I broke my phone and don't know the password. I always use biometrics. I don't have access to the phone or the number for a code to be sent from Google any longer either. All I know is the email address of the Google account signed in on the phone. I really need to access my photos on that account. I don't have the phone anymore. I have to try on a device that the account was never on. I enter the email and repeatedly fail at guessing the password. I do remember the phone number though.

In these two images, I measure the distance Washington D.C., the US–Kyiv, Ukraine. As clearly seen, Google Maps on the Android phone does not show a correct geodesic. For example, the true geodesic goes north of the British Isles and cuts through northern Scania, Sweden. The Google Maps “geodesic” cuts through France, southern Germany and southern Poland. Obviously this is not a true geodesic on a spherical Earth. However, the distance seems to be correct (~7800 km). This implies the distance calculation is using the correct formulas. Is there an option in the Google Maps Android app that lets me see proper geodesics again? Geodesic on Google Earth

I am trying to make a calendar also automates a to do list. (why we are doing this in google sheets and not an app that does so easily for free is an excellent question that I have no answer to. Like Mongo I am just a pawn in the game of life.) so have been the doing the dumb old cell = correspondent cell on the calendar and a filter to only display the cells that have actual info. so I've been using this code to continually refresh my filter here https://medium.com/google-cloud/automatically-refreshing-basic-filter-on-google-spreadsheet-using-google-apps-script-e9728826bbd8 . This works great on computer - filter instantly updates, all that good stuff. The problem is that is doesn't work on Google sheets mobile. It will change already displayed data just fine but not display anything else added to calendar without manually refreshing to the filter. Any tips on fixing this would be greatly appreciated. Note, I have tried the () filter function, but it doesn't quite suit my needs. To see the the worksheet in question (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1s0K2wWvC9JI4WF1xrtOhVsrsapXR7ELdH-dPooVeq6E/edit?usp=sharing) Please let me know if this isn't the right spot. I've already be bounced around a few communities by other users trying to figure out the right one for this oddball question.

Unfortunately, I lost my phone yesterday, it was Samsung S24 Ultra phone. I had enabled all the safety features on the device for both Google (Find Device) and Samsung's own tracking service. However, the thief has turned the device off and it has not been switched on since, not even without network, wifi, or SIM. I had enabled the "find my device even when offline" settings; however, even this setting would require the device to be at least switched on. I am now trying to recover the Google Maps timeline using another device, but I am encountering this message: **For security, you can no longer access your encrypted data on this device. Try again using a device that you've recently used to sign in to your Google Account.** **Visit g.co/OnDeviceEncryption to learn more.** An important piece of information — I promptly changed my Google account password after the theft (I still know both the old and the new passwords). I even tried changing it back to the old password, thinking that the encryption might be tied to it, but I am still seeing the same error message. How do I get past this screen and regain access to my data? Needless to say, I am extremely upset not just because of losing an expensive device, but also because I am at risk of losing access to over two decades of my maps timeline history. Any help will be appreciated. <img src=" class="img-fluid rounded" style="max-width: 100%; height: auto; margin: 10px 0;" loading="lazy">

I recently decided to enhance my online security by changing all my passwords and activating Two-Factor authentication for most of the services I use. I updated my passwords in Google Password Manager and enabled on-device encryption. After updating my Google Account password, I was automatically logged out of all my devices. However, when I tried to access my passwords in Google Password Manager, I received a message saying that I couldn't access my encrypted data on the device I was using. The message suggested that I should try using a device that I recently used to sign in to my Google account: > for security, you can no longer access your encrypted data on this device. try again using a device that you’ve recently used to sign in to your google account. What I have tried: 1. Checked the Web & App Activities settings on your Google Account and turned it Off and then On again. 2. Checked the cookies settings on your browser. 3. Confirmed that Sync is not paused in Google Chrome. 4. Cleared data in Google Chrome and turned Sync off, signed back in, and turned Sync on again. 5. Checked the Device Activity page on your Google Account and confirmed that Sync is On and not paused on the devices you recently signed out of. 6. Restarted my device and waited for bookmarks and passwords to load. Despite trying these steps,I still cannot access my encrypted data on the device I am using, and I am looking for further help.

Within location services on Android 13 devices, there are several services such as Google Location Accuracy. [![settings page](https://i.sstatic.net/mURlQ.png)](https://i.sstatic.net/mURlQ.png) I have taken a snapshot of secure, global and system settings before and after enabling this setting, but there is no change, which leads me to believe that we can't change it via settings. I have tried the solutions mentioned here https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/40147/enable-location-services-via-adb-or-shell But these just seem to affect the location setting and not Google Location Accuracy. Is there a way from ADB to enable/disable this?

