I see the "Device Finders" -> "[On/Off]" switch. However that seems to control both accounts at once.

, no location given for it, unfortunately. "Play Sound" comes through loud and clear.
Age may be a factor, given that it is (correctly) registered on the first of April 2021. It was not registered for location services any time before that date.
Any hope for a location?

I can pair the tag, I can see it in the companion [Moto Tag](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.motorola.tag&hl=en) app. Here, I can let the Moto Tag ring.
Yet if I follow the button to find my device on the map, I see Google's Find My Device, yet my Moto Tag is not listed.
If lookup my Moto Tag via the bluetooth settings, and Find Devive, I get a view stating that my Moto Tag is not connected.
What am I missing? How to add Moto Tag to Find my Device, so that I can view it on the map?
---
I think I located the issue by the Moto Tag not realyzing that the Find My Device has been enabled. It asks to enable the Find My Device, yet it never continues.
All I can do is cancel or swipe the menu away:
Prompt
Enabling the Option
Yet not found in Find My Device, asking again to enable:

I am using a One Plus 9 Pro having Android 14 (October 2024).
I could update the Moto Tag to firmware 2.0.35 (it had 2.0.19), yet issue persists.
I tried resetting the Moto Tag via one-tap, quickly followed by an at least 5 second tap while holding until it beeps. Yet on reconnect, the issue remains.

Is the "Find my device" app & network somehow dependent on "Find Device" in my bluetooth settings? If not, why else might it not have worked?
Earlier today, the Find My Device app said that it could not show the location of my earphones ([Sony WI-C100](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-ear-headphones/wi-c100/specifications)), because it had not seen them in the last 7 days. Earlier today, the Find My Device app said that it could not show the location of my earphones ([Sony WI-C100](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-ear-headphones/wi-c100/specifications)) , because it had not seen them in the last 7 days. But I *have* been connected to my headphones several times in the last 7 days. This might or might not include the walk where I dropped them and had to come back to find them later, with absolutely no thanks to my phone :-). So I'm a bit puzzled.
1. When I have enabled Settings > Security > Find My Device > "Find your offline devices", is my phone supposed to automatically save the last location it was connected to my Fast Pair accessories, for use in the Find My Device app?
2. Does this still work when the separate setting "Location History" / "Timeline" is disabled?
3. In what situations does this feature stop working? I understand it will not work if location is not working or disabled on my phone :-) ("Use Location" setting).
It's supposed to be possible to understand this collection and processing of location data, because Google "work hard to [protect your information and put you in control](https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en) ".
Settings > Bluetooth > WI-C100 > Find device says it will not show "Last known location" on that page, because I have chosen not to enable Google's "Location History" service. Technically, searching settings does not find "Location History", so I assume this actually means the setting Location > Location services > Timeline.
By contrast, I can see WI-C100 in the Find My Device app. (It took just over ten minutes to appear after I first connected the earphones & agreed to Fast Pairing). Tapping WI-C100 shows a map with the last connected time and location. I have checked that this is not just showing my current phone location. The following is enabled on my phone: Settings > Security > Find My Device > Find your offline devices, "with network in high-traffic areas only". The description says "To help locate this device and your Fast Pair accessories when offline...", and "Locate using stored recent locations OR the [network](https://support.google.com/android/answer/14796936?visit_id=638759070241024882-2601693823&p=fmd_network&rd=1#finding_offline_devices) in areas like airports or busy footpaths."
I usually enable "extreme battery saver" on my Pixel phone. "Find My Device" is not in my list of "essential apps", therefore this app is usually paused. Similarly, this app does not have "Unrestricted" battery usage enabled on my phone. This means that if either Extreme or Standard Battery Saver is enabled, the app would never run in the background.
Is Battery Saver expected to pause this feature? Or is the location data saved by an app like Google Play Services, which is always allowed to run in the background?
I have also disabled the app which is named "Google" on my phone, because I don't want Google search / news / weather / assistant in an app format, or as a non-removable search box on my home screen.
* Accessory: [Sony WI-C100](https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/in-ear-headphones/wi-c100/specifications) earphones (Fast Pair support)
* Phone: Pixel 8a / Android 15 / 5 February 2025
* Google Play: 1 January 2025
I did upgrade the Sony firmware to 1.0.7 (29-08-2024) after the "not seen in 7 days" result, and before the more successful results above.

