I want to keep using my old banking app and want to avoid any updates. So I exported (extracted) the current app with ApkExtractor, but I realized that I cannot reinstall the exported APK file. After some digging it turned out that ApkExtractor exported just the base APK which was insufficient for this banking app. So I went for Amaze which is able to export the split APKs as well. So I exported the entire APK set of the banking app, combined the resulting APKs into one single APK file with Antisplitter. Antisplitter is useful as it signes the resulting APK as well.
Now with this APK file I could reinstall my banking app, at least Android says that the installation was successful. But if I start the banking app it throws a security error message. What is still missing? The method I described above works fine for several other split APKs like Facebook, etc., but it doesn't work for my particular banking app. I understand that banking apps are sensitive, but I would like to understand what prevents the reinstallation. Can it be something with the signature? Is so, is there any way I can directly export the original installer APK from Google Play? Unfortunately it's unavailable in APKMirror, APKPure, etc.
I know I should use the latest banking app, but I still would like to understand what is going on here.
Thanks!

Exporting a full WhatsApp chat to .txt

So, I've decided to try and do some analysis on my WhatsApp chat history. For that purpose, the built-in export function would work quite well, **but** it is for some reason restricted to the latest 40.000 messages. Some of my chats go back way further than that, and I'd like to include those conversations in my dataset.
And that's where it gets complicated. Things I've tried so far:
1. A variety of recovery tools (drfone, BackupToolForWhatsApp,...) that invariably failed to connect and/or demanded a lot of money and/or contained malware
2. Finding the msgstore.db.crypt12 as a file on the phone and opening it as text with various apps (some people claimed that worked, it didn't though, everything just crashed or complained about the format)
3. Copying the msgstore.db.crypt12 onto my computer and there decrypting it with the key file, which led to the next problem, obtaining said key file.
4. A bunch of outdated and thus no longer functional WhatsApp key extractor tools which tried to either grab the backups off Google Drive, or temporarily install a legacy Version of WhatsApp with a vulnerability that allowed the key to be extracted. This failed because the tools haven't been updated in like three years and I'm not Java-savy enough to go digging in their source code myself. I actually downloaded a legacy APK to try and manually install that old WhatsApp version, but that only led to an error about the datetime of my phone (which was set to automatic and thus was correct) and no key.
5. Rooting my phone in order to get access to the directory where the key is hopefully located. This failed, perhaps because I did the mistake of updating my firmware to the July 2019 patch level, and so no root exploits seemed to work
6. Digging around in protected directories with tools that do not quite require root access. However, I wasn't able to locate anything that even looked like the place WhatsApp might store its key.
7. Reading through lots of forum posts on the same issue without any discernible results.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8, model number SM-G950F, German localization, with Android 9.
My question is simple: What else can I do? It can't be that it's literally impossible to dig at the messages which WhatsApp is happily storing and backing up. I'd even be willing to buy some software as long as it's reasonably priced and guaranteed to work.
Also, what directory would I be looking for to get that key, assuming I'd somehow get root access?
Update 28.07.2020:
It seems that in some locales (specifically the EU?), the native export function was disabled in its entirety. The method detailed in my answer below still works excellently, however.

Export multiple WhatsApp conversations to .txt or .csv format
I need to export a lot of different conversations, they are not very old, maximum 1200 messages. However, the WhatsApp export tool only allows me to do it one by one, is there any way to do it faster?

A colleague of mine had his e-mail messages deleted from their e-mail account by accident. This happened quite a few weeks ago so he did not notice this until now. By now all the backups of his e-mail account already do not contain these messages anymore.
But he did not check his e-mail on his mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra) and so his mobile e-mail client (Samsung email app) did not sync with the IMAP server. We have disabled the sync, so he can see the older e-mails in his Samsung Galaxy S23. The question now is, how to get these e-mails from this app? There are more than 5000 emails on the phone.
We would like not to have to root the phone to get this done. Does anybody know how we can get his e-mails from the phone? Even if they do not have attachments, that is no problem.
We tried using ADB for the backup of com.samsung.android.email.provider, but his does not seem to work - the backup file is empty. We tried My Backup app, but this still has not finished the backup process so I do not know if this will work or not.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How can I export MIUI notes?
I'm using a Xiaomi RedMi 3S phone, whose MIUI environment includes a "Notes" app. The app itself does not have an export feature. Can I somehow locate/extract the note data - for all notes - into text files, or some other readable format? Note: I don't know where this data is stored.

