Or, 'My tablet's hardware "Volume Up" button is broken, now what?' I'm trying to root an Asus TF300TG Transformer tablet (a 2012 model, unlocked) following [this guide on XDA Forum](https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617298) : - I have installed the USB drivers on my computer - Rebooted tablet to fastboot - Flashed the TWRP recovery without problems - (Rebooted normally, verified that tablet still works as usual) - Rebooted to fastboot again - Got to the point where I should boot to the new recovery That step requires me to press the Volume Up button to select the recovery option on this screen: Image In my tablet, however, the button is broken (and has been for some years now). Is there a way to get into recovery without actually pushing it? What I've tried: - Pushing harder - Pushing the other two HW buttons: Volume Down moves the selection, Power does nothing - Connecting the keyboard dock: there is a Volume Up button, but it doesn't do anything in fastboot mode; none of the dock buttons do anything - Connecting a USB keyboard via the dock: no keypresses seem to do anything in fastboot - Rebooting to recovery using fastboot reboot recovery: invalid command - Booting an image using fastboot boot twrp.blob (and various other recovery images from my computer): loaded to tablet, then failed (note the empty error message)
downloading 'boot.img'...
   OKAY [ 0.398s]
   booting... FAILED (remote: )
Is there a different way to get to recovery?

I have an **Asus Transformer TF101** that is running **Android 4.0.3**. The tablet can connect websites in HTTP without issue but not in HTTPS. **Most HTTPS websites are totally unreachable.** Some websites (from large institutions) are reachable after accepting several certificat issues warnings, but display badly. The clock of the tablet was set correctly. I assume the issue has to see with how the tablet is able to deal with certificates, and also with its aging native Internet browser (which is not apparently not Chrome). **I unsuccessfully attempted upgrading the tablet firmware**, but got an error message "**Internet connection error or server busy**. Please wait and try again". I assume this issue could be caused by disabled upgrade server and/or SSL certificate issues. **Is there still a way to upgrade such a tablet**, preferably without jailbreaking it?

However, It seems insane to manufacture and market a high-end tablet that can't charge without a giant peripheral (and sell/price the thing independently too). Am I missing something? Or, is Asus just insane?

My ASUS Transformer TF101 charges extremely slowly using the original power adapter. **I'm trying to figure out the cause.** Here are all my knowns: 1. The power block (wall to USB adapter) charges my mobile phone without issues 2. The power block plus ASUS cable turns on my Transformer if it is off, or wakes it up if it is sleeping (but charges extremely slowly) 3. The ASUS cable lets me MTP and all that from computer and tablet 4. I installed ICS when in April and now its running 4.0.3 5. The charger does charge, but extremely slowly both on Keyboard dock and Tablet (a few days to get to 20%) 6. It definitely has not been near water, dust, direct sunlight or particle accelerators From this I gauge: it's not the power block or the cable, and the only change was ICS a few months back which worked okay (first update was buggy, but the next one fixed this). *Anyone else had this or know why it could be?*

I have an Asus EEE Pad Transformer TF101 Android tablet and docking station. It came with Android v3.2 installed, and I have since then upgraded OTA to 4.0. I haven't used the dock much but it used to work. Recently I did a factory reset, because I intend to sell this. But now, the physical keyboard of the docking station is not working. The tablet shows the docked indicator when docked. The touchpad works. The extra battery works. The USB ports work, but not the keyboard. The virtual keyboard is showing hardware keyboard ON when docked but keypresses does nothing. If I move the slider to OFF then the virtual keyboard is working. I have reset a few times now and the same issue remains. What happened, and how can I try to fix this?

I had recorded the video on my Powershot ELPH 310HS camera in 1080p setting and it is saved in h264 format. I tried putting the SD card into the dock and playg back the video but the playback is very slow and I think it i sbeing done in software.I installed the MX video player app to play back the video. My question is if there is any way to do playback using a HW video decoder? I thik that I've read that the tegra 2 has this bultin but I don't know enough about video formats to know whether this is a hardware limitation or whether it could be solved with a diffferent app.

I purchased an Asus Transformer Prime TF201 a couple years ago. I added a pattern lock on this tablet so our kids would not use it all the time. One of them decied to try the pattern too many times. Now, it is stuck at the Too Many Pattern Attempts screen. This has happened before and I was able to reset it by using my Google Account (wifi was on). However, this time, I had to charge the device first before turning it on and discovered that it was in lock mode again! I tried to get past the lock screen using Google credentials, but no go. I am assuming the wifi turns off when the battery is drained. And because wifi is off, it cannot authenticate using my Google Account. I know my Google credentials and I also know the pattern, but I cannot use them! I have pics and videos of our children that I do not want to loose. I have been doing research for a few days now and it seems that if USB debugging was enabled, I could just run some adb commands (using the adb executable) and reset it to the point where I could try the pattern again. But USB debugging is NOT enabled! I am not sure this device is rooted?? I know that when I was using it, I was able to see all the directories (using the AndSMB app, but not sure if i was able to write to all dirs). It is a stock device with no mods. It was upgraded to 4.1.1 (it was an update supplied from Asus). **Some good news:** I am able to start the device in fastboot mode and it is detectable using the fastboot command tool (via Windows or Linux) while connected to supplied usb cable. There is a tool called Android Script Creator (by Octanium) that can create an update zip file from custom commands. I was able to create a zip file named Update.zip with the following commands.. ui_print("attempting to start wifi.."); run_program("svc", "wifi", "enable"); ui_print("done"); **Questions** 1. Am I on the right track? 2. Will the script I wrote work? 3. How do I run this update file I created? 4. Does the Update.zip file need to be flashed (or copied - what's the difference?) to an external SD card? 5. Can I use the fastboot tool to place this zip file on the internal memory and have it run? Additional Info.. i found some links that may help.. but not sure what to do.. This link points to an article that describes how to use an update zip file, but it says to flash the CWM. Is the CWM necessary to run an Update.zip file? http://www.morethantechnical.com/2013/01/29/a-creative-way-to-bypass-pattern-lock-on-android/ This page seems to have the recovery files (and it has Transformer Prime), but what do i do with the recovery file? It is an *.IMG file! https://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager

My Transformer TF301 is stuck at a black screen, well sort of a backlit black screen. I have tried Volume Down-Power (for 10, 20, and 30 seconds) no joy. VolumeUp-Power, no joy. Finally found something thin enough (staple in the end) to push the hardware reset button. No joy. Holding power is not shutting it off either. My son (six years old) is the only real user, and I cannot imagine he installed/rooted it. I see no visual sign that he damaged it. It is in a case as well, which should mitigate any physical damage he might cause. If I hold power button it goes black, but any other press and you get a backlit black screen. Nothing seems to budge it. What are my options to recover?

I tried unrooting using the method provided here , but it didn't detect my device. Also it won't go into APX mode and I can't see anything that's happening on the screen. I was thinking I could connect the tablet to a TV, but I don't want to purchase an HDMI cable before I have a sure method that will unroot my tablet. The serial starts with B6O, and since it's the backlight that's broken I can still see very limited parts of the screen.

How can I watch movies on my tablet (Asus Transformer tablet with Android 3.2) offline? I recognize that this is a very basic question, however, I can not find any step-by-step instructions on this site or online. It is also not clear if any popular sites such as Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu support offline viewing. I think that it would be useful to have step-by-step instructions. If I had the tablet in my hands, I would probably be able to figure something out - even though it is a new device and my first experience with Android. However, my wife has taken it and the children on a trip, and would like to use it for entertainment on the flight home.