Urgent: Account Security Issue
My employees informed me that the main animator's phone (Infinix) was used to reset all devices connected to our shared account via 'Find my device'. This includes:

- Authenticator (now reset)

I share this account with employees for YouTube access. How can I disable 'Find my device' to prevent further unwanted resets?

I would like to know if there is a way to have two Google accounts added to my phone (one personal and one work account), while only allowing one account the ability to Find My Device and perform a remote wipe.
Has anything regarding this changed since 2016?

I've done a bit of experimentation which is related to [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/q/257132/40347) .
2FA has been active on accounts, however, Find My Device seems to no longer require the second factor - only password is required. This seems to be the case when using an authenticator app, as well as the case of using a phone as a passkey. I also tested using a VPN to make my desktop IP one in another country.
Can anyone confirm this or have an canonical links to this change by Google?
I guess this makes sense in the case of a lost device where you need to log into a fresh device in order to locate it, and your device was the second factor.
However, on the negative side any threat actor with your password only can locate your device and lock or reset it, albeit with a notification sent to you first.

My Samsung Android phone was stolen 10 days ago while on vacation in Rome. I used Google's 'Find My Device' from my Android tablet a couple of hours after the theft; it said the phone was in California, which was its location two days prior to the theft. However, I had spent the whole day in Rome using Google Maps on the phone, so obviously there was plenty of network traffic (I had an international cellular voice and data plan on the phone).
The next day, 'Find My Device' said the phone was located at the Vatican which is where we were on the morning of the theft. Then later that day, 'Find My Device' told me the phone was located at the Rome Termini train station, which is where the theft actually occurred.
So my question is, is it normal for Google's 'Find My Device' to be so out of date (delayed) in terms of location when the phone was obviously very active in terms of GPS and network?

So, I recently recalled how my account was compromised years ago, and the hacker proceeded to delete two of my old devices. It was frustrating because not only was my account gone, but so was all of my data on my phone. I'm sure it has something to do with Google's ADM service. I looked through the options and discovered the toggle to keep the device from being deleted.
Now that I've remembered the incident, I'm becoming quite paranoid since I don't want to lose all of my data again without notice. So I went back up to the toggle and looked for it again, but there was nothing there. I looked on Google for a solution and the only one I found was to either delete my Google account or disable ADM for all of my accounts, which would be awful if I forgot where I put my phone.
I've already gone through my settings and discovered that disabling ADM's admin privilege prevents it from erasing my phone, though I'm not sure if it works or not because I obviously don't want to test it out.
Is there a way to merely disable the wiping and keep the rest? Is disabling ADM's admin privileges sufficient?
To avoid being hacked, I know I can safeguard my accounts using 2FA and strong passwords (which I have already done). However, mistakes do happen, and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I recently locked my Nexus 7 (2013) having Android 5.0.2 with a password, which I forgot. I, then, thought to use Device Manager, since I've authorized it from Google Settings to make changes, such as locating and changing password.
Previously, my PIN used to get reset from ADM, but, this this time I am using a Password. Is that the reason?
This is what it says, "We successfully sent a lock request to your device."
And after that when I rejoice and feel a bit relieved, "Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password that you entered won't be needed."
I am trying to override my previous password over this new password ...
[!
]
Is there any other way of resetting the password except ADM, on Android 5.0.2, like that Google Account's credentials it used to ask on Froyo.
P.S. I've set all permissions for ADM at Google Settings on my Nexus.

