Is there a way to run it inside a container of some sort, where it will just see "empty" local storage.
The phone is Pixel 5 with all the latest updates.

Background
1) Using a file explorer I can select an HTML file and it will start the default browser and then do its thing.
2) The HTML file is on an inserted SDCARD
3) In the browser, the HTML file takes some options and displays text relevant to those options
The reverse does not work (The Problem):
1) In a browser I enter the path for the HTML file shown by the file explorer
2) An example: the file explorer shows the path as **/storage/####-####/folder/filename.html**
3) In the browser I enter **file://** then the path above (####-#### is 8 numbers in two sets of 4)
4) This generates the response: "Access to the file was denied: it is not readable. may have been removed, moved or file permissions may be preventing access."
There is no user code
I wish to enter the file URL within the browser so it can be bookmarked for easy future access

Under CA certificate, we usually choose "Do not validate" but now CA certificates is set to "Use system certificates" and can't be changed. "Use system certificates" setting requires Domain name which I don't know and have never needed to use before in any ROM.
Is there any workaround to choose "Do not validate" in "CA certificate"?

How come the device's Home button now cannot turn the screen on, i.e., unlock the screen to get into Android 11? How to recover its ability to do so?
This is after trying to disable the Google Assistant prompt, then turning the screen on and unlocking the screen to get into OS's accesses:
1. Open built-in system settings
1. Choose Apps and Notifications
1. Choose: Default Apps
1. Go to "Digital Assistant Apps"
1. Tap on the text "Device Assistant App" with "Google" under it, having the gear/cog icon on the right side (which must not be tapped)
1. Choose the first option: "None"
1. Exit the system settings
How to recover the device's Home button's ability to turn the screen on?

Redmi note 8 pro
(MIUI 12.5.7, Android 11). The internal storage is 64GB of which 42.4GB are occupied but I just cannot find out by what data. I plugged the phone into my Windows 10 pc with the option "show hidden files" activated in Windows Explorer but I still could not see any files that would take that much space. When I select all folders of my internal data in win explorer manually and sum up their size I only get 118MB. I have deleted 1-2GB with DiskUsage but still 40GB remain. The apps I have installed should not occupy more than 10-15GB. So there are still about 25-30gb of unknown files that are swallowing up my phone's storage.
How can I find the files that take all the rest of the storage? Also, my internal disk space should be 64GB but windows says I only have 51.3GB which tells me that windows somewhat cannot see everything on my phone.

Why does this (new) Android 11 device consistently fail to receive Bluetooth file transfers, stopping mid-transfer between 1.1 and 3 MB (out of a 6.3 MB file)?
The transmitter is Windows 11 Bluetooth, which displays the error: "The connection was lost." However, an Android 6 device receives the same file successfully.
My primary suspicion is a difference between classic Bluetooth and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy).
Has anyone experienced this issue and found a solution? Please share any helpful knowledge.

I am running stock Android 11 on a Motorola device. I am trying to disable the feature that adds newly installed apps to my home screen.
I read an article How to stop new apps from being added to your home screen on Android Oreo that says
> ### How to stop new apps from being added to your home screen on Android Oreo |
> 1. Navigate to your Android device’s home screen
> 2. Locate a blank section of the display and long press on it
> 3. Three options will appear. Tap on **Home Settings**
> 4. Toggle the switch off (so that it’s grayed out) next to **Add Icon to Home screen**
but the switch to "Add icon to home screen" is missing.
Can somebody help me disable the feature?

I'm on a POCO phone M4 pro 5G, running MIUI Global 12.5.8 Android 11 RP1A 200720.01
Sometime I face this annoying problem which apparently no-one experencied on the internet.
If I'm sharing my connection via WI-FI Hotspot, at a point it may stop working as the button turns off. This may happen once or twice every week randomly (not linked to battery saving mode).
Once the hotspot button toggled off, I coudn't get toggle it on again not even by restarting my phone. As soon as I touch it, it toggles off again. This problem may go away by itselfs in a matter of minutes or hours.
I've never notice before but tonight this thing happenend and I got an error saying my GPS wasn't on anymore. When checking the position button it was toggled off as the hotspot one. I coundn't get back neither of them.
After 30 mins without any restart they started to work again.
What could be the problem... and the solution?
Thanks

