After the Android Youtube app updated a few days ago on November 7th 2024, I have been having these two problems: - Pressing back arrow from video view, the mini player disappears outside the screen but audio keeps playing. - After pausing the video, it refuses to continue. I see from Google Play reviews that some other users are also having these problems, but not all. In case it matters, I'm using Oneplus Nord CE 5G and running OxygenOS/Android 13.

I have a Nokia G22 phone with Android 12. I would like to have automatic updating working, or at least to be notified on new app updates in Google Play Store. In Applications > Google Play Store I have "Updates available" notifications turned on. I even have automatic updates of apps turned on through wi-fi. I am connected to wi-fi most of my daily phone use. Currently I need to check and run the updates manually in Google Play Store > tap to my profile > Manage applications and devices > Updates Available, and each time I check it, I see tens of updates available. How can I automate this? What else should I check to be turned on?

F-Droid keeps downloading apps that were installed from other stores
F-Droid, again and again, downloads updates for an app that is installed via another (namely Play) store. Obviously, it cannot be installed because of different signatures. How can I get F-Droid to ignore foreign-store apps?

Historically, Google did not mess with Android apps installed via the open source F-Droid project . Suddenly, however, Google's Play Store is now trying to update apps installed via F-Droid. There are obvious privacy implications (Google is now likely aware of which F-Droid apps you have installed), but also significant security implications (F-Droid has a stellar security reputation, whereas Google has a deplorable security reputation). Given that, to my knowledge, Google's Play Store does not obtain files from F-Droid repositories, it stands to reason that it likely overrides F-Droid's APK trusted files with Google's untrusted APK files during any updates. Can anyone confirm this hypothesis and shed any light on why Google's Play Store is suddenly trying to update apps installed that the user installed via F-Droid?

Often when I launch some apps, I get the monit asking me to update such an app. As I found out, it's so called "flexible update flow " that came with Android 5.0 (API v21). Is there a way to block it without patching such an app? Like blocking some Google service/app drawing on top?

In the Google Play setting, the App download preference is 'over any network', and the 'Auto-update apps' is 'over any network'. So I expected all apps to be updated automatically, but 16 updates are pending now. It has happened since I first bought this device, so I should have to select 'update all' manually every time. Is there a fix for this? Play store updates pending Play store setting

Can this be stopped?

Recently, I've noticed Google Play Store automatically "updating" apps, even when auto-updates are **explicitly disabled**. I put *"updating"* in quotes, because all the apps in question don't truly have any updates available (according to the Google Play Store). Yet Google Play Store is downloading updates for these apps, and tools like SD Maid indicate recent "Last update" dates for each of these apps. This updating is happening to almost every app. It's not limited to 1 or 2 apps, or a few specific developers. An example is Date Calculator Pro . Google Play Store indicates the last update for that app was the 25th of December, 2020. But I caught Google Play Store updating that app today. I *suspect* Google changed some policies and either Google itself is pushing updates to non-Google apps, or developers are scrambling to issue new "updates", even when no new functionality is added. But what's really weird is that the Google Play Store does not indicate any recent updates for any of these apps, and version numbers are not incremented. Those are just my guesses. What's really going on?

I have a specific app that I sideloaded an old version (but is also on the app store). I'm worried that if I have auto-update on it will update to the app store version. Optimally I'd like auto-updates on for all apps except for the one I sideloaded. Thanks!

