I want to access the internet connection of my first android phone with my second android phone, via usb.
I am sensitive to wifi/network radiation emissions, so I want to connect the first phone via wifi or 3G network to the internet, and have internet access through a long usb cable, from my second phone, set on airplane mode.
I have a Galaxy S2 HD LTE SHV-120S Android version 4.0, rooted and stable
The second phone I have yet to purchase.
Are there apps to enable this? Drivers?

I have a rooted Pixel with Android 12. It is connected to a router to share the connection via tethering USB.
Phone -- ISP IP = random
-- tethering interface (rndis0) = IP random
Router -- IP client random
-- LAN IP 192.168.178.1
I would like my phone to reach my LAN.
At the moment, pinging 192.168.178.1 from the phone doesn't work.
Is it possible to do it without fixing the random IPs above?

I have two SIM cards with data bundles from different carriers. One is working fine with (WiFi) tethering, but with the second SIM card, I cannot use tethering.
Searching online, I saw that tethering can be blocked by blocking browsers' user-agent headers or alternatively, by using torrenting software headers, and other PC-related application headers. In my case, I cannot even
ping 8.8.8.8
from my laptop using the second SIM card, while I can from my Android using a terminal emulator.
The tethering problem with the second SIM card existed from the beginning. Perhaps I just loaded one web page with it (or it seemed like loading, but in reality, the browser retrieved it from its cache).
So in my case, how does the carrier block the tethering? Of course, the purpose of this question is to bypass this block. There is also the possibility that there is no block at all, but something else is causing the problem, but I am baffled because this should happen with both SIM cards, right?

So my idea for a project is a firewall for Android hotspot. Like on routers you can block access to certain websites, I want to implement it in Android. In settings, system can only limit number of connected users. There aren't advanced options (I'm using Android 13).
So if I for example block instagram on my firewall, the devices connected to my mobile hotspot won't be able to access it. Like a parental control.
I know I probably must root my phone for this, but it's no problem. The answers I read were old and I didn't find any specific instructions. People recommended using hosts file or iptables but I'm not sure it would work if the request isn't directly from my phone. Downloaded a few blockers but they also fail, or doesn't even have options to do this.
So the main question is, is it possible ? I wanted to ask before I start digging in my phone.

I don't actually need internet access at all. All I'm looking for is to set up a small WiFi LAN between an Android tablet and a small device running Debian Linux.

I have an Android phone which I can share its internet connection via Ethernet tethering through an adapter (Ethernet to USB-C adapter). The device (camera) which is connected to the phone is able to utilise the internet connection successfully.
I want to access the device from my Android phone using its local IP address in the web browser of my Android phone since that device (camera) has a webapp running on it which allows accessing its features and configurations. However when I type in the local IP address (or the local host name) of the device in the browser it times out (the IP address is correct and I have double checked this multiple ways).
1. is this possible on Android?
2. how can I achieve this?
3. is this a DNS problem? (my Android "Private DNS Mode" is set to "Automatic" which is the default option.
I can achieve this using a laptop running windows without any issues but being able to use a mobile phone is a lot more convenient, as it means I won't have to carry a laptop with me.

My phone is a Motorola G13 with Android 13. My computer is a Thinkpad W541 with Debian 12. I'm trying to access Internet on the computer through the phone's 4G. I've tried to use the phone as a wifi hotspot, and I've tried to share the connection through USB.
In both case, the computer connects to the local network correctly. The computer gets an IP address and a DNS server through DHCP. I can ping the DNS server from the computer. On the phone, I can access websites through the data.
However, if I try to ping an external IP from the computer, I get a "network unreachable" error. Same with curl, same with any other protocol I could think of. Same after booting up the computer with a Ubuntu Live USB stick. Both through wifi and through USB tether.
From all this, I'm inclined to think that there is some issue on the phone, that prevents the packets to be properly routed from the wifi/usb network, toward the 4g network. However, I have no idea how to actually find and fix the issue. I have already tried to change all the relevant settings I could find, and did a factory reset on the phone. None of that had any visible effect. I couldn't find any relevant help through googling either.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.

USB tether interface :
curl --interface enx1e8d3a3d4e80 1.1.1.1

ethernet interface :
curl --interface enp0s25 1.1.1.1

cloudflare ---------- EDIT : I've tried with a Windows 10 computer, and the network panel tells me "No Internet access : Your device is connected and can access other devices on your local network, but may not be able to reach the Internet." So the issue is definitely from the phone, not the Debian computer. ---------- EDIT : To answer comments : > Ping the gateway (your cell phone) : this works fine. > verify DNS resolution the dns answers, but the answer doesn't give an ip > Have you tried another tether method, like WiFi hotspot Exact same results as usb tether, as far as I can tell > another (friends) device with a similar plan/carrier I haven't any on hand, I'll try to see if I can find one.

