Is the "Find my device" app & network somehow dependent on "Find Device" in my bluetooth settings? If not, why else might it not have worked?
Earlier today, the Find My Device app said that it could not show the location of my earphones ([Sony WI-C100](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-ear-headphones/wi-c100/specifications)), because it had not seen them in the last 7 days. Earlier today, the Find My Device app said that it could not show the location of my earphones ([Sony WI-C100](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-ear-headphones/wi-c100/specifications)) , because it had not seen them in the last 7 days. But I *have* been connected to my headphones several times in the last 7 days. This might or might not include the walk where I dropped them and had to come back to find them later, with absolutely no thanks to my phone :-). So I'm a bit puzzled.
1. When I have enabled Settings > Security > Find My Device > "Find your offline devices", is my phone supposed to automatically save the last location it was connected to my Fast Pair accessories, for use in the Find My Device app?
2. Does this still work when the separate setting "Location History" / "Timeline" is disabled?
3. In what situations does this feature stop working? I understand it will not work if location is not working or disabled on my phone :-) ("Use Location" setting).
It's supposed to be possible to understand this collection and processing of location data, because Google "work hard to [protect your information and put you in control](https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en) ".
Settings > Bluetooth > WI-C100 > Find device says it will not show "Last known location" on that page, because I have chosen not to enable Google's "Location History" service. Technically, searching settings does not find "Location History", so I assume this actually means the setting Location > Location services > Timeline.
By contrast, I can see WI-C100 in the Find My Device app. (It took just over ten minutes to appear after I first connected the earphones & agreed to Fast Pairing). Tapping WI-C100 shows a map with the last connected time and location. I have checked that this is not just showing my current phone location. The following is enabled on my phone: Settings > Security > Find My Device > Find your offline devices, "with network in high-traffic areas only". The description says "To help locate this device and your Fast Pair accessories when offline...", and "Locate using stored recent locations OR the [network](https://support.google.com/android/answer/14796936?visit_id=638759070241024882-2601693823&p=fmd_network&rd=1#finding_offline_devices) in areas like airports or busy footpaths."
I usually enable "extreme battery saver" on my Pixel phone. "Find My Device" is not in my list of "essential apps", therefore this app is usually paused. Similarly, this app does not have "Unrestricted" battery usage enabled on my phone. This means that if either Extreme or Standard Battery Saver is enabled, the app would never run in the background.
Is Battery Saver expected to pause this feature? Or is the location data saved by an app like Google Play Services, which is always allowed to run in the background?
I have also disabled the app which is named "Google" on my phone, because I don't want Google search / news / weather / assistant in an app format, or as a non-removable search box on my home screen.
* Accessory: [Sony WI-C100](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-ear-headphones/wi-c100/specifications) earphones (Fast Pair support)
* Phone: Pixel 8a / Android 15 / 5 February 2025
* Google Play: 1 January 2025
I did upgrade the Sony firmware to 1.0.7 (29-08-2024) after the "not seen in 7 days" result, and before the more successful results above.

Enabling Extreme Battery Saver on Pixel causes the Contacts app to pause (by default).
If I enable Extreme Battery Saver on Pixel, and let it pause the Contacts app, does it pause automatic sync of Contacts?
Could this help save battery usage?
I am considering changing Extreme Battery Saver settings to allow the Contacts app. Could this increase battery usage?
It does not have an immediate visible effect on the toggle at Settings > Passwords > my-account@gmail.com (Google) > Account sync > Contacts.
I can also manually pause the Contacts app "for the rest of the day". Or I can disable it. I assume these have the same effect.
My usual habit is to use the Contacts app, because it allows me to view a subset of contacts who e.g. have phone numbers. AFAICS, the Google Phone app has decided to show all contacts across all Google Accounts, including those without phone numbers, and cannot be reconfigured.

I travel a lot on multi-day excursions where I don't have access to power, so I charge my phone with a battery bank. It seems silly that Android automatically disables "Battery Saver" mode when my phone is charging. Just because my phone is charging doesn't mean I'm not interested in saving power.
How can I force "Battery Saver" mode to remain enabled, even when charging my Android device?
Ideally I'd like to do this without installing any closed-source software.

I have a persistent issue with my Pixel 7a Android 14 phone, that messages sent through WhatsApp don't always get received on my phone until a while (30+ minutes). Sometimes they don't get received at all until I grab my phone, in which case they all get received at once, and in some cases they aren't received until I actually open the WhatsApp app and there I will see them all rattling in.
I suspected Doze Mode to be the culprit, but the issue persists even after disabling battery optimizations for the app. I have also tried using other applications such as Skype, Instagram, which experience the same problem. I have also completely deactivated Do not Disturb and it does not solve the issue either. Reinstalling WhatsApp has also not solved the issue.
The issue is not with the sending phone - they communicate just fine with other people on WhatsApp during these problems.
What is happening? How do I make my messages received and notify me when they should?