### Preface (TL;DR) I know the issue of insufficient space has been discussed in various contexts but I have not found anything that specifically addresses the circumstances and issues that I am facing, so I am hoping to get some feedback that would help me better understand what is going on. I have an HTC EVO 4g from Sprint running Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread) which has been unlocked using the Dev patch provided by HTC. Although it is rooted and I can apply a custom ROM to it, I have not done so yet for several reasons I won't get into but my issue should be independent of that. This phone is by far (in my humble opinion) one of the best and most stable piece of hardware that HTC has produced to date and I couldn't be happier with the phone, hence why I have not upgraded to a newer device. I know the older OS is a turn off to many and I agree that I wish I was running a higher version but most of them don't honor the latest drivers available which means you lose 4G functionality among other things. So I have stuck with it for now until such time as an updated drivers are released (doubtful but one can hope). I have an 8 GB SD card (7.39 GB usable) and 4.05 GB free - since I move anything that has the option to run off the SD card to external storage. I have 500 MB internal storage (427 MB usable) and a little over 60 MB free. I have never had issues updating anything since the space present has always been enough to install or update before moving stuff to free more space. ## The problem Recently when updating apps it often gives me the insufficient storage available message – but it makes no sense to me. Storage facts: * external SD with 8 GB (4 GB free) * internal storage with 500 MB (60 MB free) * example problematic app: apk size ~6 MB / installed size 11.46 MB ### Detailed problem (again: TL;DR) Specifically the app that is giving the problem recently is Lookout Security & Antivirus which has never been an issue and is only 6 MB and change but it will download it and when attempting to install pops that error. I don't get how a 6 MB file that has never had issue updating on less than 40 MB space is now giving me problems with over 60 MB free? The baffling part is that occasionally it WILL actually update just fine without issue and I have checked my cache and stuff, nothing there, no other apps running that would hog space or anything, so what's wrong? How can I mitigate this? Another bizarre thing that started to happen is that internal apps like Facebook which are bloated on there whether I like it or not and I use rarely are giving me problems too by issuing the invalid page file error. I mean what? **So what's going on here? What is wrong or what can I do to make it right** so it stops being stupid like this? As I said, NEVER had a single issue with this phone, EVER, but in the past month it has driven me absolutely NUTS. I have even uninstalled applications that don't provide the move to SD option to free up nominal space and it stabilizes for like 2 days and then bam, back to square one even though it has more space now. I am at my wits end and I would appreciate the help; especially not being a novice this is even more mind boggling to me. **UPDATE: 10/26/13 @7:45 AM** The application updated normally without giving the error and it did so while the internal storage had only 43 MB (as opposed to the 60 MB when it failed numerously). This lends itself to even more confusion as to what is going on. The ONLY thing that was done in the meantime was that I rebooted the phone (actually more like I was low on power, shut it down and when I connected it to the charger, turned it on)

I have a German retail Motorola Moto G (2013) running Android 4.4.4 stock, no root. I have the Google Play Store not auto updating my apps despite it being set to do so (over Wifi only). I tried everything I could think of: I re-flashed the stock image, I deleted the Play Store cache and data, I removed my Google account from the phone, I deleted the Google Play Services data and cache and updated it. Nothing. If I boot my phone with the Wifi on sometimes it auto updates apps. If I boot it with the Wifi turned off and I turn it on after say 3 minutes it doesn't ever auto update. It's like some process which exists at the beginning then crashes. Please help.

Apps opening automatically when updated

I find the Google Play Store and Google Play Services to be quite buggy. As such, I frequently need to delete the data and cache for each of them. The trick is figuring out a way to do this without allowing Google to update all the apps on the Android device (sometimes new app versions are buggy, remove important features, introduce unwanted bloat, or are not truly compatible with the device). In the past, this wasn't too difficult. One could follow these steps: 1. Enable *Airplane Mode* on the device 2. Clear the data and cache for the Google Play Store and Google Play Services 3. Open the Google Play Store 4. Go into Google Play Store's settings, and instruct it to not auto-update apps 5. Disable *Airplane Mode* Now, *in their infinite wisdom,* Google appears to have made this impossible. If you try to open the Google Play Store in *Airplane Mode*, Google will not allow you to access the Play Store at all. Google even prohibits the user from changing any of the Google Play Store's local settings. I've even tried accessing the Google Play account from a non-Android device, but Google does not seem to make the auto-update setting available outside of the local Android device. And since Google blocks access to their own app if you don't have an active internet connection, **Google has created yet another impossible and frustrating situation for their customers**. The closest thing I've found to a workaround is to disable *Airplane Mode* and try to access the Google Play Store's settings before updates begin. Unfortunately, that isn't usually possible. This leaves the user with trying to figure out more extreme workarounds, such as trying to trick the Google Play Store app into thinking it has an internet connection without actually giving it one. I would really prefer not having to spend my time trying to figure out hypothetical workarounds like this just to deal with Google's problems. How can one clear the Google Play Store and Google Play Services data and cache without allowing Google to update all apps on the Android device?

I've got a Moto G7 running Android 10, I've had it for 2+ years. I used to get notifications from the Play store that App A has updated. I haven't received these notifications in at least a year, possibly longer. All my apps seem to be updating on a regular basis, but I have odd issues where things suddenly seem to stop working for a while and I've got no idea why. I suspect that it's because I've received an update with a feature that's now broken, and a week or so later, a fix is pushed, but since I no longer receive app update notices, it's more difficult to sort these things out. Is there a way to (re-)enable app update notifications, either in the Play store or in the phone itself?
