How can you set Chrome to sync passwords to Google Account - but not any other data? Chrome is designed to send full browser history to Google, for ad-tracking purposes. What's the full list of things to make sure are turned off, after signing in to Chrome with my Google Account? --- I'm setting up a new device (Pixel 9 with Android 16). It comes with Google Password Manager. Sadly, Chrome uses its own autofill code. When Chrome offers to save something in Google Password Manager, it does _not_ look the same as in any other app. => If I _don't_ sign in to Chrome, I will have two separate password managers: 1. System-level autofill with Google Password Manager - which can only save passwords in your Google Account. 2. If you don't sign in to Chrome using your Google account, then Chrome can only save passwords "on this device". I use Firefox as my web browser. But I'm used to keeping the original browser as a backup (or keeping Chrome on Linux). I need to be able to check whether a website has decided to hate Firefox, or whether it's broken for everyone. It might sound picky, but I don't want my backup browser to use a separate "on my device" section in Google Password Manager. It's too much confusion. I want to have a good setup, that I can recommend to other people.

The phone was handed to the Police. However, there is simply NO way at all to remove this password now. The phone had no password before either. Every possible solution I have tried but nothing removes this annoying password. Maybe only a Factory Reset but thought I would see if anyone here has an answer. I have searched high and low and can find no answer surprisingly to my question.

I'm hoping someone can help with this issue. Essentially, we are locked out of the tablet and unable to factory reset or reboot it into recovery mode The tablet in question is a Samsung Galaxy A8 tablet that belonged to a deceased relative. The tablet has started asking for a password, but we've never set one. I assume it's the password for the google account on the tablet but we don't know what the password is, and the owner of the tablet doesn't even know which email address is associated with the tablet so we can't reset the google password. We are unable to restart the tablet to factory reset -- when we try to restart it it just asks for the password again and won't even reboot. Pressing and holding the power button to force it to shut down is also not working. The tablet is also in safe mode, not sure why this is but we can't make it exit safe mode. I believe all the volume buttons are working as they should. I thought about using ADB but I don't believe USB debugging is enabled, as the owners are not great with technology and probably won't have looked at the developer options. The only potential solution I can think of is letting the battery run all the way down and then trying to boot it straight into recovery mode, but that will take a very long time. I'd try to remove the battery but the tablet isn't in my possession (I'm helping relatives remotely) and I don't trust the owners not to mess that up! So, is there a way to make the tablet able to restart normally so we can enter recovery mode, or alternatively to turn USB debugging on remotely so I can use ADB? TIA (and sorry for the very wordy question!!)

I have an Android device as following: - Manufacturer: Autel - Model: MaxiCheck MX808 Automotive scanner tablet - Firmware Version: 1.0 I forgot the screen lock password. I communicated with Autel Tech Support on http://www.autel.com/ and they sent me a flash file and steps on how to flash, but I did not succeed. While I started ADB.exe, I got "Error unauthorized device". So please assist in resolving the issue. Ok steps I got from the support as follows MK Format Device Compulsively #### Set up Computer Circumstances 1. Install RK driver - Open the folder RK_DriverAssitant, run Driverintall.exe, following the on-screen prompts to install the driver. 2. Install Google-USB driver Some computers may need to install this driver. Open the folder Google-USB_driver; If your computer OS is 32-bit, run DPInst32.exe and if your computer OS is 64-bit, run DPInst64.exe. If you have already installed this driver before, please go directly to next step. #### Reflash the Device Attention:This procedure will format your device and will delete the data on your device. 3. Run Reflashing ToolOpen the folder AndroidTool_Release_v2.1, run AndroidTool.exe, the reflashing window will be displayed as shown in the figure below. 4. Turn Your Device into Reflashing Mode Connect your device to computer with USB cable and wait until the computer recognizes the device. You can check the connection status via Device Manager on your computer. As it is shown in the red mark on the figure below, the device was already recognized by the computer. 5. Ready to reflash: Double click on the script named reboot to loader.bat With best regards

I can't enter any more passwords, but I can click the "Forgot my password" button and enter my Google Account password. On my rooted 4.0.3 tablet running a custom ROM, my lock screen is set with a numeric PIN. If I input it incorrectly five times or more, it locks itself and I can't enter any more passwords. I'm not offered the option to enter my Google account password to bypass this, although I have configured a Google account on the device. I want to activate the "I forgot" button in order to enter my Google Account credentials. Is it possible?

