How to recover all data from a phone which turns off after a minute?
I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro. It turned off, and the only way to turn it on is to force boot it, but it turns back off after around a minute. All `adb` permissions are enabled and the device is not rooted.

It used to show up in Google Drive, but now it doesn’t. That means the backup has expired i guess.
Is there any way to recover that expired backup?

I recently recorded a 4-minute odd video on my Realme 13 pro+ running Android 15 and Realme UI 6.0
The video was recorded, and I even took snapshots while it was being recorded. The snapshots were saved in the gallery, but to my surprise, the video was not saved at all.
I even double-checked that the video was being recorded. The snapshot button only appears when the video is being recorded; hence, there is no doubt whether the video button was pressed or not.
Is there any way I can recover the video?
I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks.

But WhatsApp still has to store media in some location, otherwise, how would it show in chats? I am able to access the media while scrolling through a WhatsApp chat, even while offline, so the media is definitely getting stored somewhere on my phone. Can I access this location? I have to access many media files that WhatsApp must have downloaded somewhere on my phone.
I am using parallel WhatsApp on my One Plus 5 Android phone. It creates a "999" directory under emulated.

I am on a Fairphone 3 and run /e/os 1.9.
# Background #
I recently started to run out of disk space each time one of my apps (Signal messenger) started to create a new backup, as my free space was not large enough to accommodate a new backup file. Yesterday I turned off the phone when I saw that the "little storage left" notification came up and the backup was running, and put a brand new micro SD card in the phone that I had meant to set up since a while.
After powering up the phone again, the notification for low storage was (non-surprisingly) still showing, alongside with one for the new SD card. When I opened the SD card I saw that a lot of empty folders had been creating, mirroring the ones in my internal storage. The phone also started to vibrate repeatedly and showed "No log (file) could be created" in a small popup on the bottom of the screen. I decided to ignore that and try to move some files from the internal storage to the SD card to free up some space. After a short while, the phone crashed and rebooted into recovery.
# Problem #
When I power up the phone, it boots into recovery, showing this screen:
Recovery
Version 1.9 ()
Active slot: a
Can't load Android system. Your data
may be corrupt. If you continue to get
this message, you may need to perform
a factory data reset and erase all
user data stored on this device.
> Try again
Factory data reset
I can also navigate back into a recovery menu.
When I select *try again*, the phone starts up as normal. I get then to unlock my SIM. However, as soon as try to unlock the normal lock screen for the first time, the phone will crash.
If I just try to unlock the screen, an empty home screen will show for a moment, before my normal home screen loads (I use lawnchair as a launcher, which is not /e/os default). Then, sometimes a popup comes saying *??? launcher crashes all the time*, partially obscured by an other popup saying *Power off*. The phone will then reboot into the recovery.
If I try to directly go to the settings page by swiping down and clicking the settings shortcut, that page is shown for a second or two before the phone also powers off and reboots into recovery.
If I click on the "Out of storage" notification, the same thing happens.
**I would really like to prevent losing my data.**
# What I have tried so far #
It appears like I can't do anything after unlocking my phone, as it will reboot directly.
I have gone through the recovery and fastboot menus, trying to find anything that could be of help. I was able to activate ADB and browse around in the file system using
shell
, but none of my personal files where accessible and there was apparently a lot of space available on that partition. I was also able to *mount system* from an option in the recovery. Even this partition showed only 73% disk usage. It was also read-only, so I was not able to remove any files. The sdcard folder in both /
and /mnt/system/
was empty.
The recovery also gives me the option to install an update, e.g. via adb sideload. I have not tried that, since I don't know how to do so and if it will give me access to my personal data.
# What to do now? #
If this would be a computer, I would use a live linux system to run
and similar tools to identify and repair the corrupted data and to free up some disk space. Is it possible to do something similar with my phone, for example using adb?
Is there any way to access/recover and possibly back up my personal data?

My elderly neighbor held onto her Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) for years till it recently stopped responding all of a sudden to her touches. It still charges fine and the display exhibits no issues, but the touchscreen is totally unresponsive despite repeated reboots. I'm guessing the touch digitizer is dead? Anyway, I've convinced her it's pointless to waste money repairing it and to simply get a new device.
Since there weren't too many apps in use (most apparently stopped working over time on what must've been either Lollipop or Marshmallow), those aren't the issue here. What is required is to extract the bare minimum but very important data from the phone like **pictures, videos, contacts and messages (SMSes)**, and finally import everything into a new Android phone.
So my question is, is any of this even possible with a completely unresponsive touchscreen? And if so, how?