I have a lot of **notifications**, like *SMS, Viber, WhatsApp, Facebook*, etc... all beeping all the day. I would like to remove *just the **sound*** of all these notifications, letting them vibrate, flash... whatever other things it does...
However, the ***calls** should not be muted*, I would like to have normal sound when someone calls me (via normal call, or via WhatsApp, Messanger, Viber, etc).
I can't believe at this day is not possible a thing like this on Android 11...
The idea is not to manage all the possible applications individually, but to **mute all NON-call sounds** in general on the phone, except "long calls" (phone and messengers calls, wake-up alarms, all calls that are waiting the user to 'finish' them).
I suppose there should be a more standard solution than this tricky one . I think there should be a setting like
SilentNotifications
On/Off
, if such thing is not present, it should be (Google tracker issue created)

I want to install an application directly from .apk file on my child's phone. This operation is blocked due to the fact that the device is controlled by a parent.
On my child's phone I have an application called "Parental Control" installed. It is clearly from Google (help icon points to Google resources) though I have no idea what is it and how does it differs from Google Family Link.
Tapping (?) icon in the top-right corner opens a Family Link help where I can read (in "Unlock your child's device" section):
> 1. On your child's device, click **Parent Access**.
> 2. Enter the password for the parent's account used to supervise the child.
The problem is that I cannot find even a trace of "Parent Access" button or menu item. Neither in this "Parental Control" nor anywhere within the system (Readme 9A, Android 11).
Trying to resolve the above, in addition to this "Parental Control", I have also installed "the original" (?) Google Family Link app (also on child's phone). But when I am trying to run it, I am falling into a never-ending loop of:
1. Welcome to Family Link
2. Continue as [child name] (button)
3. The Family Link app is for parents
4. Parent sign-in (button)
5. Welcome to Family Link
I don't know what am I missing or doing wrong.
**How can I access "parent mode" in Google Family Link-supervised child's phone? Or temporarily disable this supervision? How can I install some third-party application directly from .apk file on Google Family Link-supervised device?**
This Redmi 9A phone is used as a spare device when the actual phone (Redmi 11S) is being repaired. But I recall that I had exactly the same problems (i.e. never-ending loop in Google Family Link) on Redmi 11S.

I have some apps from F-Droid, installed while on Owner profile. But most of the apps are only visible to Owner (I suppose those are User apps, as the universally visible are System apps).
But how can I make some of these apps visible to other profiles so I can use them with all the features provided with separate user accounts (e.g. compartmentalized app data)? Preferably using only one device, without
ADB
connection to PC, and without re-installation.
There are similar questions on this topic ((https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/96026/if-the-owner-installs-an-app-can-a-secondary-profile-use-it) , (https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/51132/a-specific-app-works-fine-with-tablet-owner-account-but-crashes-for-other-users

I have a Moto G9 Plus that is stuck in a bootloop. I’ve tried flashing the stock firmware multiple times without success, and I cannot boot into recovery or use a custom recovery ROM since none is installed. My phone's bootloader is currently locked. I’ve obtained the unlock code from Motorola's official website and am seeking a way to unlock it so I can flash a custom ROM like LineageOS.
After researching potential solutions, I found that it might be possible to remove the memory storage from the motherboard and access the **persist partition** using an *UFI device* and an *eMMC toolkit*. Given this, I’m wondering if modifying the
OEM_UNLOCK
flag in the persist partition could bypass the "OEM Unlock" feature, allowing me to unlock my bootloader through fastboot.
If possible, would this approach break any security measures defined in the **vbmeta partition**?
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Apparently, I'm one of the few people who use his mailbox as a to-do list, but since I got a new phone with Android 11, I lose my icon badge as soon as I clear the notification.
In the past, I could mark an email as unread, and then it would show an icon badge with how many unread emails I had. That way I could read as email and keep it unread as a to-do list. Marking another mail as unread would add a 1 to the icon.
Is there a setting I'm missing which would allow this? The only thing I find is people saying they get a notification even though they don't have mail.

I've 2 new Android TVs (Android 11) from different brands, and during the 1st power-on, several questions were raised and the search of channels and Internet was configured.
However, I skipped to step of setting up a Google account.
At the moment, the TV is working, but I can't see any option to set up a favorite list of channels.
Unexpectedly, from Home, "Settings", "Channel", I can see only:
- Parental controls
- Open source licenses
- Version
In the past with other Android TV, I was able to set favorite channels without adding a Google account.
Is there any option to manage channels?
