I installed some widgets from the Loop Habit Tracker onto the home screen of the Nova Launcher. Unfortunately, the font size of the text in the widgets is too small. I tried increasing the setting at Nova Launcher --> Settings --> Home screen --> Layout --> Label --> Size. This did not change the size of the text in the widgets. I think this setting only impacts the size of the labels for the apps. How can I resize the text in a widget?

directory. There seems to be no way to install custom fonts without rooting your Android or installing some apps.
- Why has Google made it almost impossible for Android users to install custom fonts?
- What was the engineering decision that led fonts not getting picked up from ~/.fonts/
user directory as happens in a standard Linux Distribution?
The same behaviour is seen in ChromeOS as well.

##### Research
com.android.customization.picker.CustomizationPickerActivity
and com.android.settings
do not include any references to fonts on my OS installation.
Gemini states the undermentioned when I search for "change font android 14 adb" into Google:
1. Find a TrueType Font (However, it doesn't cite a source, and explicitly searching for.ttf
) file that you want to use as your system font. 1. Use theadb push
command to copy your font file to the system directory on your device: ~~~sh #!/usr/bin/env sh adb push font.ttf /system/fonts ~~~ 1. ~~~sh #!/usr/bin/env sh adb shell 'wm set font font.ttf' ~~~
"wm set" android
yields 0 results.
I'd regardless have reason to believe this, except that com.android.theme.font.notoserifsource
is preinstalled on my device, and I'd be fairly surprised for a font to be packaged as an APK if including one were truly as trivial as including a mere TTF file in /system/fonts
.

I have a passing interest in linguistics and sometimes do some reading up on the topic in my spare time, and lately I've noticed that whatever font Firefox is using on my phone just doesn't support important parts of the IPA and certain rare CJK characters, and it doesn't seem to be falling back (though I'm not sure if missing ligatures are normally a fallback situation--but ligatures are mandatory for Chao tone letters, not just an aesthetic thing like they are in standard text). I'd like to install a font that does, but I can't seem to find any information for how to do this--search engines apparently just think I'm trying to change the font used in the system UI, and the google play store keeps pointing me to weird custom keyboards.
So, my question is: how do I get a font in the correct place for it to be available, and how do I set up Firefox android to use that font as a fallback or even by default? It's definitely not a case of the website dictating a font that doesn't support it--I can load the same page on my laptop and it renders fine.
If it's relevant, my phone is a Kyocera Duraforce Ultra E7110.
----
[Here's](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Phonetic_Alphabet#Computer_support) a (section of a) page that renders wrong, which also happens to be a section about font support for the exact characters I'm having issues with. There's a test sequence in the caption under the image on the right. Specifically, on my phone, the sequence ˨˦˧꜒꜔꜓ renders as
, instead of how it should render, as
. (Most fonts support the first half of that, the standard-orientation tone letters, but many do not support the reversed ones--including the one stackexchange uses by default, it would seem.)
As for android version, here's what my phone says:
- Android version: 12
- Android security update: January 1, 2025
- Google Play system update: February 1, 2025
- Baseband version: HI.2.0.c3-00516-1 (that might start with Hl, I'm not sure)
- Kernel version: 4.19.157-perf
- (Kernel version second line:) #1 Wed Jan 29 02:19:57 JST 2025
- Build number: 5.230VZ

Later it disappeared, maybe with a Play Services update.
Is the functionality still available under the hood? For example, can I still change the system font? (Without root access, as I couldn't find any way to root it without going through the official "unlock > wipe" sequence.)

Font substitution is set via the registry under theLikewise, almost all desktop-focused Linux-based OSes do, withFontSubstitutes

fc-alias
. As an example, on my Fedora 40 KDE Spin installation:
fc-match monospace
fc-match sans-serif
fc-match serif

However, I see absolutely no information online regarding whether the AOSP supports this functionality, nor how. Irrespective, I've reason to believe that support might exist, because when I view an HTML message via the official GMail, Outlook, and Proton Mail e-mail client applications with text content set to monospace
, the typeface utilized appears to be monospace, and consistent across the clients.

Is there a way to fix other than istalling a bunch of random "font manager" apps, none of which does the thing?

How can I change the font size or widget font size of One UI Home?
I was trying Theme Park from GoodLock and when I applied the theme I made, it decreased the font size of all home elements, widgets, icon captions, etc. I've tried applying the default theme but it didn't reset the font. Tried resetting One UI Home (Clear Data) but also didn't work. Also I don't seem to find a font size option on Theme Park.
I could increase the system font size, but on other apps it's fine, so I'm not doing that.

Most of the books on my Kindle for Android app display with the same font, which I find good enough for reading.
But I have just one book which uses different typography, and it is bad enough to distract me from the reading experience. I checked maybe 10 other books and none displays that way. So I assume that this must be a publisher font. Kindle is supposed to support reset of publisher fonts since 4.3. I have 4.4.0.71 and can't find how to do it. A solution from Amazon help says
> 1. While reading, press the Menu button and then select Change Font Size.
2. Next to Publisher Font, select "on" or "off".
But I have no such option.
**If this is a publisher font, how do I get it to normal? If it isn't, why is this book displaying so differently from all the others, and again, how do I get it to normal?** (device is not rooted).
The below screenshot shows what I see in the settings for the book. (There are no font settings in the two real Menu buttons, this comes from the

aA
button which changes the book's appearance). It also shows the strange font with low readability (both screenshots are taken at the same line spacing setting).

On most web sites, when I look at them with Chrome on my phone (a Nexus 4 running stock Android 4.2.2), I can adjust the font size by double-tapping a column of text to make it widen to fill the screen. However, this doesn't work on Wikipedia.org; I don't know why -- the text is quite small.
I've already got the browser set up to display (very) large fonts: I'd gone to "settings", "Accessibility", and have cranked the "Text scaling" slider over to 155%, which is ginormous. (There's also a check in the box that says "Force Enable Zoom", which I don't recall setting; I guess that's the default).
Anyway: this feature works fine on most sites, just not Wikipedia (and perhaps a few others). Any advice for making Wikipedia readable?

I want to create a language for Android keyboards, the language has many speakers in my country. The language is [Laki](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laki_language) .
I searched and found we have a Laki keyboard in Android, but it's not complete. So, I created a font for the Laki language and it works on Windows computers, and I wrote a book with this font.
I've created a custom keyboard for Android with this font and Kotlin, but it does not work because in Android we have default fonts, and my font does not work.
What did I find? I found ASCII code for languages.
How can I create an ASCII for my language and with that, I create a custom keyboard?

In a desktop computer, there is an option for that:
