I referred to https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/18450/where-is-the-background-image-saved , but my /data/data/com.android.settings/files folder is empty (I do have my file browser showing hidden files). It was confirmed in that question that ICS stored it in that location, but did Jellybean move it to a different place?

Intermittently, when I try to connect to a WiFi network, I get the following error message as a toast message: > Failed to connect to network The message pops up immediately upon attempting to connect, so clearly it isn't trying and failing. I haven't found any mention of an error in the logs. The affected networks are ones that I've previously connected to with no change in settings. **How can I figure out what the problem is?** I've got a rooted Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.1.1 and the stock ROM. This question is related to another question that I posted earlier , but this one is more about how to find the source of a particular error message, so its focus is different. # Additional Details Here are some more details based on the comments: * I've observed this on my home and work networks. One is identified as WPA2 PSK and the other is identified as WPA/WPA2 PSK. * I haven't powered off the phone as described in the troubleshooting guide mentioned in the comments. However, I have rebooted to no avail (using the reboot command that's available on rooted phones). * Forgetting the network and re-adding it has no effect. In fact, if I forget the network I can no longer successfully re-add it. * The wireless password hasn't changed. * There's no proxy configured when I'm on wireless. However, I run Onavo Extend when I'm on a data connection. Disabling it has no effect. * I've switched from DHCP to static IP addresses. Doing so reduced the frequency of problems and seems to have eliminated my earlier issue where wifi would be randomly dropped. * Wifi sleep is set to "Only when plugged in." I don't think it's relevant because my issue is establishing a connection in the first place (such as when I arrive at home or at work), not maintaining one. Note that despite all these troubleshooting steps,**my initial goal is to find an actual error message or log entry that gives useful information about the problem.**

I have an old Android 4.1 tablet running on a Rockchip processor. While it’s quite slow, it still works well enough to display a clock or a web dashboard. The problem is that I can’t browse the internet anymore. I believe this is because many modern websites (likely using CDNs and reverse proxies for load balancing) now require TLS 1.2 or 1.3, which isn’t supported by the outdated Chrome browser installed on this device. Unfortunately, I can’t update to a newer browser since they no longer support Android 4.1. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can enable web surfing again on this tablet?

Copying those two files to SD card and booting into recovery leads to a "aborting finding installation package" (from my mind, probably worded a bit different). In recovery, the .img file was available in the /sdcard/ folder and not /udisk/. What is the /udisk/ folder? How can I get files to appear in there?

I am using an original RAZR that is partitioned using Safestrap running stock 4.1 on one partition and CM10.1 on the other. My problem is the internal storage (internal SD card I believe) partition running CM10.1 has a corrupt file system and I am having trouble running a check and repair. The internal storage always shows 0.0b available and no files can be saved to that disk space. The OS restores to default on every reboot, I'm guessing the config files are failing to save when I get through the setup. Troubleshooting steps/questions so far... - Using Safestrap I have tried to wipe the system and all caches, then reinstall CM10.1 but no luck. The version I have of SS does not provide a file system check. - I can connect using shell and ADB, just not sure exactly what commands to run from there. Specifically how do I find out what file system to mount and how do I type that out as an argument? Do I use the fsck_msdos program that I have available in the /system/xbin folder? If so how do I find the file system information to complete the syntax for running the fsck? If fsck is the correct method to repair where do I run it from? Stock or CM installation? ADB shell or terminal from a running droid OS?

For example android system, com.android dun server and com.android.lgsetup wizard (i.e. any prebuilt system apps). And every few seconds this message would appear: Sorry! The process com.android.phone has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. And I cannot even go to the browser or Task Killer because every time I do, it would force quit. How can I reinstall those apps? I think I cleared all data for those but I did not clear the browser and so why can't I open the browser? Do I really need to send it for repair or can I fix it? I'm experiencing an annoying (and costly) problem on my HTC Desire X. (Android 4.1.1) Every time I send a single message to multiple contacts at the same time, the message will be sent as MMS rather than SMS, even though it is a normal text message (not too many words). I am using Facebook's messenger app to send 'normal' messages as well, but I don't think it has anything to do with it. EDIT: okay, so after some testing I noticed it **has** to do with Facebook messenger's app. I went over all settings but can't seem to find anything that disables MMS for group messaging?