I have struggled to find clear information about exactly what settings affect whether various emergency alerts are received or not. Even getting a definitive list of alerts is not as simple as it should be. From what I understand, there are two main types of alert - cell broadcasts and Google crisis alerts (which include earthquake alerts). Cell broadcasts do not require wifi or mobile data, but Google crisis alerts do require either wifi or mobile data.
Questions I have are:
1. Does Battery Saver delay or prevent the receipt of either type of alert?
2. Does Do Not Disturb prevent the receipt of either type of alert?
3. Does either type of alert requires location access (GPS) to be enabled at all times (or is wifi sufficient for determining location)?
4. What apps, services etc. are involved in receiving the alerts, what minimum permissions do they need and what settings need to be enabled?
I think that for these alerts to be as useful as they can be in saving lives, this information should be absolutely clear and available in one place. In fact, all necessary settings etc. should be configurable from within one app on Android with an option to reset required settings to ensure receipt of all types of emergency alert.
In the meantime, I'd appreciate answers to the above questions.

Phone is not rooted, but I'm willing to root it if need be. I already use adaptive charging during the night. I was hoping for something not linked to the alarm.

I have a Samsung Galaxy A51 phone, 2 or 3 years old. Since some time, out of nothing (like just after using the phone for some time, when getting out of screen lock), I see notifications (like WhatsApp, mail, etc.) icons on the main page.
However, before I have the chance to look at them/click them, the phone gets into energy (battery) savings mode spontaneously and all notifications are gone (when disabling energy savings mode manually). So, I have to find in all applications what 'news' there is.
Is there a solution to get rid of this spontaneous saving mode activations? (without disabling it when I want to do it manually to save battery power) ?

I have a Samsung Galaxy A01 Core (SM-A013M) with Android 10 GO. When I tap on "disable battery optimization" for certain apps, it doesn't really do anything, and there's no button to disable the whole thing.
When I first had the prompt to enable it, I tapped "deny" and it just didn't care. Optimization is turned on for EVERY SINGLE APP except for ones that aren't compatible with it.
This is quite annoying because I want widgets and I get notifications of certain messaging apps like 40 mins later if it even wants to get notifications.
Maybe it's that Android GO that doesn't let me modify that stuff, but on the manual, it says that I can just disable it.
I also wonder if there's any way of making an app "unable to be optimized" or exempted by modifying something on the system (having the app as active on developer settings does nothing really)
I'll link a vid of what I'm trying to do.

I'm using General Mobile 21 Plus on Android 12. Sometimes I notice that some apps are not sending me notifications or the notifications are delayed.
So, I go to Settings -> Battery -> Battery Manager and I find Android had restricted the battery usage of some apps, so I go and uncheck the restriction on those apps and now the apps should use battery without restriction. The notifications are now coming as expected.
After a while, I find that Android had again re-restricted some apps without even asking me.
How can I prevent that annoying behavior and prevent Android from making these choices without my permission?

Have more standard apps in "Limit apps and home screen"
I like Samsung's power saving option "Limit apps and home screen", but 4 apps is just not enough. As a result, some apps shut off when you close which I would like to keep running. Can you add more than 4 apps to the set of apps that are allowed to run in the background somehow?

However, when I turn my phone off and plug it into the charger, it shows the "Unlocked Bootloader" warning before showing the charging status, meaning it turns itself on again somewhat.
Is the wear of that negligible, or would it make more sense to simply leave the phone on in battery saving/flight mode when charging overnight?

When I tap on a paused app's icon, for example, YouTube Music, it will show the prompt:
> **App paused by Extreme Battery Saver**
>
> Keeping [app's name] paused extends your device's battery life.

I tried to change the option to Unrestricted in Settings > Apps > All Apps > YouTube Music > Battery > Optimized, but it doesn't give the desired effect.
What is the right thing to do to allow custom apps to always work in Settings?

Note that: ANT+ uses the same range of frequencies than WIFI and Bluetooth 4

How do I keep my WiFi running when my phone's screen is off and locked?
Facts:
1. The biggest battery drain is my screen usage
1. WiFi uses your battery, but not nearly as badly as the screen
1. I use my phone to stream audio
1. I intentionally turn off my phone's screen to save my phone's battery
1. If I'm playing a local file that I previously downloaded, then I have no issues with the audio stopping when my screen is off.
1. If I'm streaming audio, then sometime after I turn off my phone's screen, the audio streaming stops (I guess after it locks and the the stream buffer is empty)
1. Immediately after I wake my screen, the audio stream resumes. Unlocking the phone is not necessary to resume the audio stream.
I assume, therefore, that my phone is disabling my WiFi sometime after my handset's screen is turned off.
I am running LineageOS 18 (Android 11).
How do I prevent my android device from disabling my WiFi when the screen is off?

I have device which is used commonly by a layman kin. She does not really understand, why spares the battery if we do not wait until it goes to zero. She thinks, the device needs charge only if it was powered off due to battery exhaustion. I have no way to change her mind, but I can install or set up on her (non-rooted) Android as I want to (including adb access, if needed).
I think, maybe some app could power off her phone if battery level goes under, for example, 35% or so. Alternatively, maybe the battery load calibration could be changed to consider the actual battery level lower as it really is.