I have an Android 12 device and there are some other devices with friends and family that are running Android 12 or less.
I searched and there is a "Require password to turn off" in newer phones.
Is there a way I can implement the same feature on the devices that I have?
I am willing to root or use third-party apps for this.

2-Step enabled, and I keeped backup codes.
This is what I did:
- Before I flashed my phone, I logout my google account.
- Then after I flashed my phone, I logged in google accout from my phone by using backup codes.
- In [Google - Your devices page](https://myaccount.google.com/device-activity) I signed out old devices.
But when I checked the [Google prompts page](https://myaccount.google.com/two-step-verification/prompt) , it still showed my old phone(the name is the old one).
And when I tried to log in somewhere, the "Google prompt" didn't pop up. I have to use backup codes or Authenticator.
**Is there a way that I can fix this? or just disable "Google prompt"?** I'm OK with using Authenticator and backup codes when phone is not available.

How can that be? I'm across town from my cell phone at the moment and I'm on a friend's tablet for the first time ever! Does this mean these two devices are linked in some weird way? Spy app or? I can even go to Google Play and click on My Apps and it shows the apps that are actually installed on my cell phone!

Result-
After i used find-my-device - secure device, there's a screen lock on my father's phone which is long like abc1234. The phone is unlocking with it. But when I try to remove it from settings app, it is asking for a 4 digit numeric passcode. I have tried everything and the password can't be removed. Since my father uses his phone very often due to his work, he doesn't like any kind of password since its bothersome, time-consuming, frustrating and he doesn't have the best eyesight so he messes up with keyboard when without glasses. What I want to do-
Since the phone can be unlocked and data can be accessed, I have backed up the data in my laptop and planning to reset it. Now, the OEM is locked and asks the 4 digit password to unlock and reset also wants that. So, My only options remains find my device - erase device. What i want to know-
Since its not my but my father's phone, I want to be and have to be extra cautious.
1 - Is there any kind of risk or anything i should keep in mind before resetting the device from find-my-device - erase device.
2 - Will my father be able to use that phone normally after the reset like he used to earlier??
3 - Will the screen lock be removed?? (most important)

I am using multiple google accounts, both private and company accounts.
I want to see all calendars in my Calendar app. Events in all calendars. Same with Gmail. I want to be logged in and be able to switch between all gmail accounts.
But I don't want my company account (To which I am not the only person to have access I think) to be able to store and backup my contacts, my chrome settings, and privately visited websites, and all private activity.
Right now logging to any of those accounts and going to android device manager, I can locate or wipe my phone. I want to allow it only on my main account.
How can I control that?

I lost my Android phone on vacation that was in airplane mode (Moto G5, v7 updated). It was protected by fingerprint and swipe. I almost always use the fingerprint to unlock, but do *very* occasionally use the swipe.
I locked it online remotely and remotely logged out of it when I realized it was lost several hours later. The timeout interval should be only 1 or 2 minutes.
I was hoping to recover it in some fashion, so I didn't remotely wipe it, secure in the knowledge that it couldn't be unlocked.
So I was surprised to be contacted two days (!) after I lost it on my other devices and accounts via an instant messaging app on the phone by someone who claimed to have found the phone and was looking for the owner.
In shock I didn't reply and quickly used Device Manager to remotely wipe the phone immediately. I also changed all my Google passwords for the accounts on the phone. I checked the Gmail logins and noticed none outside of my possession. I also checked Google Maps timeline and didn't see anything outside of my possession. Oddly, though, in Device Manager I clearly did see the phone located in the city I lost it, but a distance away from where I was.
A few questions:
- How could a locked phone with a recent Android OS be unlocked, taken out of airplane mode, and home screen accessed?
- How could the remote lock not work, assuming somehow someone opened up the phone within the lockout interval?
- I saw the phone in the city I lost it on Device Manager (where I executed the remote wipe). How could it be there, but nowhere visible in my Google Maps timeline or Gmail login history?
- Is there something I might be forgetting to do security wise?
Thank you.
