I can make this happen, as these deleted files no longer need to be backed up? (NB, I did not delete the files using Google Photos, but rather by connecting my phone to my PC and deleting the files. Perhaps this was a mistake.)

Do photos survive a factory reset (Android)?

I recorded some blank videos and then a factory reset. Another x2 factory reset. (I didn't have screen lock) I know, Oreo is FBE but I still don't know if those encrypted files remain there or are deleted via garbage collection with the use of the phone. My real question is this: in 6 months will those stupid encrypted files still be on the phone or will they have already been removed? Will they be there forever inaccessible?

For various reasons, I often end up pulling photos of my phones by connecting the USB connection to a computer and extracting what I need. The problem I am facing is that my DCIM/100ANDRO folder is now **huge**, and simply loading the full list of files takes considerable time. Is there some way (ideally in basic Android 7.1.1, but additional apps are acceptable) to sort these in to separate folders possibly by month of taking or similar. Onus points if this happens dynamically as photos are taken. I'd also be interested in alternatives to the USB -> browse device options, but I'd want something that does full resolution, doesn't upload to an internet location first, and doesn't require bluetooth.

(I believe in iOS these are called "Live Photos" and maybe Google call them "Motion Photos"?) Anyway, one of these little clips that it made is kind of fun and I want to share it. But when I use the share panel it just wants to give me the main still photo instead of the video clip. I found the "Shots in this photo" but again that is just individual stills. Is there a way to share the *video* that it shows on a loop, as a video without choosing individual photos?

I needed to format my phone completely, so I connected it and copied all my photos and music to a location on my PC (running Linux if that is pertinent). After formatting my phone, I reconnected it to my PC and transferred everything back to it's original location. This appears to have modified the created timestamp of all the files to the time at which they were copied to my PC, which is wreaking havoc with how they are displayed, e.g. in Google messages app when I open my gallery to send a photo to someone, it's showing photos from 10 years ago at the top. The modified timestamp appears to be correct. Is there any way to rectify this issue at this point or have I put myself in a predicament? Example file metadata: enter image description here P.S. I'm not sure if Android Enthusiasts is the right forum to pose this question in but I'm a bit lost. If this belongs elsewhere please point me in the right direction.

On vacation, we took a lot of portrait photos in a short period of time. We looked at the last picture taken outside, and it came out perfect. We then went inside to take some more. After taking some more, when reviewing various photos, I noticed one photo (not the "perfect" one) had the work "Processing" message at the bottom. I didn't think too much about that, until that evening when reviewing all the photos, and the perfect photo didn't show up. Nor was it synced to Google Photos. The Google Photos app said "2 files remaining to back up" (or similar). Checking the next day, all files processed; no "perfect" photo on phone, nor on Google Photos. I checked my "Trash" folder in Google, the Files app on the phone, and plugged my phone into my computer via USB, and browsed the internal storage of my phone via Windows Explorer. No luck. I checked the "Locked" folder on my phone to see if I somehow had it switched to store in the "Locked" folder and it was not there. Any other possible places to explore? Was this a rare bug I hit? Phone: Google Pixel 8 Pro, Android 14.
