Is possible install Eclipse IDE in Honeycomb?
Since Eclipse IDE can run in Linux and the new Honeycomb has a Linux Kernel, can Eclipse IDE run in Android Honeycomb ? I know that isn't pretty much comfortable coding in a tablet, but I'd want to use for UML modeling.

My question is is there a way to force a particular android apps for Android version below 4 to run in the background when the phone is sleeping? Also, I should be able to call those android apps that I specific to run in the background to come to the foreground for me to interact with.
The problem is that some apps, they stop working when the phone when to sleep (due to power saving). Some apps even prompt errors. However, I need them to run in the background. Also, I know that I can use 'Force close' to force a apps running in the background to stop but I just could not find a way to make a particular android apps to run in the background whenever I needed.

Can someone please explain why there's a whole major version of Android that is apparently unused, while the previous and the next major versions are in wide use? Was 3.x quickly replaced by 4 and all devices forced to upgrade? What would have made 3.x so bad that no one uses it?

These docs suggest that it has been available (only) since Android 3.0 Honeycomb. By contrast, conversation on discussion boards suggests it was available in 2.3.4 Gingerbread .
So, what is the answer to the titular question?
*Bonus points if your answer clarifies the following. Are the official docs misleading? Or were those Gingerbread devices instead released **after** Honeycomb, and loaded with some kind of backported encryption feature? Or were those Gingerbread devices instead loaded with some kind of encryption feature added by the device manufacturers, that wasn't part of Android? In short, what gives?*

I am considering an Acer Iconia A500 device as a book reader. Having years of experience with using (and programming) different devices (PDAs, smartphones, tablet PC, book readers), I am used to charge the reading device (whichever I use) only once in a week or so. When I don't read, I hope to have it in sleeping mode consuming only minimal energy (as it's a bookreader, I don't need it running any background apps or hanging on the net).
So the question is - do Honeycomb devices have a true standby mode which can keep the battery for a week or so (and let the device power on in less than 10 seconds), and not just "sleep" mode we see in Android 2.2 smartphones?
Update: got myself the above mentioned device. It holds power for about a week when not used, so I guess this is close to what I would like to have with sleep mode.

When I browse Tumblr on say my iPod Touch or Droid, sometimes GIFs work, sometimes they just don't. I played around with an iPad 1 a while ago and it also had trouble playing some GIFs.
I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Eee Pad and if it has these same problems with playing animated GIFs?

I was rather shocked to learn that my Xoom tablet, running Honeycomb (3.0.1) does not support the ability to group home screen shortcuts into folders. Nor does it seem to provide a stock widget that could be used for organizing shortcuts.
Coming from a Froyo (DroidX) phone and iPad, both of which have long supported folder functionality, this is a huge surprise and my only big disappointment with Honeycomb.
I have found 3rd party apps that can help this (Folder Organizer ), but this App is overly complex for the given task. If anyone can recommend an app that does nothing but simple iOS-like folder organization, that would be great. (I realize there are many alternative launcher/homescreen repplacements that support folders, but would rather not broaden the discussion that far for now).
I find it embarrassing to have to explain to iPad users that Honeycomb does not have anything like folder organization for apps built-in to the OS. Is this a design "feature" of Android? Does Google prefer another method for organizing home screen icons? Is it coming in a future release?