I have a Xiaomi Redmi 9A that's been loyal to me for a few years. But afraid it will die on me after I noticed its battery started to drain by itself nowadays and it's also slow since longer.
I'm scared all my school, work, and other notes will be lost since I don't have the budget for a new Xiaomi phone yet, and even if I do get one, I don't know if it would sync over all of them to that, even if I do log into my Xiaomi account on that too.
Anyway, I have notes between them that would be better on PC, like my digital diary notes which also have photos (I would like to mix them into one Word file on PC). But I don't know any specific program to export notes from Mi-Cloud to PC as Word files (and yes, with intact images). (Speaking of 3500 notes and, like, 80-90% have HD images in them).
If anyone has any idea how to do this "NotesWithImages from Mi-Cloud to PC Word365", I'm welcoming them with spread arms!

I know I can screenshot stuff, but the date for older messages is missing. I know I can long press on a single message to select it.
I can long press on multiple messages.
But that's beside the point: how can I grab the data --- message, date & time received?
If it's relevant, the phone is Pixel 4a.

I am trying to get to the data recorded by a step counter app from Leap Fitness Group:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pedometer.steptracker.calorieburner.stepcounter
I have had this app for a rather long time and I'd like to acquire the data that it has been recording to analyze and visualize it with data analytics software myself. I don't know which file I need to export from the app folder, as all the files seem to have some day in 1981 as their last edit date. The app also syncs to my google (drive?) account, but I can't find the files in my Google Drive. I have searched the internetz for solutions, but my searches have returned zilch, and I don't know how to monitor an app on Android to see where it's writing to and in what format.
If you have ever tried to export your data from an app by Leap Fitness Group, I invite you to share your experiences.

To save a large (group) chat history of WhatsApp on an Android phone, I have looked to the internet for help - but still cannot save/backup the entire conversation/chat from the beginning.
For information, my example is a group chat with history composed of maybe a few hundred text messages (starting in 2017), containing maybe thirty images, a few videos, and some short voice files. It definitely should not exceed the limits of the WhatsApp system. There is nothing rude in the chat but some strong feelings are expressed by some, in any case, should not fall foul with any censorship.
I can see the entire chat (from beginning to current) on my phone, but when I export the chat via email and Gmail it only shows approx. one month of chat.
I use the procedure advised by the internet including this forum that I am writing in. I use the selections: More, Export Chat, Include Media, Send chat via (and each time click Email or Gmail), type into the To field, then send. It sends but in checking the sent mail, can only see recent chats.
So why can I not backup the entire chat history? What is limiting and preventing seeing (exporting?) the entire chat history?

When I export my Android phone's contacts via a VCF file, it seems the contact groups are not indicated in the VCF (and are thus lost if I only import that file).
I see a lot of apps for exporting and importing contacts, but none whose name suggests it will export my contact groups as well.
My questions:
* Is there a way for me to export my contacts together with the contact groups?
* Is there a way for me to export _just_ my contact groups (i.e. which contact belongs to which group)?
* Can I import just-contact-groups "onto" a set of contacts without contact groups (the result of a previous import-export without contact groups)?
Notes:
* I don't have a Google account (and won't get one).
* In case it matters - the phone from which I'm exporting is a Xiaomi RedMi 3S (Android 6.0.1, MIUI 10).
* This question is related, but I don't care about exporting to a VCF specifically; and Android has changed over the years; and the answer there regards a Google account.