Someone I know with an Samsung S23 gave someone their phone at a store to help them log in to the store’s app and subsequently they had a fingerprint Lock Screen turned on on their phone that they didn’t want (yes I know not having a secured Lock Screen is a bad idea but it’s not my phone). They wanted to turn it off but it was asking for a password they didn’t know or remember setting. What is unclear to both of us is whether this password would have been created today or if it could have been set up when the phone was first set up. I am not personally an Android user so I have no idea how it works. When you set up a (Samsung) Android phone is it even possible to set a lock screen password without having a protected lock screen activated? Plus, if it does retain a lock screen password like that, if you then activated a lock screen protection wouldn't it ask you first to confirm that password? e.g. on iPhones if you turn off your device passcode you would have to set a new passcode if you wanted to re-enable it / biometric unlocking.

I have noticed that fingerprint unlocking on Android is pretty insecure. If you make 5 failed attempts (which is quite a lot), the phone just disables the scanner for 30 seconds and then re-enables it. I would like to reduce the number of attempts before disabling the scanner, and then set it to require the password before unlocking. Google searches for this have revealed many pages of results of people wanting to make their phones _less_ secure by increasing the number of attempts or disabling the horrific 30 second waiting period, but am I the only one concerned that it is pretty insecure as it is? I don't want to have to disable fingerprint unlock, as I have a very secure password set that would be a bit of a pain to enter every time I unlocked my phone. Likewise with passwords, the "Automatically wipe after x failed password attempts" option seems to have disappeared from my phone as of the Oreo update, and there is a fixed 30 second waiting period every 5 attempts, which means that with a reasonable pool of guesses, anyone could brute force my password with enough tries. How can I reduce the number of attempts required before disabling the fingerprint scanner and then set it to require my password before unlocking?

I **forgot my password** so it **got formated**, I was gonna just **set the phone** again but the thing is my phones **WiFi does not work** *(Maybe because of the firmware)*. So I thouht I could use **Mobile Data** but I need to **set the APN** and the **Tools button is grayed out**, so I can not do that *(Is there a way?)*. So I think the only way I might have is to **re-flash its stock OS**. And I started trying that. But.. when I try to flash the **ZIP RUU** i downloaded from XDA Forums using the flashing tool they provide *(I tried others but got the same output)* i get this error when the second zip is being written (bootloader) ERR Update zip file failed. (bootloader) ERR ZIP ERROR, exit read zip loop (bootloader) ERR ZIP signature checking failed... (bootloader) Update zip file OK (bootloader) ERR ZIP ERROR CODE, 22 (bootloader) end@Done I looked in Google and found that this maybe because the download is corrupted so i downloaded again but i got the same. Then I tried to flash the firmware because maybe it could be that but I get that same error. So as i looked more i thougt maybe is was because my **bootloader is locked** so looked in how to do that and followed the instructions in HTCDev for my specific model but the *fastboot.exe* file i got opens a terminal window but closes in a second so I did it using the *Open PowerShell from here* method but then **instead** of the response i should get as the **instructions** said i got this error (bootloader) [KillSwitch] : /dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/frp (bootloader) [KillSwitch] Last Byte is 0X00, disable unlock (bootloader) [KillSwitch] oem unlock Turn Off! I looked for this in Google and a **forum comment** says it might be like a **protection** because of the reset, What can I do about this if I need to get my phone working again somehow?

I have a few other devices that are running Android 12 or less, is there a way to force the user to enter a password to turn it off? I did a search and it seems there is such a feature in newer Android devices by some manufacturers. One suggested way was to set up a macro on the longpress of the power button hence preventing it from shutting down. Is there a way I can achieve this even if it means rooting my phone or using third-party apps?

I have tried to factory reset the phone, holding volume up and power, holding volume down and power (which showed fastboot mode at the bottom of the screen, but I am not able to click on it or highlight it). I have tried to contact the carrier for the phone and everything they told me to do, I had already tried and it isn't working. If I hold volume up and power, it either stays blank or keeps popping up the android logo. What can I do? I tried to use Find My Device through Google and it can't even trace the device.
