Home settings is rumoured to be the place to do this, but there's no option there. home screen with suggestions at bottom home settings screen I've done: 1. Long-pressing the empty space gets me the home settings screen above, but the widget and wallpaper options from the long-press go nowhere. 2. Searching "suggestions" in Settings goes nowhere. How can I remove suggestions from the home screen of HMD Pulse+?

I want to have a bookmark shortcut on my Home screen to launch a web app I use regularly. The only way I found to achieve this is using the **Add to Home screen** from the Chrome browser menu when I'm on the site. However, this does not let me edit the actual URL the bookmark will point to. This is a problem because said web app automatically appends the current date to the end of the URL when it's loaded. When I add the shortcut to the Home screen, the link will then actually open the app to display data from the day on which I created the shortcut. I'll always have to open the date picker and navigate to the current date to start using the app. I'd like to edit the Home screen bookmark shortcut's URL to remove the date added to its end, so it always opens to the current day. Can I achieve this without third-party software? I'm using an unrooted Sony Xperia Z5 Compact running Android 6.0.1. * Some sources say to create a standard bookmark in Chrome, where the URL can be edited, then long-press it in the bookmarks manager and choose to add it to the home screen from the context menu. This context menu entry does not appear to exist anymore in current versions of Chrome. * Some sources say to look for a Bookmarks widget that allows to choose a Chrome bookmark to display. This widget doesn't appear to exist anymore in Android 6. The only bookmarks widget I have displays the entire bookmarks folder. * The website in question loads too quickly for me to be able to cancel before the URL is modified. I tried many times.

So I have a path that is barely accessible by normal apps: /sdcard/Android/data/com.zoiper.android.app/files/CallRecordings Only the built-in Files app/UI can open it, and Total Commander can launch that pre-opened to this path. I'm trying to replicate that (Intent? Action?) and place a shortcut on my home screen that opens a UI to the contents of that folder (so I can move my call recordings to a normal place in the file system that gets synced to the cloud by other apps). I don't know which intent/action can open that path. This page says that most of the normal ones (ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE, ACTION_OPEN_DOCUMENT) have restrictions against opening "The Android/data/ directory and all subdirectories." I'm using the Shortcut Maker app so I don't need to write any code. I go to Activities -> Files, and there is com.android.documentsui.ScopedAccessActivity which sounded promising. Trying to figure out the exact intent/activity to use, and how to give it the path, and what the path should be in the Content URI scheme. Something like this? content://com.android.externalstorage.documents/tree/primary%3AAndroid%2Fdata I know it's doable since Total Commander can perform it, if it's possible to listen/log what went on in the system while TC opened the Files app, and I could inspect that info and replicate it as a shortcut it would be perfect. I feel there should be an equivalent easy way to do this, even without an app. Is there?

I lost all my website shortcuts on the homescreen on Android 11. I didn't know of **this bug** due to which all web shortcuts on Android can suddenly disappear at any time. **How to get the shortcuts or the link URLs of these shortcuts back?** Also see [How do I backup my website homescreen shortcuts?](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/224433/how-do-i-backup-my-website-homescreen-shortcuts/256780) where I described the two things I tried. Briefly, in Xiamoi Mi Note 10 (MIUI) under Backup and restore one can backup the the System launcher. The problem is that I'd also like to restore things between my last backup and now if possible because it's been a while since I did the last backup of the Systemlauncher and that when restoring from that file, the homescreen shortcuts are not restored. When copying the backup file located in /MIUI/backups/AllBackup to a Linux computer and running strings /directory/AllBackup/timestamp/Systemlauncher\(com.miui.home\).bak > ~/backupfile.txt I can read the file with a text editor but the actual links seem to be encrypted or simply unreadable. When I search for com.miui.home.launcher.DEEP_SHORTCUT I can only see the titles of the shortcuts and there even are some problems with that. The mobile Web browser didn't warn about this bug which is still not fixed by Google (or whoever is responsible for closing it) so I think most people only learn about this once they lost all shortcuts so that they start to use other methods to save websites like browser bookmarks. I have the latest Android updates and I also have problems deleting app caches. I had many shortcuts and many of them were important so I need them back. **How to read the links in the .bak file?** Often the title is incomplete and they all have a shortcut_id but that ID appears only once in that file.

I have a file on my Google Drive that I want quick access to from my home screen. The app that updates the file seems to do so by renaming the original file and then creating a new file with the original name. This breaks my shortcut every time. Can I set up a home screen shortcut so it links to the file by name, instead of whatever ID it's using? (ETA a little background: The file in question is a KeePass database. I manage it on my phone with KeePassDroid, and on my desktop (Mac) with KeePassXC. My Mac syncs it to my Google Drive with Google Drive for Desktop. So I'm not in control of how the file gets saved, nor do I want to take the manual step of uploading it.)

I 'installed' a page as a PWA with Firefox for Android; however, the entrypoint url specified in the page's manifest is not the url I want to open. In my example, Instagram, it opens instagram.com, but I want instagram.com?variant=following and not the useless recommended page. Therefore, my question is: Is there any easy way to modify this link on my home screen (or, alternatively, tell firefox about this before the link is created)? There are two solutions I can think of, both of which seem suboptimal: 1. Don't install as a PWA, but as a link to the website: This is supposed to work if you click install when the page (and thus the manifest) wasn't able to load (eg. airplane mode) (haven't tried this though) - the page would open as a tab in firefox instead of a separate activity though 2. Somehow man-in-the-middle myself with an https proxy and rewrite the manifest before installing the PWA - this might work but seems like a lot of work. Ideally, I'd just modify the home screen entry and change the URL there. Versions: Android 14 / Pixel 7 (not rooted) Firefox 119.1.1

When developing Android apps, I will often end up reinstalling the app I'm working on (deliberately after uninstalling it, or when the build signatures are different). It's bothersome to always put this app back on the home screen where I want it. And if I don't, I either have to type its name in the app directory (which can take a few letters depending on how similar its name is to other apps) or scroll to find it. Has anyone found a way to have an app find it's previous spot on a reinstall, or something that would make finding it easier ? I'm familiar with Tasker and Llama, but couldn't find such options.

I want to make shortcuts to OneNote notes on android in a certain folder (not app launcher folders, but folders visible in a file manager app). To do so I want to create a .url file containig the link to the note. Unfortunately, it is not possible to share notes with OneNote, thus I have no idea how the links look like. I was given the idea to enable developer mode on my android device and then to check the logcat while tapping the Android home screen shortcut. This should reveal the full Intent which contains the link of the note. I tried to do so but I don't understand the android developer mode. **Is this a possible way to find out the link of a shortcut of the home screen? Can anyone who succeeds in this share a OneNote home screen shortcut link**? I would like to know the link format so that I can make those shortcut link files by myself. ____ **What I mean by "link format"**: For example, I figured out that simply adding ?si= at the end of a Spotify web link opens the app. Compare https://open.spotify.com/track/3Bp8X5z1jgq7HS0tCr0liJ which opens the song in browser to https://open.spotify.com/track/3Bp8X5z1jgq7HS0tCr0liJ?si= which opens the same song in the app. I hope there is a simple solution as this for OneNote: Once I know the differences in format I can easily make android shortcuts from web links.
