I installed some widgets from the Loop Habit Tracker onto the home screen of the Nova Launcher. Unfortunately, the font size of the text in the widgets is too small. I tried increasing the setting at Nova Launcher --> Settings --> Home screen --> Layout --> Label --> Size. This did not change the size of the text in the widgets. I think this setting only impacts the size of the labels for the apps. How can I resize the text in a widget?

I'm receiving this error after enabling ultra power saving mode: > "Unfortunately, Launcher has stopped." Its dialog only has the option "OK". Restarting doesn't work. Clearing cache partition through recovery doesn't work. I can access settings by pulling down from the top of the screen but the settings menu is not complete; It only has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Airplane mode, Mobile networks, Location, Sound and Display entries. My device is not rooted. It seems that the device is still on ultra power saving mode, even after clearing cache. I have the option to factory reset through recovery but I prefer not loosing my data, if it's possible. What can I do?

What is the "Launcher" application and why are there alternative apps?
Several questions have mentioned launcher. What is it responsible for, and what kinds of features do the alternative apps in the Market provide that the basic android launcher doesn't?

I looked up and most of the suggestions were to install a custom rom, I can't install a custom rom because there is not custom recovery as well as custom rom for my phone. To get the recent apps screen should I enable the launcher or is there any other alternative? Device model: Tecno Spark 7 Android Version: Android 11 In-built launcher: HiOS

I have a Lenovo Tab P11 2nd Gen (TB132FU). After an upgrade to Android 14, the custom "Smart Launcher" preinstalled on this tablet keeps crashing. This sometimes interrupts actions I take in the UI. Even though I have installed another launcher (Microsoft Launcher), the old launcher seems to be running and crashing in the background. On my main account, it crashes less frequently, but I also have a Google Family link installed, and my kids cannot use the tablet anymore with their restricted accounts. I have connected the Tablet to the dev tools and received the following logs:

I would be willing to install another ROM or maybe even downgrade the tablet to e.g. Android 13.

I back up my phone by backing up the various state directories under /data/, including the /data/data/ state directory of the launcher. The details aren't important but the backups include all files' metadata, including xattrs and acls. Caches and certain ephemeral or otherwise replaceable files are excluded but for Trebuchet this only affects its cache directory. When I back up, wipe and restore on Android 14 (LineageOS 21) however, the launcher is still in its default/reset state eventhough the launcher was modified when the backup was taken. This did not use to happen on Android 13 (LineageOS 20). When I selectively restore the launcher's /data/data/ directory, it is still in the default state. If I produce some launcher state and move all files under the launcher's /data/data/ directory, it resets as expected. If I then undo the rename, I get back to the state I initially produced. What is going on? Where else could it be hiding state that is critical to the launcher function? For reference, these are the state directories under /data that I generally restore:
/app/
/data/
/system/package*
/system/netpolicy.xml
/system/users/0/
/misc_de/0/apexdata/com.android.permission/
/user_de/0/
/misc/apexdata/com.android.wifi
/system/notification_policy.xml
/property/persistent_properties
/user_de/0/org.lineageos.lineagesettings
/misc/profiles/
/system_ce/

I've got Google Pixel 6 Pro with the default launcher. I'm kind of fine with it. For whatever design "solution", this launcher trims icon/shortcut labels it considers "out of bounds" just cutting off most of the text replacing all of it with ellipsis. For example, what it considers "out of bounds": * _Advanced Root Checker_ becomes _Advanced Root ..._ * _Air Raid Alert Map of Ukraine_ becomes _Air Raid Alert..._ (a web page shortcut added to the home screen from Firefox) Some answers recommend absolutely a [useless way](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/3127997?hl=en&msgid=3129330) to fix it: changing the default system-wide font size should not be used to configure the apps in general (I mean, why would changing the font size affect behavior of a particular launcher?) + increasing/decreasing the font size doesn't disable label trimming. I'm looking for a way to either make it allow wider text labels or render the text labels at least in two rows. Any real solution would be appreciated: a Pixel Launcher fork, a module for Magisk/LSPosed/XPL-EX, whatever.

