Build BP3A.250905.014, replaces "Allow home screen rotation" (which used accelerometer) with "Landscape mode" (permanent on/off); how to restore this?
Before *Android OS 16*'s last update (to build # `BP3A.250905.014`), `Home settings` had `Allow home screen rotation` (if enabled, this uses the accelerometer so that home is vertical if the phone is vertical, or horizontal if the phone is horizontal. - This was the sole option that allowed you to h...
Before *Android OS 16*'s last update (to build #
BP3A.250905.014
), Home settings
had Allow home screen rotation
(if enabled, this uses the accelerometer so that home is vertical if the phone is vertical, or horizontal if the phone is horizontal.
- This was the sole option that allowed you to hide the *Google* search bar; if you disabled the *Google* app and enabled this option, then when your phone is horizontal, the *Google* search bar does not show.

But BP3A.250905.014
replaces this option with Landscape mode
(which is a permanent on/off switch).
- It is now not possible to hide the *Google* search bar unless you replace the stock launcher (such as with *Nova Launcher*, which is not recommended). With the new Landscape mode
, even with the *Google* app disabled and the phone horizontal, the *Google* search bar shows.

How to restore the old home view?
- Do you have to undo the update (roll back to the old version) to restore this ("Alt + Tab" switches)? Have the stock *Android OS* (not [**AOSP**](https://source.android.com/) , which includes sudo
); is it possible to go back to the old version on devices without sudo
?
- Do you have to purchase a new phone (and remember to disable all processes related to "updates" / "provisioning" (and *Google* still asks, refuse those))?
- If you can not refuse those: use without the **SIM** card (so *Google* can not force those), or [switch to a new **OS** (such as *Ubuntu Phone*) which allows you to use your phone](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/57674/ubuntu-for-android) ?

I installed some widgets from the Loop Habit Tracker onto the home screen of the Nova Launcher. Unfortunately, the font size of the text in the widgets is too small. I tried increasing the setting at Nova Launcher --> Settings --> Home screen --> Layout --> Label --> Size. This did not change the size of the text in the widgets. I think this setting only impacts the size of the labels for the apps. How can I resize the text in a widget?

I find it handy to have a calculator on my phone, but the way I have to launch it is anything but handy. It is not on my home screen (or any that come if I swipe to the side) nor on the set of screens I get from swiping up and then to the side. It is not in any of the little "clumps" of apps labelled Samsung, Google, etc.
If I swipe up and use the search, I get one result but it's not the app it's the app info. Nevertheless, if I go to the app info down at the bottom there is an Open button and I can thus launch it and use it. I have tried long pressing on the app when it's running, on this app info screen, and just about everywhere else in the hope of finding a Pin To Home option, but no. I also found it in the store but that didn't help.
What am I missing? How can I have a calculator I can launch with like one swipe and a click, no typing?

When I set up my new Fairphone 4 with Android 11, I selected DuckDuckGo as my search engine. This is now used in the bottom search bar on the home screen. Now I can't find the place in the settings to change this to something else in the settings. And searching the settings for "search" brings up nothing :-/
Where can I change the search engine for the search bar on the home screen?
This is what I need to find again: https://www.android.com/choicescreen/ The EU forces them to provide me with a choicescreen so that I can decide freely which search engine to use by default. But like for cookie banners, the EU guys are not the brightest when trying to control Megacorps, so they seem to allow Google to hide that screen very well.
All descriptions I found refer to changing the search engine in a browser only.
(It is lamented elsewhere already what a pita it is to have the search bar down there, but it seems we cannot get rid of it. In case someone knows better, that would suit me as well.)

Remove app suggestions from the home screen of HMD Pulse+
I have a new HMD Pulse+ running Android 14. I unwisely enabled the app suggestion box at the bottom of the screen and can't get rid of it. Hoping I don't have to do a system reset to lose it. Home settings is rumoured to be the place to do this, but there's no option there. [

On my Samsung Galaxy S2, sometimes all of the icons will disappear from the home screens except for the 4 built in icons (phone, messaging, web, applications). This sometimes happens at startup, and sometimes happens after the phone has been running for a while. It can only be fixed by rebooting the phone, although that is not a guaranteed fix.
More recently I've encountered an additional problem: Sometimes when the icons disappear, the Applications button stops bringing up my applications menu.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Now, how can I prevent the swipe-right screen, or how can I replace it with a better app?

I would like to add a widget to my home screen. According to the official help page , I should touch and hold an empty space, and then tap "Widgets". However when I touch and hold an empty space on the home screen, there isn't any "Widgets" button, all I see is "Home settings" and "Wallpapers". However, I found a screenshot on internet where that button is clearly visible, the problem isn't that I'm looking in the wrong place.
My phone | Screenshot of someone else's phone I found on internet

So it seems like this "Widgets" buttons exists on other phones, but it's disabled on my phone for some reason. I tried googling for why this button could be disabled, but I couldn't find anything related to my problem.
I also tried clicking on "Home settings" to see if there was anything related to widgets in there, but there wasn't. I also tried opening the settings app and searching for "widgets" in the search bar, but it didn't give any results.
In case it matters, I'm using a Motorola Moto E6i.
Why is that "Widgets" button disabled and how do I enable it?

I didn't try creating a new user yet due to storage "working on it"; also I didn't try hiding apps because I don't want it.

If I can give example, it would be an iOS; you unlock and you are instantly on applications. The reason for this is I don't really use widgets at all, and I don't see the point in having a home screen only for apps shortcuts if I would have only menu (app drawer).

I want to have a bookmark shortcut on my Home screen to launch a web app I use regularly. The only way I found to achieve this is using the **Add to Home screen** from the Chrome browser menu when I'm on the site. However, this does not let me edit the actual URL the bookmark will point to.
This is a problem because said web app automatically appends the current date to the end of the URL when it's loaded. When I add the shortcut to the Home screen, the link will then actually open the app to display data from the day on which I created the shortcut. I'll always have to open the date picker and navigate to the current date to start using the app.
I'd like to edit the Home screen bookmark shortcut's URL to remove the date added to its end, so it always opens to the current day. Can I achieve this without third-party software?
I'm using an unrooted Sony Xperia Z5 Compact running Android 6.0.1.
* Some sources say to create a standard bookmark in Chrome, where the URL can be edited, then long-press it in the bookmarks manager and choose to add it to the home screen from the context menu. This context menu entry does not appear to exist anymore in current versions of Chrome.
* Some sources say to look for a Bookmarks widget that allows to choose a Chrome bookmark to display. This widget doesn't appear to exist anymore in Android 6. The only bookmarks widget I have displays the entire bookmarks folder.
* The website in question loads too quickly for me to be able to cancel before the URL is modified. I tried many times.

Pressing the side button again turns the screen on, and asks the user to swipe to continue:
I neither have nor want biometrics on my phone.
What is the canonical way to disable the swipe-to-open screen so that pressing the side button goes directly home?
Using adb to change the settings would be fine.

How can I change the font size or widget font size of One UI Home?
I was trying Theme Park from GoodLock and when I applied the theme I made, it decreased the font size of all home elements, widgets, icon captions, etc. I've tried applying the default theme but it didn't reset the font. Tried resetting One UI Home (Clear Data) but also didn't work. Also I don't seem to find a font size option on Theme Park.
I could increase the system font size, but on other apps it's fine, so I'm not doing that.
My phone is a Samsung S21 with Android 14, One UI 6.0 and One UI Home 15.0.09.1