I have one phone that upon plugged into a computer, shows up as an MTP device. The SD card and the internal storage are visible on the computer. I can also change it to only mount the SD card and then it unmounts the SD card from the phone and directly connects it like if it were to be an SD to USB adapter. I want to be able to do this on another phone, but not with an SD card, I want to be able to use a part of the internal flash memory in the same manner so that I can connect the phone as if it were a USB stick and I also want to be able to connect it as an MTP device. It would be handy if I can do this with tmpfs too, so I can basically use the phone's available RAM as temporary high speed USB storage. The reason I want to do this is because MTP is incredibly slow for loading the directories, file transfer is a bit faster but still a fraction of what USB 2.0 can achieve. I want to use the RAM so that the internal storage isn't affected and filled up for no reason since the phone doesn't have that much free storage. On the other phone, connecting it in SD card adapter mode causes windows to see it as an actual sd card so Windows doesn't open the storage in MTP mode which misses file properties and is super sluggish. Another reason for using RAM is that the internal storage can't be unmounted while Android is running on the phone so you wouldn't be able to use it as USB storage in anything other than MTP. Are there any ways of doing this using busybox, or by modifying some system files? I know this has to be possible but I don't know how it works with the SD card adapter mode on the ohter phone and I don't know how to replicate it for other storage media. The phone is rooted so I can do anything to the system I want. Preferrably on Android 4 and up. How can I accomplish such result? - Update I was able to get UMS working on the phone thanks to Irfan's comment. I can change the drive that mounts by editing the "file" file. To do this, first the command cat /proc/partitions. Then you can write echo '/dev/block/vold/:' -n> /sys/devices/virtual/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage/lun/file I am not done yet though, I need to know how to now how to forward the path in "file" to tmpfs. I can't find a device file for tmpfs like all the other partitions. Is there a vold partition for tmpfs, or can I maybe link to a folder in file? How can I put the path to tmpfs inside "file"?

So far, when I "force-stop" and "disable" an app like LINE, I still cannot connect. So, I thought: *it's possible that the phone is reserving the app's networking info, somehow.* **So, I went so far as to uninstall Line from my phone and reset the phone and PC. Still unable to use Line on the PC. Furthermore; Skype works simultaneously on PC and Phone.** 2. **Perhaps it's a PC or OS issue?** I still have yet to tether my phones to a different PC or OS. 3. **Perhaps it's a DNS issue?** I still have yet to test this, but I believe I get a similar error with OpenDNS when trying to access localhost. 4. **"Activate EasyTether or use it with UDP and secure sites BLOCKED**? This message appears at the top of Easy Tether's settings screen. I'm very curious to know whether or not this is the cause. It seems highly likely.

I have an old Samsung Galaxy III Mini (GT-I8190N) that was running O2 (UK telco) firmware and the latest Jellybean browsers: Chrome 42, Firefox 68 etc., that worked with TLS 1.2. I've flashed the firmware with the last Samsung BTU 4.1.2 Jellybean firmware, which takes Chrome down to version 28. That doesn't work with TLS 1.2, and attempting to update via Google Play fails with "Error: No connection", which I'm assuming is also a TLS error. What steps do I need to take to restore Google Play so I can patch the apps to the same versions as the O2 firmware? Edit: Post Robert's answer: I sideloaded a 24.x version of Google Play Store and a 20.x Google Play Services. That got things moving again. They updated to 25.2 and 21.33 respectively. A sideloaded earlier version of Firefox wouldn't update, but the APK of 68.11 is available from Mozilla's servers. Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Opera Mini all work with TLS1.2. The stock Android Browser 4.0 doesn't.
