Although there's nothing nefarious about my whereabouts, I do not wish the admin of my corporate account to know where my phone spends its evening. Is there a way to disable "Find my device" for just one account?
I see the "Device Finders" -> "[On/Off]" switch. However that seems to control both accounts at once.

**TL;DR:** With two Android phones, how do I get arrival & departure location sharing notifications on my backup device, instead of the primary device?
----------
I have a primary and a backup Android phone. Recently, the primary one developed an issue with the display, rendering it mostly unusable, except with screen projection utilities (e.g. AirDroid and scrcpy). As a result, I switched to using the backup phone.
Over the last couple of days, I noticed that Google Maps was still sending notifications of arrival & departure (notification channel: *Google location sharing (friends)*) to my now unusable primary device. After searching the internet, I found [this answer](https://support.google.com/maps/thread/286527280?hl=en&msgid=286627449) , which essentially requires me to sign out of my Google account on the primary phone. This solution is untenable for me, as I intend to repair and return to using the primary device in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, however, I still want to receive notifications on the backup device. How do I achieve this?
Here are the things I've tried which didn't yield the expected result:
* Fully disabled location sharing on the primary phone
* Disabled all Google Maps notifications on the primary phone
* Cleared data and disabled Google maps on the primary phone
* Disabled & re-enabled location sharing on the backup phone

Within location services on Android 13 devices, there are several services such as Google Location Accuracy.
I have taken a snapshot of secure, global and system settings before and after enabling this setting, but there is no change, which leads me to believe that we can't change it via settings.
I have tried the solutions mentioned here
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/40147/enable-location-services-via-adb-or-shell
But these just seem to affect the location setting and not Google Location Accuracy.
Is there a way from ADB to enable/disable this?

Age may be a factor, given that it is (correctly) registered on the first of April 2021. It was not registered for location services any time before that date.
Any hope for a location?

Is it still possible to select the location mode which doesn't require you to turn on gps? Back then one could select battery saving mode which used WiFi scanning or mobile networks to detect location, albeit not very accurate when compared to using gps.
In Android 13 by using tasker or modifying secure settings database this is still possible, but it still turns on gps which is undesirable. Is there a workaround that strictly relies on WiFi scanning or cell towers?
I thought to use a different location provider Unified Nlp, however the device is not rooted so I can't patch it to system in order to use LocalGSMBackend or similar, so am basically stuck.

Whenever I try to connect my Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 6.0.1 to a Bluetooth enabled device, it tells me to enable "location services".
When I complained about this, the software vendor replied: "Recent updates to the Google Android API affecting Bluetooth LE technology requires location permissions to be granted in order to use the app."
I fail to see the need for this.
This discussion talks about this. The technical reference says the apps need to have certain *permissions*, not that location services be active.

**Question**: Does this mean the software vendor's statement is incorrect?

It sounds like it's related to my personal Google account, but I've never figured out what or how I can re-enable these notifications back.
- I'm living in France.
- I've checked that I'm recognized as an adult (> 18 years old) at https://myaccount.google.com/age-verification
- I'm the Family manager on Google Family.
Any clue?

I am trying to change my "Google Location" Accuracy setting
I go to Settings -> Location -> Advanced (open drop down) -> "Google Location Accuracy"
This opens up a new window on my phone, with nothing but a black screen. I have let it sit for a significant amount of time and nothing ever loads. I have a solid internet connection, no connectivity issues, but nothing loads.

Lego offers an Android app that allows control a Lego train using bluetooth. It does not work on my non-GPS tablet and emits the error message “could not get permission to get device location”. Lego told me that they are not interested in the location information (the app discards that data) but also that this means that their app cannot work on such a device, which is an Android limitation that cannot be circumvented by Lego.
I know that Android ties bluetooth and location permission, however, I am surprised that no solution is possible. After all, this is a ridiculous situation: Bluetooth is there, but unusable because no GPS?
Of course, Bluetooth headsets work on my tablet, but this may be due to a different device profile.
I need to know whether Lego is right and Bluetooth to e.g. a toy is impossible on Android without GPS?