As this post explains, Google has simply forbidden executables in writable app home directories from Android 10, making termux not working any more on Android 10. However, I have multiple machines with much higher android versions and Termux runs in them without any problem. On my only Android 10 phone (motorola moto e7), it does not (playstore says it is incompatible; f-droid version stops with cryptic error message). What is going on? Can I somehow trick termux into the moto e7, maybe an older version?

I'm trying to eliminate all **Google** and **Meta** services from my digital life. (I don't like their policies.) So I thought about buying a new smartphone, removing the pre-installed ROM, and installing Android AOSP without Google **Gapps**. However, the question I would like to ask is whether programmatically, a lot of information from my AOSP smartphone will communicate some information with Google despite not using their services. Is removing Gapps enough, or could something else be done? Is there empirical evidence in the code that confirms this? Considering that for web browsing I would mainly use Mozilla Firefox with DuckDuckGo thus avoiding any Chromium-based browser, and for messaging Telegram downloaded from their Website. (I haven't used WhatsApp for several years.)

Recently I've decided to de-Google my phone, and noticed some issues: 1. GMS is NOT the core of AOSP, BUT is definitely required for most apps that need some account management to work properly like all Google apps and most third-party apps that I can easily live without or replace with other apps. 2. The lack of Google Play Services drastically slows down some of the basic apps like browsers (not all of them, but most like Chrome, Edge & Brave), although I can use browsers or alternatives for things like synced calendars, notes, and office. I currently have no idea how could I make the basics work flawlessly with GMS completely removed. Any recommendations?

I have recently reinstalled Android on B63M due to some problems with the SD Card. I decided to keep all my contacts **only** in Gmail, as a centralized solution to avoid problems in the future. I do **not** want other SIM or phone contacts to show in the contacts list anymore. However, if I try to uncheck both the SIM and phone contacts and I *do* check all possible Google contacts groups and the option for showing only contacts with a phone number1, **no** contact is shown at all. If I also show the phone contacts, then the Google contacts *are* shown (and thus I have some duplicates), but removing the phone contacts removes the Google contacts too. Note that **the contacts are perfectly synched and all under the *My contacts* group**. It's **not** a synchronisation problem. I'm asking why I *must* select the *show phone contacts* in order to see *any* contact at all (from whichever source you like. Even SIM. I *cannot* show only the SIM contacts without the *show phone contacts* enabled.) To make things clearer, here are some screenshots of the situation: Here I have set *only* the phone contacts (*Contatti del telefono* in Italian), without Google contacts: Screenshot of contacts App showing the phone contacts and related options Here I have added the Google contacts in the options *and they are shown* (see red rectangles. Note the number of contacts at the top going from 116 to 156): Screenshot of contacts App showing the phone and the google contacts and related options Now, I'd expect that removing the phone contacts I should see only the Google contacts (in this case those that above have red rectangles and the other not shown), but this is what I get: Screenshot of the contacts App not showing any contact and related options saying to show only (and all) Google contacts On the right, it just says that there are no contacts to show and that I can add new contacts or import/export from other sources. What should I do such that this last set of options *does* show the Google contacts? ------ 1 Having or not this option active doesn't change anything. Even if it is not active no contact is shown.

The phone was handed to the Police. However, there is simply NO way at all to remove this password now. The phone had no password before either. Every possible solution I have tried but nothing removes this annoying password. Maybe only a Factory Reset but thought I would see if anyone here has an answer. I have searched high and low and can find no answer surprisingly to my question.

Pixel phones (both older Qualcomm and newer Google Tensor) are known for very good camera algorithm. What I have heard the camera chipset (hardware) is similar to other phones, but the algorithm is what makes quite significant difference. Which part of the software stack is doing that algorithms? Is it only [Pixel Camera app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera) or is there some other firmware? I'm asking if I reinstall stock Android with [LineageOS](https://lineageos.org/) whether I loose this functionality. Also, I suppose Pixel Camera app is installable on LineageOS. I'm asking specifically about Google Pixel 5 (redfin) and 6 (oriole), but it can be considered as a general question about all Pixel phones. I also suppose this is the only functionality I could use when migrating to LineageOS (I've had good experience with LineageOS support on other phones).

I've been used this mint Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 purchased on eBay for a fraction of its price, more specifically, to listen YouTube videos on an Aiwa NSX-SZ80E system with a Bluetooth adapter added by good self, and everything worked just great. Too good to be true, I'd say. However, Google has unilaterally decided now to render this tablet obsolete overnight by disabling YouTube on it, and suggesting me to "switch to youtube.com" as shown: Image The question would be, **exactly how** can I edit my tablet's Android version number to **simply replace "6.0.1" with "9.0.0"**, effectively bypassing this Google's artificial obsolescence policy in the most elegant and straightforward manner possible? Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. If flashing the complete tablet with new, unstable, untested and unreliable firmware is required, I'll do it gladly, as long as it allows me to **bypass Google's policies of rendering my tablet useless overnight just because they can**.