My Android HTC Magic was lost/stolen last night. I had an unlock swipe code, power-on SIM code and have called the phone company and had it blocked, so not too concerned about the phone itself being used by someone else.
What I am thinking about is when I get a new phone, what data/info can I get back easily as I can't just copy it from the old phone now? Obviously GMail/Contacts/Calendar are all stored on the web, any purchased apps are linked to my Market login, and I'm not concerned about photos, music etc that were on the SD card.
What I'm more concerned about are my preferences, settings, SMS texts, list of installed apps, prefs, data from those apps, etc. Are those all gone?
Addendum: I was thinking of rooting the phone, so did take a standard Nandroid backup a week ago that I have a copy of on my PC, if I get an identical model of phone and restore that, will my data come back? Also what happens if I try to restore that onto a different model of phone (I'm assuming bad things would happen)?

My Alcatel Android decided not to boot.
It starts and says "Alcatel" then just flashes "enjoy now" about 60 times until Android Recovery.
TCL/5003D_EEA/Curie
8.1.0/0PM2.171019.012/5003D_ALGB_V2.3
If I click "try again" I get Android Error and it then starts the reboot process again.
I can access Android Recovery by removing and reinserting the battery, holding down Power Button, both Volume Up and Volume Down all together, once it says "Alcatel" releasing all of them, it then enters Android Recovery.
I have tried "reboot now, I have tried Wipe Cache partition". What is my next move please?
Are the recovery logs useful for anyone to help me?

**Context**, in case anyone believes I'm trying to do this for nefarious purposes. I have a Samsung Galaxy A12 running Android 11. Long story short, two years ago I shattered my phone's screen, I was already planning to change up the phone so, yes I was a little bummed out.
Recently, I fixed the screen. I wanted to access some old files that I had in there, but I can't remember the password. It's a fairly long password, so it wouldn't be easy to remember after 2 years.
I decided that maybe I can try to recover some videos and pictures, but apparently I didn't have USB debugging on in the past, or maybe it disabled on its own. It should have Dev options on though.
I went to recovery mode and tried to
mount /system
, but it also gives me
failed to open /dev/block/dm-0 no such file or directory
mounted /system
and even after spamming it to the point it just says **mounted /system**.
When I type
adb pull /data/property/persist.sys.usb.config ~/
it just says
adb: error: failed to get feature set: no devices/emulators found
I have also tried to switch USB ports, but nothing.
Overall, I'm confused, don't know what I'm doing anymore, much less how to fix things.

I have my very first smart phone - a Samsung Galaxy Y (2011 Android 2.3) - in hand and i wanna access it in a timecapsule kind of way to look around but its pattern locked.
So the issues:
- Gmail password is out of sync. No internet connection. Can i get in sync?
- Computer doesnt regonize the device. Assuming its a security thing because its locked. Can i get around it? If so might be able to use ADB or other software.
- Unable to install outside software from sd card. Gives out different error messages. Can go in detail if needed.
Im so lost and hope to get the data out. Its the only valuable thing about the phone.

I accidentally uninstalled WhatsApp on my Samsung Galaxy A53 (running Android 14 / One UI 6) and unchecked "Keep app data" during the process. Unfortunately, I had neither a Google Drive backup nor a local WhatsApp backup at that time.
However, about a month before this happened, I had created a Samsung Smart Switch backup to my Mac. I explored the backup folder but couldn't find any com.whatsapp directory or .crypt14 database files, so it seems Smart Switch didn't include WhatsApp’s app data.
I am primarily looking to recover:
1. WhatsApp chat history
2. Photos, videos, and documents shared via WhatsApp
I would prefer to avoid rooting my device, but I am open to it only as a last resort. So far, I’ve encountered paid tools like Dr.Fone, iMyFone D-Back, and Tenorshare UltData, but I'm not sure if they can help me out.
Is there any realistic method to recover deleted WhatsApp data without rooting, especially using Smart Switch, or file recovery tools?
If not, what’s the safest and most effective way to proceed with rooting and data recovery?
Any guidance or verified success stories would be much appreciated.

Some bad cleaner app deletes all my photos stored in a directory(folder) which is created manually by myself (for example,
/sdcard/myphoto/
).
I tried some photo recovery apps. But none of them recovered those photos and none of them provides a feature to recover photos from a specific directory. All recovery apps just scan the entire memory and restore all deleted photos once. (Actually most recovered photos are not deleted at all. I have no ideas why they are recovered... Anyway)
Are there any ways to recover deleted photos from a specific directory in non-rooted device? I am explicitly sure which directory those photos are, and I just want those photos only.
Thank you very much.
PS: I know there are questions about photo recovery. But mine is different. The main focus of this question is **"from a specific directory"**.