Version 0.2.29 of microG removed support for UnifiedNLP location provider back-ends (due to technical issues with newer Android versions), and instead built the functionality of some of these backends into microG. That includes the ability to scan for cell towers and WiFis in range and build a local database with them (formerly provided by the Déjà-Vu location providers) and the ability to query Mozilla Location Service (at least until that service was discontinued, but services with a compatible API would still work).
Now I am wondering if there is a way to import an existing database into microG to be queried locally (there used to be modules for mobile and wifi networks that could do this). Format is not that important – I can convert that as needed, if needed.
Unfortunately, since MicroG is a system app, I am somewhat reluctant to upgrading it just to find out, as I have never tried going back to an earlier version if something fails. The phone is my daily driver (i.e. production), not something I would want to carry out tests on.
So – does microG provide a way to import cell/wifi databases?

I have /e/ OS 1.18 installed on my phone.
Ever since I've started using /e/ OS, occasionally my phone would pick a semi-random* fixed location and then alternatingly pass on either my real location or the randomly picked one to apps using the location service.
*By semi-random I mean that it is usually relatively close to me (generally no further than 100km) and usually in a plausible place (a public road, square, railway station...) but otherwise wholly inexplicable.
In the past I had some luck with clearing cache & storage of the System App called Nominatim Geolocator (or similar) – this would fix the problem for a few weeks – but in my current version of /e/ OS I cannot find this app anymore.
In the Advanced Privacy settings, I chose to expose my location and IP address, but this did not help. Neither did clearing cache & storage of Advanced Privacy, nor disabling Advanced Privacy as the mock location app via the developer options.
What can I do to permanently get rid of this problem?

App doesn't access GPS location directly
There's a strange situation with Citymapper, where it doesn't access GPS location directly, but it does if a different app is accessing location at the same time. There's a strange situation with Citymapper, where it doesn't access GPS location directly, but it does if a different app is accessing location at the same time. This hasn't always been the case, but I'm not sure exactly when it started (so, can't say if it's because of a certain update etc.).
**Problem details**:
- I'm using Citymapper 6.23 on LineageOS 14.1.
- The Location permission is for Citymapper is turned on
- "Location mode" is set to "Device only" (i.e., GPS only), although I've tried turning "High accuracy" on to test, and it doesn't fix the problem.
- I have Privacy Guard enabled on Citymapper, but access to location is allowed, and as before, disabling Privacy Guard for Citymapper doesn't fix the problem.
Citymapper "thinks" it's accessing location, but it's not: I say this because when I disable the location marker for the device (screenshot below), Citymapper complains that "Your location is disabled".
!location marker for the device
When location is on, Citymapper doesn't complain (so, it thinks it's working), but I know it's not accessing the location for three reasons:
1. the location Citymapper shows is incorrect (it shows the last "known" location -- see below for details)
2. the location marker doesn't appear at the top of the screen as it would when an app is using geolocation
3. in the system settings > Location, "Recent location requests" are shown, but Citymapper is not on that list.
Further to this, Privacy Guard reports that "Fine location" is being accessed by Citymapper every time I use the app, but it says that GPS was last accessed on 26 December 2017 (Privacy Guard controls separately access to "GPS", "Coarse location" and "Fine location").
**Indirect access**:
The weirdest part is that when I open a different application that uses geolocation (in this case, MapFactor Navigator) and the location marker does show up at the top of the screen, the correct location does show up in Citymapper as well (this is my current workaround, and this is how Citymapper gets the last known location I mentioned above).
What could be causing this, and how could I go about fixing it? As I've mentioned, it used to work but started having this problem a while back (perhaps around the 26th of December, since that was the last GPS access). I haven't seen this with other apps, but then again, I don't have a lot of apps with location access.
**System details**:
- Device: Samsung Galaxy S5 Duos (SM-G900FD)
- OS: LineageOS 14.1
- Android version: 7.1.2
- The phone is rooted with SuperSU.
Note: There's no "Citymapper" tag (and I'm a newbie), so I used the generic "applications" tag. Maybe a senior user can fix this.

