WhatsApp has a Media Visibility feature which if disabled, hides the media files from the phone gallery. It is claimed that "apparently" it reduces file storage. > But WhatsApp still has to store media in some location, otherwise, how would it show in chats? I am able to access the media while scrolling through a WhatsApp chat, even while offline, so the media is definitely getting stored somewhere on my phone. Can I access this location? I have to access many media files that WhatsApp must have downloaded somewhere on my phone. I am using parallel WhatsApp on my One Plus 5 Android phone. It creates a "999" directory under emulated.

I try to flash LineageOS on a OnePlus 5 (cheeseburger). I repeatedly wiped the partitions. What I cannot manage is to adb sideload LineageOS [16.0](https://mirrorbits.lineageos.org/full/cheeseburger/20190509/lineage-16.0-20190509-nightly-cheeseburger-signed.zip) . I get this message: Starting ADB sideload feature... Installing zip file '/sideload/package.zip' Error: Vendor partition doesn't exist! I have a OnePlus 5 and it won't boot. The phone is stuck on a black screen and blue LED (can't boot) since 20 days ago, and I tried everything I saw on the web to make it boot again. I tried : - to flash the recovery with the original one - to flash the Oxygen OS and the Hydrogen OS via fastboot (authorized even with a locked bootloader) - to use MSMDownloadTool (a tool I found on the web, used by the support of OnePlus to reinstall bricked phones. ...but nothing helped. I'm now with my OP5 soft-bricked, but since I used MSMDownloadTool, it locked itself (the tool locked the bootloader) and I can't flash again with fastboot (except the official ROM but still won't boot) nor adb. I tried fastboot oem unlock but I got an error (because I can't go on the developer's options due to the phone not loading): FAILED (remote: Flashing Unlock is not allowed) If it gets you some info, I did fastboot oem device-info and got this result:

Is there any solution to be sure to write again everything on the OP5? (it seems that the MSMDownloadTool and fastboot won't erase everything as the OP5 finishes properly new installation but boot loop every time). The present state of the OP5: bootloader locked, official recovery working, official ROM installed but won't boot. I'm on Mac and Windows btw. I downloaded the latest LineageOS for my latest Device, from Dumplings SF. firmware, recovery, vendor files. What I get all the time is that error message "E1001: Failed to update system image" and that he can't mount the vendor partition. Any ideas ? PS: I can't even flash back to latest Oneplus ROM (or even older roms).... Update: Meanwhile I use TWRP from "cheeseburgerdumplings" for 8.1 on what lineageOS and the "/vendor" partition is no more tried to be mounted. What I figure out as well, is that if I go with adbs command to know if the filesystem is encrypted or not: adb shell getprop ro.crypto.state tells me "encrypted" Now the big question, which filesystems are encrypted, all ? I have an Android 10 phone (OnePlus 5) and I want to change the Android ID (I think this is what apps use to identify you sometimes). I read that either I can do a factory reset or root my phone, both of which probably involve wiping the data clean which I want to avoid, and rooting looks complicated. But I read that it's possible to change the Android ID by just using some command line tools, is it possible?

I can't get my contacts to sync. In the contacts app (both google and default phone app) it shows "1 account" (won't tell me what, presumably the 'on device' since it still shows that if I remove my Gmail). If I try to add my Gmail account it tells me the account is "already on the device". If I go to settings>accounts>my Gmail>sync there's a few switches, but contacts is not one of them. I can click my account instead of the sync menu and scroll over to People and Sharing and it tells me I have 480 contacts, and will open contacts.google.com and show them, but I can't get them on my phone. I've tried deleting and re-adding my Gmail, clearing contacts app data, looked for a google contacts sync app (didn't have one). Contacts apps have all permissions granted.

I have installed FreedomOS on my OnePlus 5. I'm not sure if this is related to FreedomOS, but when I try to make a backup in TWRP with data, system, and boot, it has an error with createTarFork() shortly after it gets to backing up data. It also says 'read only filesystem' when I try to open Terminal from Advanced and run 'cd /data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/bad7d639 && rm -rf backup-name'. What can I do to fix this and why is this happening?

This happened after a system update to Android 9. The device is working properly but I'm getting "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and may not work properly" with a red triangle warning every time I reboot. Formatting it didn't work. Any suggestions?

My OnePlus 5 after the Pie OTA update wont show the screen. after rebooting, it only shows the 'android' logo and then the screen goes completely blank(black). I can sense that the phone is turning on and working since I can feel the vibrations on the lock screen and random apps opening. I tried going to the recovery but even the recovery is blank but I can feel the touch vibrations. Please Help!

If I want to mark an email as unread in my Outlook app, I have to do it twice, because after the first time it changes back to the 'read' status (after a few seconds). The problems occurs on a OnePlus 5T phone running Android 8.0.0 and I haven't found anyone else online reporting this small but annoying issue. It looks like a bug to me, but maybe someone else has encountered this as well or has some ideas to solve this?

I have a T-Mobile SIM that, on a OnePlus One, works perfectly fine on T-Mobile's APN in IPv4-only mode, with an IPv4 address and everything. However, when I take it out and put it on a OnePlus 5, it doesn't work with the same APN settings unless I change *IPv4* to *IPv6* (or *IPv4/IPv6*). I'm baffled at how this is possible. How is this possible? Shouldn't all phones be able to connect to the same APNs with the same settings?

How do you set a custom encryption password on the OnePlus 5 and make the system prompt for the password on boot? The OnePlus One made this easy, but I can't figure out how to do it on the OnePlus 5. (Otherwise what is the point of encryption if the device automatically decrypts itself?!?!)

So, I rooted my device and everything was fine. It was like that until I used Freedom. It messed up my Play Store. There was nothing that could repair it. I tried doing a factory reset but my twrp did not let me do it, it said it cannot mount something. So, I thought that if I lock my OEM it will do a data wipe. So, I locked it, not my phone, when I want to load the system, it's stuck on the loading screen and when I try to boot in recovery it says "Your device is corrupt. It can't be trusted and will not boot".

I'm new to TWRP and I'm going to be installing a custom.ROM/Kernel. I've messed up my device a few times by installing random things. I've fixed it now, and I'd like to start making backups. I know that the OnePlus 5 has dm-verity and I've heard that dm-verity prevents some backups. What should I select in backup in TWRP for the OP5?

So I wanted to stop the Play Store from automatically updating only to find that this is literally not an option. My version of Play Store is 8.1.73 and when in settings I press the "auto-update" fields I get the option to update over wi-fi or also over data. What happened here? Did Google just sneakily remove the option to not auto-update? Is it a OnePlus "feature"? I have a OnePlus 5 with the latest update for Oxygen OS for my region (Europe) installed.

In the recent presentation, OnePlus CEO stated that because OnePlus thinks 2K resolution is unnecessary for a 5.5" screen, OnePlus 5 will continue using 1080p AMOLED as OnePlus 3 and 3T do. I've heard major criticism on the screen of 3/3T, so I wonder if there's any improvement on the screen of OnePlus 5.

Now my phone can't use internet with 4G. An exclamation mark appears near the signal bars. Although there's a speed indicator it won't down or up load anything. But I can surf on 3G (when 2G/3G is chosen as the preferred network type) without any problem. How to use 4G like before?