If I can give example, it would be an iOS; you unlock and you are instantly on applications. The reason for this is I don't really use widgets at all, and I don't see the point in having a home screen only for apps shortcuts if I would have only menu (app drawer).

My mother is a disabled person. She can't go out due to health issues. Her Android smartphone is the only way to communicate with the World (my brother, who lives abroad, her relatives, her friends etc). While she's not an advanced smartphone user, she plays with the phone a lot, what ends up with apps being deleted, contacts being blocked or removed, new unneeded subscriptions and so on. And she even does not realise, that she does all these (she says “the phone did this by itself”). This creates a lot of problems for me and nurses as we need to install and fix things all the time. Is there any app, like a launcher, that can help dealing with this? I mean, at least the app should deny deleting apps, what is, probably, the biggest problem. Another contact/phone app, that would not allow blocking contacts, would be handy too. That's another big problem. I thought about setting up Family Link, but, as far as I know, it does not prevent apps from being deleted. I considered also kid's launchers, but they usually limit, what can be launched, and I need to limit “management” functions. Note, that I don't need a launcher for elderly, that makes things big and have a simple interface. I need an app to prevent some actions like deleting WhatsApp and don't care if this is simple to do or not.

Another possible use I would do is to prefix all Google apps with "G " to easily group all Google apps in the alphabetical lists together. I have the Pixel 8 Pro phone.

I have a Google Pixel 6 with Android 14. Currently I have enabled: Settings > Accessibility > Color and motion > Color correction > Grayscale But I find myself wanting to disable Grayscale (re-enable color) for certain apps, such as Google Maps. This question https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/256170/all-internet-apps-in-grayscale got my hopes up, but I don't see anything helpful in Settings > Apps > Digital Wellbeing. How could I choose via an allow-list and/or deny-list which apps should or shouldn't use Grayscale mode? If Android doesn't offer this feature natively, how (as a software engineer) could I code it for myself?

I lost all my website shortcuts on the homescreen on Android 11. I didn't know of **this bug** due to which all web shortcuts on Android can suddenly disappear at any time. **How to get the shortcuts or the link URLs of these shortcuts back?** Also see [How do I backup my website homescreen shortcuts?](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/224433/how-do-i-backup-my-website-homescreen-shortcuts/256780) where I described the two things I tried. Briefly, in Xiamoi Mi Note 10 (MIUI) under Backup and restore one can backup the the System launcher. The problem is that I'd also like to restore things between my last backup and now if possible because it's been a while since I did the last backup of the Systemlauncher and that when restoring from that file, the homescreen shortcuts are not restored. When copying the backup file located in /MIUI/backups/AllBackup to a Linux computer and running strings /directory/AllBackup/timestamp/Systemlauncher\(com.miui.home\).bak > ~/backupfile.txt I can read the file with a text editor but the actual links seem to be encrypted or simply unreadable. When I search for com.miui.home.launcher.DEEP_SHORTCUT I can only see the titles of the shortcuts and there even are some problems with that. The mobile Web browser didn't warn about this bug which is still not fixed by Google (or whoever is responsible for closing it) so I think most people only learn about this once they lost all shortcuts so that they start to use other methods to save websites like browser bookmarks. I have the latest Android updates and I also have problems deleting app caches. I had many shortcuts and many of them were important so I need them back. **How to read the links in the .bak file?** Often the title is incomplete and they all have a shortcut_id but that ID appears only once in that file.

Just bought a new phone with Android 12 and found this app switch failure: I press "square" button, see recent apps list, tap on one of them. So that app came to top for a moment and then hides away. I tried Nova, Pixel, Microsoft and Niagara launchers, all with the same effect. The problem don't appear only with stock launcher. I've found that it can be fixed by disabling "Animator Duration scale" in developer options. The problem is that I literally can't disable that option - I tap on it, select "Animation off", but value still shows "Animation scale .5x". Oukitel WP18Pro, Android 12, stock launcher is Quickstep, no root, no custom things. Factory reset also does not help.