I have struggled to find clear information about exactly what settings affect whether various emergency alerts are received or not. Even getting a definitive list of alerts is not as simple as it should be. From what I understand, there are two main types of alert - cell broadcasts and Google crisis alerts (which include earthquake alerts). Cell broadcasts do not require wifi or mobile data, but Google crisis alerts do require either wifi or mobile data.
Questions I have are:
1. Does Battery Saver delay or prevent the receipt of either type of alert?
2. Does Do Not Disturb prevent the receipt of either type of alert?
3. Does either type of alert requires location access (GPS) to be enabled at all times (or is wifi sufficient for determining location)?
4. What apps, services etc. are involved in receiving the alerts, what minimum permissions do they need and what settings need to be enabled?
I think that for these alerts to be as useful as they can be in saving lives, this information should be absolutely clear and available in one place. In fact, all necessary settings etc. should be configurable from within one app on Android with an option to reset required settings to ensure receipt of all types of emergency alert.
In the meantime, I'd appreciate answers to the above questions.

The network location very often points to Google headquarters in San Francisco. The problem occurs when the app switches to running in the background, when it uses an inaccurate location. How to fix it? I am using production emulator (without root).

I'm looking at post processing raw GNSS data from various devices to improve the accuracy of the collected points.
We have field staff out collecting points with Zebra TC56 running Android 8.1, Zebra TC57 running Android 10 and a Samsung X Cover Pro running Android 13. Their points have an accuracy of roughly 2-3m which isn't good enough for what we want. So I want to take the raw GNSS data and use RINEX data from the CORSnet to increase the accuracy.
Do these devices capture raw GNSS data and store it whenever you use the in-built GNSS receiver, or do you need to tell it to capture the raw data? Do you need to run a third party app to capture the raw GNSS data?
Google has the GNSSLogger app but I'm not sure if that runs whilst using another app or do you need the app open.
How do I isolate the raw GNSS receiver data to the points in need? It looks like the GNSSLogger app just perpetually runs until you tell it to stop.
I understand this is multiple questions in one but I look at it as sub questions for one big question. I can ask them separately if needed.

*Not sure if this is the right place to ask this kind of question, so please let me know if this thread should be moved to another SE board.*
### The problem
For about two years now, I keep getting very weird behavior when having my apps query my GPS coordinates: **apps keep locating my phone at a place I haven't lived or been in years**.
This belongs all sorts of apps that rely on GPS, starting at Organic Maps, Home Assistant, even Google Maps tends to locate me at that certain location.
**The problem only occurs when my phone doesn't find a satellite to acquire accurate GPS coordinates.**
### Some background information
- I moved from town X to town Y about 3 years ago
- I signed a fresh contract with my internet provider using only my new address (in town Y)
- When moving, I had a Galaxy S9 with "stock" Samsung Android installed on it, connected to my Google account which had my old physical address saved. Back then, GPS tracking worked like a charm
- at some point after moving, I decided to install /e/OS (for privacy reasons obviously; fork of LineageOS) and get rid of everything connected to Google
- I even deleted my Google account and changed my real name and address inside my Google account before deleting it
- after installing /e/OS, I used microG to have a *random* Google account (necessary for Google Play Services) for usability reasons
- eventually, I decided to buy a new mobile (Galaxy S10e) purging everything and installing /e/OS as well before connecting it to any possible internet account
- I bought a new pre-paid cell phone card which is registered with my new address (town Y)
So basically, I changed my place of residence, changed mobile phone cards, changed mobile phone, changed internet contract, changed my mobile operating system and purged my Google account (and didn't even once connect it to my current mobile phone), thus my phone should be **unable** to have **any** information about my old flat's address, or is there something I left out here?
When moving outside or driving (or being navigated through Organic Maps, for example), apps sometimes locate me at that same location in the beginning, but when getting a good GPS signal, it changes to my real location.
It seems like that certain old address from town X is somehow stored in my phone or location history or somewhere else, I just can't figure out where it could possibly be stored. I have no accounts linked with my phone which know any of my addresses, **how is this possible**?
I am incredibly grateful for any thought on this, it's driving me crazy.
Thanks in advance.

How precisely can an app infer your location from info that is visible with location permission off?
For example, by looking at whether your SIM is roaming, what network it is connected to, what network issued the SIM in any second slot, or any other info that would give away your location.
