I find it handy to have a calculator on my phone, but the way I have to launch it is anything but handy. It is not on my home screen (or any that come if I swipe to the side) nor on the set of screens I get from swiping up and then to the side. It is not in any of the little "clumps" of apps labelled Samsung, Google, etc.
If I swipe up and use the search, I get one result but it's not the app it's the app info. Nevertheless, if I go to the app info down at the bottom there is an Open button and I can thus launch it and use it. I have tried long pressing on the app when it's running, on this app info screen, and just about everywhere else in the hope of finding a Pin To Home option, but no. I also found it in the store but that didn't help.
What am I missing? How can I have a calculator I can launch with like one swipe and a click, no typing?

How do I report a bug or actually an error in the calculator that comes with Android? The version of Android on my Tab4 is 4.4.2 and 4.1.2 on my Samsung phone. It is the modulus function -- '%'. For example on paper if you divide 24 by 7 you get a remainder of 3, which is the correct modulus. The Android calculator puts a 'x' after the '%' and in front of the number you are trying to mod by. You end up with a 1.68. The only way this could be correct is if the creators of the calculator had something else in mind for the modulus symbol, which probably shouldn't be done. Maybe use '%x' on the button would be more accurate.

Remove thousands separator in Calculator app of Samsung Galaxy S2
Is there any way to tweak a standard Calculator application in Samsung Galaxy S2 mobile phone not to display the thousands separator? I mean to display 1000 instead of 1,000. Is somehow related to locale?

I've tried swipe movements, clicked on every possible button, and even held down the menu button as described [here]( https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/19407/accessing-calculation-history-on-htc-calculator-app) , but I could not make the on-screen keyboard show up.
Has anybody had more luck trying this?

I was wrong. I checked several sources, including rules for javascript operand calculation rules. The misconception arises because the number beside the parantheses is not bound to the parenthetical expression, which is to be treated as a number, making the equation 3 numbers worked from left to right without any add-sub to deal with. Multiple sources to cite but here is one at bottom of post.
Rule 1: First perform any calculations inside parentheses
(2=1)=3
Rule 2: Next perform all multiplications and divisions, working from left to right.
6/2*3 = 9.
Rule 3: Lastly, perform all additions and subtractions, working from left to right.

I get unexpected results when using the trigonometric functions on my Android 4.4.2 phone.
For example, if I enter
sin(30)=
I get the result -0.9880316
when I expect the result 0.5
. It appears the phone expects trigonometric numbers to be expressed in radians rather than degrees which is uncommon - the phone's manual certainly did not mention it. Most calculators work in degrees. Decent calculators have a deg/rad/grad switch.
Is there a way to do this on the phone or am I forced to include a degrees-to-radians conversion in all my trig calculations?

I flashed 6.0 recently and restored some apps from an old backup, but nothing that looked like calculator. Should I be concerned, or is this a known thing?

I want to take an old android phone and turn it into a dedicated calculator. In other words, I'd like to make it so I boot up the phone and my calculator app is running, and there is no way to access any other app, the home screen, app drawer, anything. No lock screen either. Just this app and the settings app, which there would be a shortcut too in this app.
Is this possible? Is android the best OS for this project? Is there an easy way to make this happen?

It is good enough for me if I can do integer calculations, I don't really need floating point or arbitrary precision results.

Calculator on 4.2.2 lockscreen?
I'm wondering if it's possible to put the calculator app on the 4.2 lockscreen (similar to how the camera is there). Not a widget, but the app. I'm running the latest CM10.1 nightly, on a Sprint GS3. Thanks!
