Recently, a green line mysteriously appeared on the screen of my Android smartphone. This happened a few days after I installed an Android 14.0 update. I believe the update caused the green line issue. Later, I learned that many Android smartphone users are facing this issue. As an Android enthusiast, I am curious to see why this happened. I learned that the issue, a hardware defect, affects phones with AMOLED displays and causes a permanent green line to appear on the screen. I read a blog that states
> The green line issue is a hardware problem when the display connector or flex cable connecting the display to the motherboard gets loose, damaged, or defective. This causes permanent and irreversible damage to the display, resulting in a thin band of green that runs from the top to the bottom of the screen.
I am posting this question for answers that would help me understand the technical details behind this issue. How does this issue occur technically? Any insights are highly appreciated. Thank you!
Edit:
My Android phone model is OnePlus 9R.

I was looking at some picture that had mainly white background and noticed that there is a certain ghost screen that was layered on top of it.
I edited a picture to try to bring out as much as possible.
From what I can actually see on the phone, it looks like the image of a whatsapp conversation as i can see the letters at the bottom of the screen as well as the typing bar with the camera on the side and the go back button in top left.
I tried to take screenshot but it doesn't show on the screenshot. Could it be the screen burning up?
In terms of actual color its between a brown / orange, copper like.

Sometimes AMOLED display turns green or purple (tinted)
I am using Samsung Galaxy A5 A500G since last month, but sometimes while using the phone, the display turns slightly green or purple (tinted) in shade. But as soon as I adjust the screen brightness, the display becomes normal. Is it a problem?

Does OnePlus 5 use the same screen as OnePlus 3/3T?

Turning off true black pixels (#000000) for LCD?
Is there a way to turn off black pixels on LCD screens, similar to how AMOLED devices turn off these pixels? I've tried those pixel-turn-off apps, but they turn off all pixels within a certain grid, while I wanted just the black pixels to be off. Thanks in advance!

* Is it possible to allow Daydream also while on battery?
* If not, is there another option?
* Optional extra requirement: Ideally, the screen would turn of completely when it is covered.
I prefer ‘simple’ solutions, but am also interested in ones that are more complicated and involve, e.g., some form of automation. (They may also be of interest to others.)

*And this is how it is looking*
On the second image you can see white border around every letter..
**But**, when I change display mode to *Natural* or *Movie*, the border there is not. Is it right? Does it mean that the display is corrupted?
I bought this phone few days ago as used. The phone was made 2 years and 2 months ago but I don't know how long it the previous owner was using. Display is without any scratch, blue colour is okay. The phone is looking as unused.
thanks for help

2. When viewing the totally black screen (sadly dark gray screen) in dark, i see real black lines and dots on my display, see the picture i painted in mspaint. Is that a damaged screen? They dont show on turned-off display.
_I think some old tamagotchi did this too :)_
3.
3. I read AMOLED can shut down pixels when displaying black (and save energy), can they do it after all, when they display gray anyway? Or is it the dimming that saves battery?
My phone is (should hopefuly be) Samsung Galaxy S III LTE (GT-I9305) so it should have AMOLED.
**EDIT** Ad. 2.: I googled a bit and it seems a common problem for all AMOLED screens. But since it is so hardly noticeable it isnt nothing to worry about. One poster summarizes it nicely here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s3/260791-amoled-black-dots-dark.html#post2726685

My phone screen is gradually becoming dark blue and then black--see photo. Started with a single light blueish edge, and growing during the last hours to what can be seen on photo.

The only serious reason that I could think of is that the phone has recently overheated while charging: it stayed for several hours under the pillow, and it was very hot when I took it away from there. Another guess is a recent drop on the floor, but in its 2-years lifetime it dropped dozens of time, frequently much harder than today.
What could be the reason, and how it can be fixed, ideally DIY or at all?
It's Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100.

Could someone make a way to do this? A perfect theme, perhaps combined with a filter.
I went through 4 themes so far, and they all fail majorly in some things (not overlapping).

**Update:**
Found the answer here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022216
Looking in 'Baseband version' under 'About Phone' reveals that a baseband beginning wth I9020 is the Super AMOLED or I9023 for Super LCD.