Is there any way to extract the files to PC? I couldn't see file header mentioned here . Another user referred a method , which I couldn't understand.
- Android 5.1
- TWRP installed
- Rooted
- FAT32 internal & SD card.
- Tried Titanium backup and it don't recognize the format.
**Edit**:
1. Tried to do a stock recovery backup and replace the files. While trying to restore stock recovery not showing SD card, although it takes backup in SD card during backup in same session.
2. 7Zip Windows opened the merged .backup file. It shows "2.ext".
3. Mounting 2.ext in Ubuntu shows nothing even though file space is occupied.
4. When trying to open 2.ext using 7zip, I see lot of files in similar name and opening them in 7zip again shows again same file names....
Now how do I recovery files from this 2.ext?

Deleted from phone's internal storage, Android 7, no root access and no other copy of the folder exists.
I checked out multiple other links, e.g:
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/93455/recover-whatsapp-messages-database-folder-deleted |
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/173256/recover-whats-app-database-files-crypt12 |

...however, the information is old or dealing with rooted devices or dealing with recovery from backups or dealing with SD cards etc none of which work for my situation.
I've also tried Tenorshare UltData, but it can't retrieve .crypt12 files.
Is there a way to recover and restore my databases/chats?

## Situation
I have an old phone, it's been replaced, but it still has some photos on I want to recover. From the symptoms I presume it must be a hardware fault, and I am wondering what options are available to me.
I have a friend who works as an embedded engineer who is willing to help me try get the photos off of it. The current possibilities they could think of are:
- Buy a cheap new screen to connect to the phone to see if we can get the UI back
- Attempt to connect via the JTAG pins and execute a script to extract the data
Are there other options? Or should we go with one of these?
## More information
If it's relevant, the phone is a Pixel XL. A possible silver lining is I was running LineageOS, so I unlocked the bootloader and was never able to re-lock it.
The symptoms at the time of death were:
- Phone would randomly restart every few weeks
- This got more and more frequent
- One day the phone restarted and never turned back on
- If I held the power button to turn it back on, the phone vibrated yet the screen never turned on
- When plugged in the red light didn't appear even though it was drawing Watts
- Forced resets (holding power and volume down button for 30+ seconds) sometimes caused a vibration but nothing ever appeared
- Plugging it into a laptop resulted in no devices being visible to the laptop (presumably I needed to enable file transfer via the UI which wasn't possible)
It's since sat in a box for 2 years and now there is no vibration whatsoever, but it does still draw current when charging. (I contacted multiple places about data recovery in the last couple of years but never received a response.)

I have a boot-looped Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100, running the Android 2.3 Gingerbread it came with, unrooted and unmodified (although Optus-branded).
The phone's battery depleted while the phone was running; now, any attempt to boot the phone results in the boot sequence looping indefinitely.
I wish to recover data from this device (before attempting to solve the boot-loop problem later via factory reset or other method).
I read the [
boot-loop
tag information](https://android.stackexchange.com/tags/boot-loop/info) but the instructions have not been helpful for me: I have tried to boot into Safe Mode, but my attempts also trigger the indefinite boot-loop; I wiped the cache via stock recovery but that had no effect; and, the last recommendation was a factory reset which I won't follow until I have recovered the data.
I believe USB Debugging is already enabled. I have an 8GB external SD card and I have Linux Mint 13 as my desktop operating system.
[This answer](https://android.stackexchange.com/a/59044/81471) indicated that it should be possible to root the phone and recover data via the [Android Debug Bridge (ADB)](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_software_development#ADB) for a different Samsung Galaxy S version, but I need instructions for the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100 if this avenue is worth pursuing.
This seems related to [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/71776/samsung-galaxy-2-stuck-at-start-up-can-i-recovery-the-phone-or-at-least-the-dat) but could be a different [variant](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II#Variants) and issue. It's not the same as [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/39316/how-to-regain-control-over-a-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-with-a-boot-loop) because I need to recover data.

First there were some lines on display, lots of parallel lines, like a GPU issue, I restarted the phone.
It worked ok for a min or two but same thing happened, then I couldn't restart normally, but had to press the volume buttons and power and hold.
It restarted but also went dead after a while with same lines showing.
Anyway after a few times it is totally dead and cant start with any combination of buttons (or vibrate) & doesn't show its charging.
Hopefully I can get data out of the phone, like images or WhatsApp local backup file. Whats the best way to try?
I considered ordering the basic tools from aliex and try at least see if something obvious is disconnected, it did fall a bunch of times.
**UPDATE**:
