Mobile operators in Brazil have added a leading digit, but *only* for São Paulo numbers. Now, both landline numbers (in São Paulo and otherwise) and mobile numbers from other states have 8 digits, while São Paulo mobile numbers have 9 (in addition to the optional area code that's 2 digits).
I'd like 8-digit numbers to be formatted like 1234-5678 and 9-digit numbers formatted like 123-456-789. Is this possible?
I've read the answers to following questions and none of them anwers this question:

I have recently reinstalled Android on B63M due to some problems with the SD Card. I decided to keep all my contacts **only** in Gmail, as a centralized solution to avoid problems in the future. I do **not** want other SIM or phone contacts to show in the contacts list anymore.
However, if I try to uncheck both the SIM and phone contacts and I *do* check all possible Google contacts groups and the option for showing only contacts with a phone number1, **no** contact is shown at all. If I also show the phone contacts, then the Google contacts *are* shown (and thus I have some duplicates), but removing the phone contacts removes the Google contacts too.
Note that **the contacts are perfectly synched and all under the *My contacts* group**. It's **not** a synchronisation problem. I'm asking why I *must* select the *show phone contacts* in order to see *any* contact at all (from whichever source you like. Even SIM. I *cannot* show only the SIM contacts without the *show phone contacts* enabled.)
To make things clearer, here are some screenshots of the situation:
Here I have set *only* the phone contacts (*Contatti del telefono* in Italian), without Google contacts:
Here I have added the Google contacts in the options *and they are shown* (see red rectangles. Note the number of contacts at the top going from 116 to 156):
Now, I'd expect that removing the phone contacts I should see only the Google contacts (in this case those that above have red rectangles and the other not shown), but this is what I get:
On the right, it just says that there are no contacts to show and that I can add new contacts or import/export from other sources.
What should I do such that this last set of options *does* show the Google contacts?
------
1 Having or not this option active doesn't change anything. Even if it is not active no contact is shown.

This questions pertains specifically the GT-i9100 version (not GT-i9100G nor GT-i9100T, et cetera), which currently has no entry under the rooting index .
I am particularly looking for a rooting method which does not wipe the data on the phone, as [I am hoping to recover data afterwards](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/89133/data-recovery-on-boot-looped-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-gt-i9100) . I have an 8GB external SD card.

I have a boot-looped Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100, running the Android 2.3 Gingerbread it came with, unrooted and unmodified (although Optus-branded).
The phone's battery depleted while the phone was running; now, any attempt to boot the phone results in the boot sequence looping indefinitely.
I wish to recover data from this device (before attempting to solve the boot-loop problem later via factory reset or other method).
I read the [
boot-loop
tag information](https://android.stackexchange.com/tags/boot-loop/info) but the instructions have not been helpful for me: I have tried to boot into Safe Mode, but my attempts also trigger the indefinite boot-loop; I wiped the cache via stock recovery but that had no effect; and, the last recommendation was a factory reset which I won't follow until I have recovered the data.
I believe USB Debugging is already enabled. I have an 8GB external SD card and I have Linux Mint 13 as my desktop operating system.
[This answer](https://android.stackexchange.com/a/59044/81471) indicated that it should be possible to root the phone and recover data via the [Android Debug Bridge (ADB)](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_software_development#ADB) for a different Samsung Galaxy S version, but I need instructions for the Samsung Galaxy S II GT-i9100 if this avenue is worth pursuing.
This seems related to [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/71776/samsung-galaxy-2-stuck-at-start-up-can-i-recovery-the-phone-or-at-least-the-dat) but could be a different [variant](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_II#Variants) and issue. It's not the same as [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/39316/how-to-regain-control-over-a-samsung-galaxy-s-ii-with-a-boot-loop) because I need to recover data.

When I opened multiple pages/tabs on the Opera Mini 7.5, I pressed the home button to switch apps to see SMS, then returned to the Opera app by holding the Home button. Suddenly, my opened tabs were missing, just like opening a new tab.
There is a task-killer application, but I can't remove it. This application has been installed as a default application in the Android phone. I was trying to delete some of the system apps, but there was no option saying "Delete" or "Uninstall". I also turned off all the Developer Options.
How to keep the Opera Browser's tabs active when switching to another application?

When I got my first cell phone I was told to put a "In case of an emergency call XXX" at the top of my list of phone numbers. While I haven't ever benefited directly from that, I have benefited from similar emergency preparedness advice. My old phone finally made the trip to electronics heaven (RIP dear RAZR) and I moved over to a Verizon Android phone (Samsung Stratosphere - with Gingerbread 2.3.5). I really like that I can "lock" this phone to prevent someone else from using it in malicious ways, but I would really like a method for someone to be able to determine who my emergency contacts are, and ideally contact those people, if I'm ever incapacitated.
When I saw the "Emergency Call" button I thought that might be the functionality I was looking for, but it isn't - ( https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/7731/what-is-an-emergency-call-and-can-i-set-number-for-it )
Is there any way to have two or three people and their contact info accessible without unlocking the phone?
***Clarifying edit***: Maybe I'm being picky, but I'd also like to have my emergency contacts actually able to be contacted, i.e., someone could pick up my phone - without knowing the lock code - and actually be able to *call* my emergency contacts.

I have a Samsung device of 8GB with an SD card of additional 32GB.
I'm using many apps that cache data for offline use (mainly Google Play Music ), these apps are not smart enough to determine the 32GB of available space and take advantage of it, but instead claim 'no space'.
I thought perhaps there is a workaround for it by merging the external storage with the internal so the apps 'think' there is 48GB.
I don't use several SD cards which means I'm not gonna switch SDs back and forth any time soon.
Do you know a hack for it? Or any solution to make Google Music store its stuff into all available space wherever it is?
I've read [this](http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1251896) link, but since I'm not so much into Android development, I didn't understand it, can anyone refer me or translate it into a more detailed guide (I'm not a complete noob, but I'm not a hacker).
P.S. My device is rooted.

This works fine, but only if the mobile phone and the "controlling PC" are in the same subnet, or if traffic from PC -> mobile phone is routable.
At work, this isn't the case for me… :/ **The WiFi devices are in a separate subnet, and the *office network devices cannot reach the WiFi devices*.** That's done on purpose and is to be accepted as an unchangeable fact (at least for the time being).
If the mobile phone were a normal PC/Mac/Linux system, I'd install TeamViewer on it and be all set. But there's no *TeamViewer server for Android*, is there?
Well, what are your suggestions? How can one remote control the Android smartphone from a Linux (or any…) system, if the PC doesn't "see" the mobile phone?
I do have USB and Bluetooth available, if this helps.
Cheers.

that is:
long press up = next song.
long press down = previous song.
short press up = volume up
short press down = volume down
I would like to keep using the HTC ROM, since I like the sense UI, and also id like to keep using the HTC music player, I think is simple and is able to manage correctly the compilations albums.
Does anyone know of an app that can do this, that is NOT another music player.
Or as a 2nd option to explain if it is possible to create my own app for it and maybe to make some points towards the right direction to do this.

### Preface (TL;DR)
I know the issue of insufficient space has been discussed in various contexts but I have not found anything that specifically addresses the circumstances and issues that I am facing, so I am hoping to get some feedback that would help me better understand what is going on.
I have an HTC EVO 4g from Sprint running Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) which has been unlocked using the Dev patch provided by HTC. Although it is rooted and I can apply a custom ROM to it, I have not done so yet for several reasons I won't get into but my issue should be independent of that. This phone is by far (in my humble opinion) one of the best and most stable piece of hardware that HTC has produced to date and I couldn't be happier with the phone, hence why I have not upgraded to a newer device. I know the older OS is a turn off to many and I agree that I wish I was running a higher version but most of them don't honor the latest drivers available which means you lose 4G functionality among other things. So I have stuck with it for now until such time as an updated drivers are released (doubtful but one can hope).
I have an 8 GB SD card (7.39 GB usable) and 4.05 GB free - since I move anything that has the option to run off the SD card to external storage. I have 500 MB internal storage (427 MB usable) and a little over 60 MB free. I have never had issues updating anything since the space present has always been enough to install or update before moving stuff to free more space.
## The problem
Recently when updating apps it often gives me the
insufficient storage available
message – but it makes no sense to me.
Storage facts:
* external SD with 8 GB (4 GB free)
* internal storage with 500 MB (60 MB free)
* example problematic app: apk size ~6 MB / installed size 11.46 MB
### Detailed problem (again: TL;DR)
Specifically the app that is giving the problem recently is Lookout Security & Antivirus which has never been an issue and is only 6 MB and change but it will download it and when attempting to install pops that error. I don't get how a 6 MB file that has never had issue updating on less than 40 MB space is now giving me problems with over 60 MB free? The baffling part is that occasionally it WILL actually update just fine without issue and I have checked my cache and stuff, nothing there, no other apps running that would hog space or anything, so what's wrong? How can I mitigate this? Another bizarre thing that started to happen is that internal apps like Facebook which are bloated on there whether I like it or not and I use rarely are giving me problems too by issuing the invalid page file error. I mean what?
**So what's going on here? What is wrong or what can I do to make it right** so it stops being stupid like this? As I said, NEVER had a single issue with this phone, EVER, but in the past month it has driven me absolutely NUTS. I have even uninstalled applications that don't provide the move to SD option to free up nominal space and it stabilizes for like 2 days and then bam, back to square one even though it has more space now. I am at my wits end and I would appreciate the help; especially not being a novice this is even more mind boggling to me.
**UPDATE: 10/26/13 @7:45 AM**
The application updated normally without giving the error and it did so while the internal storage had only 43 MB (as opposed to the 60 MB when it failed numerously). This lends itself to even more confusion as to what is going on. The ONLY thing that was done in the meantime was that I rebooted the phone (actually more like I was low on power, shut it down and when I connected it to the charger, turned it on)

So I just booted up my old Xperia Neo and found myself to be unable to do almost anything.
I actually just wanted to download an app from the Playstore and test it.
But when I open the Playstore, I get
Error while retrieving information from server [RH-01]
. Googleing how to fix that I found a post where someone mentioned that you need to install "gapps".
So I downloaded that using my PC.
But I cannot connect the internal phone storage to my computer, only the empty SD-card slot. No matter if I'm in MTP or MSC mode.
So I fired up the browser on my phone and tried to download the files directly. But now my browser says "An SD card is required to download gapps[...].zip". I do have enough storage left on my phone.
So basically the phone is bricked.