Are there any known solutions to this, or other steps I should take to troubleshoot?

I used to connect my laptop to the internet via USB tethering from my android phone (running android 6), and then connect to my organization's VPN.
I got myself a new phone, and realized that it blocks VPN connections. Apparently this issue has been discussed before but that was ~7 years ago, and the solutions offered do not work for me. In particular, the "APN protocol" is already set to IPV4.
What is the most recommendable way of getting VPN to work in a laptop connected to the internet with a modern android (in my case it's android 13) through USB tethering or wifi hotspot?

Question is: How can I permanently change my USB tethering IP address?
Using Android 11 with a known problem of changing IPs.
Only answer I found is https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/213514/how-can-i-permanently-change-my-hotspot-tethering-ip-address by @irfan-latif .
It would be best to comment there, but I do not have 50 points...
Problem is that I could not make fixed Android IP when tethering USB. I have rooted Andorid with Magisk, which I understood is a requirement.
With Method 2, I added to /etc/init/usbd.rc (there it is said any .rc file) this, changing to rndis0:
on property:init.svc.hostapd=running
exec - -- /system/bin/sleep 2
exec u:r:magisk:s0 -- /system/bin/ip address add 192.168.43.100/24 dev rndis0
But I do not see it working, also 'ip address' on Android does not show that range.
Note: there is a related question at https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/225643/how-to-make-ethernet-work-on-android-over-otg/225741#225741 .
Anyone may also help with mentioning this question there, hopefully mr. Latif would notice.

I recently switched to a Samsung S23, Android version 13.
It seems that in the quick setting buttons (when you swipe down), the button "Hotspot" is missing, which toggles whether the phone provides a wi-fi hotspot for other devices.
There are some online articles discussing that this setting might be disabled based on your provider. I have bought the phone independently from a provider.
I tried [this workaround described by XDA Developers](https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-restore-mobile-data-quick-settings-tile-toggle-on-samsung-galaxy-devices/) which uses _adb_ to add _MobileData_ and _Hotspot_ to the _sysui_qs_tiles_ list. However, that does not seem to have an effect, the desired button does not show up.
Any suggestions of what I might try?

I'm using PdaNet to connect my laptop to the Internet. From there I'm using an ethernet cable and Internet conection sharing to connect my PS3 for online gaming. Works pretty good for most games, but one in particular will not connect to the server. I need to know how to adjust the router settings when (I think) the phone is the router. In particular, how can I forward ports and enable UPnP?
If this isn't possible, is there another setup i could use to get what I want? I've got my laptop running Win7 64 bit, a Belkin Play N600 router (not used currently), a stock LG axis AS 740 Android phone (2.1 OS) and the PS3. Oh, and the game I'm trying to play is Modern Warfare 3. I'm just not very tech savvy.

## **Question summary:** ##
Why am I experiencing these issues (not being able to connect to the above-mentioned websites), and how can these issues be resolved? Can you help me test what I think is causing the issues?

## **Proposed causes:** ##
1. **Perhaps the reason I cannot access these sites is because they are in use by the phone?** If that is the case, I am not sure how to test it. So far, when I "force-stop" and "disable" an app like LINE, I still cannot connect. So, I thought: *it's possible that the phone is reserving the app's networking info, somehow.* **So, I went so far as to uninstall Line from my phone and reset the phone and PC. Still unable to use Line on the PC. Furthermore; Skype works simultaneously on PC and Phone.**
2. **Perhaps it's a PC or OS issue?** I still have yet to tether my phones to a different PC or OS.
3. **Perhaps it's a DNS issue?** I still have yet to test this, but I believe I get a similar error with OpenDNS when trying to access localhost.
4. **"Activate EasyTether or use it with UDP and secure sites BLOCKED**? This message appears at the top of Easy Tether's settings screen. I'm very curious to know whether or not this is the cause. It seems highly likely.

This works fine and the speed is acceptable, but every time I disconnect/go out of BT range I have to re-establish the connection. With WiFi tethering this problem does not occur, but WiFi uses a lot more battery power.
Is there any way to make USB and/or BT re-connection automatic?

I have no GCNat in front of the Pixel 7. In fact i can forward non priviliged ports with the Fwd: port forwarder app and its working as expected
Ideally all ports would be forwarded to the router as i also want to use Wireguard. I would also be happy if the phone is only working as a dumb modem, bridging the two interfaces.
I already tried the answers here and here , but requests always timed out.
