How to stop Google Play Services from connecting to internet? To prevent Google from misusing it to spy on me (non-modified android, no root)

I wanted to reduce the amount of thing that Google knows about myself, because after reading several articles about what data that Google collect by default in android, I feel terrified. Because it is like no matter where I go, there is a creep behind my back that keeps on following me, watching me 24/7, like a drunk weirdo on the street that looks at me with scary eye and keeps on insisting to follow me (where in this case, the creep is Google). While trying to reduce the amount of data that google can collect on my phone (I have uninstalled or disabled all google app, including google play store, except google play services) , there is a severe roadblock that I encountered and don't know how to solve. One of the problem is that **I don't know how to keep google play services enabled while also preventing it from connecting to internet to stop google from misusing it to collect data in my phone**. I can disable it, but many app on my phone (such as WhatsApp) either breaks or work incorrectly when google play services is disabled. The most notable problem is that WhatsApp stop working in the background when google play services is disabled, that means I wont receive call and messages unless WhatsApp is opened in my screen (I have tried everything to prevent it from stop working in the background, none worked). To keep it simple, this is what I want to achieve: **I want google play services to remain enabled and all apps that use google play services able to connect to internet, while at the same time I don't want to allow google play services to connect to the internet**. In other word, I need some kind of firewall that allows all app, except google play services, from connecting to the internet. Android does not have firewall by default, and I tried to use firewall for non-rooted device such as NetGuard. To my surprise, google play services didn't show up in any of the firewall I tried, which means I cant use the firewall to block it. I really, really want to avoid rooting my phone because of serious security issues and the possibility of bricking my phone in the process. So, how to achieve what i want in non-rooted android phone?

I recently purchased a Huawei Y6P without realizing that it comes without Google apps. I am situated in Europe, not China, and I am used to using Google where I have all my data. I have followed several guides online and all have failed. They all center around installing the Google Play Services apk and then the Google Play store apk, but they all point to different dodgy/old apk binaries. This is what I have done: 1. I have enabled installing apps from untrusted sources. 2. I have installed Google Play Services 21.33.56 (the latest at this time) from apkmirror.com. I chose the version for Android 10, built for armeabi-v7a. 3. Once I install this, I get a new option under "Settings" -> "Accounts" for a "Google" account. Once I touch "Google", the activity seems to crash and return me back to the accounts menu. 4. I can install other google apps like play, chrome, maps, etc, but they all fail to load without error messages. I suspect this is because the Google Services app is not working and I have not been able to login to my account. Can someone please shed some light on this? Am I installing a build for an incorrect architecture? I'm beginning to regret buying a Huawei phone. I never would have guessed it's so hard to connect to my google calendar, keep, contacts, and other online data that I have on Google. Please help!

Recently I've decided to de-Google my phone, and noticed some issues: 1. GMS is NOT the core of AOSP, BUT is definitely required for most apps that need some account management to work properly like all Google apps and most third-party apps that I can easily live without or replace with other apps. 2. The lack of Google Play Services drastically slows down some of the basic apps like browsers (not all of them, but most like Chrome, Edge & Brave), although I can use browsers or alternatives for things like synced calendars, notes, and office. I currently have no idea how could I make the basics work flawlessly with GMS completely removed. Any recommendations?

I was shocked, so I opened up my Settings, and then the App Manager. There, the Google Play service was gone. So, I hurried up and contacted the vivo team so they could help, but it was going to take a long time. So I've searched on how to get it back, but it seems I can't find any answers, so I had to wait for the email to get delivered. How to get it back?

I am having a problem on my Android TV Box X96 Max Plus Ultra (s905x4 4/64) Android 11. Tested on stock and on Slimbox ATV / AOSP with root and Magisk. When I want to log in and connect to VPN in the NordVPN app, I get the error: > Exception during generating key keystore operation failed / exception during encryption keystore operation failed Which would cause the login is not possible. I did try several versions of the app. I can see the errors in the log of the app; the login procedure is: 1. Press Login in NordVPN 2. A Chrome window opens to enter the e-mail and password 3. After that, it returns to the app and login should be confirmed SELinux = permissive. I have tried around and could bypass these errors with:
Magiskpolicy deny gmscore_app keystore keystore_key gen_unique_id
chmod 660 /sys/fs/selinux/enforce
chmod 440 /sys/fs/selinux/policy #policy change not needed, just to make sure
Other things I did try: disable Google Play services (GMS) and the login and connection in NordVPN worked too (but the Google apps obviously could not work, and disabling the app is kind of equal result to denying the rule) Only these changes would let me log in and connect without error. Could anyone think of why this problem could exist and maybe how to fix it? And what impact (negative) on the system could these changes have? I have uploaded logs to Pastebin. In seconds on the timeline i did press login on .30/00 and connect on .20/50. Logcat: https://pastebin.com/GuNcqzir Log from Nordvpn: https://pastebin.com/t2r8jJH8 Log from begin of boot (1+2): https://pastebin.com/YVyF2k5a https://pastebin.com/TrtKLuwE I did find some errors in the log from boot 1 which i think could be related:

I've just installed Android Phoenix OS as a virtual machine using bhyve hypervisor. The problem that I have is that I'm not able to upgrade the Google Play Services for some reason : a And if it is not upgraded to the latest version, the NetFlix app does not work. Neither if I make the installation of the apk file. I've registered Android by executing the following commands inside the Termux terminal : ANDROID_RUNTIME_ROOT=/apex/com.android.runtime ANDROID_DATA=/data ANDROID_TZDATA_ROOT=/apex/com.android.tzdata ANDROID_I18N_ROOT=/apex/com.android.i18n sqlite3 /data/data/com.google.android.gsf/databases/gservices.db "select * from main where name = \"android_id\";" and yes,it says that the device has been registered. So the reason of the error given is caused by a different reason. Can someone guess what could be ?

https://developer.android.com/studio/run/managing-avds#system-image says > To ensure app security and a consistent experience with physical devices, system images with the Google Play Store included are signed with a release key, which means that you cannot get elevated privileges (root) with these images. If you require elevated privileges (root) to aid with your app troubleshooting, you can use the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) system images that do not include Google apps or services. But what if I wanted both root AND Google services? how could I do that? Thanks!

I have an old Nexus 7 2013 tablet. It had virtually stopped working, so I did a factory reset. When I boot up it now goes into the Google startup screen and then to setting up a new account. It connects to WiFi but then at the next stage says Google play services has failed. I can't get past this stage. So I thought I would install Lineage OS. **How can I enable Developer mode and USB debugging without a working Android system?** When I connect with a USB cable to a PC, the PC doesn't recognize it. It charges but it doesn't show up on the PC as being attached. When I run adb devices on the PC it runs but shows no devices attached. I've checked the cable using another device and that shows up on my PC. **Is there a way to get my original Android system working or turn on Developers mode and USB debug so I can install LineageOS or some other OS?**

is it possible to create a simple dummy apk to replace an app that causes trouble? The apk would just do nothing. my goal is to prevent the unnecessary app from bloating the small ram j7 has. The app to be replaced is: google play services (i dont care losing its functionalities...), because on j7 we cant: disable it, uninstall it, not even using adb shell as it says permission denied or the app is device admin (there is no command to remove admin from app thru adb shell on dpm help)... rooting is not an option. It will force a bootloader unlocked that will prevent netflix working properly. so my last hope is ask them to let I didable or uninstall it (already lost this hope just after thinking it), or find another workaround to solve the ram bloating problem. so i thought that one way could be to dummify these problematic apps. And uninstall everything that depends on it too of course. But is it possible? How can it be done?

Is there any way to 'resurrect' the Google Play Store? Some government apps need the Google Play Store or else they crash.

What is com.mgoogle.android.gms?
While checking the installed packages in my device through `adb`. I found two packages, `com.google.android.gms` and `com.mgoogle.android.gms`. I know the former is related to Google Play Serivces. **What is `com.mgoogle.android.gms` and its significance?** Should I remove it?

(I have already looked up many solutions involving apk-managers or un-/reinstalling offered in similar situations, but none of them seemed to work in my case.) When trying to update the app "Google Play services" (microG Services Core, com.google.android.gms) I get the error message "Conflicting package exists". Meanwhile other apps are complaining that Google play services are not up to date. I am at a loss because I cannot uninstall this app, and solutions using apkmanagers have also failed, perhaps due to not having root access. I also tried installing the Google play services apk from apkmirror sites, but the installer would simply say that the app could not be installed. I am open to more radical solutions like a factory reset, but I want to be sure that would even help before I do. I have adb tools on my laptop. I have a mostly degoogled phone (e/OS) and usually use F-Droid for my apps, and aurora store for apps (such as this one) that cannot be found on F-Droid. I am trying to update Google Play Services through the aurora store. It has always worked so far, and other apps update normally. I think this issue might have happened while I was manually updating some apps and accidentally had two updates running at the same time? I'm not entirely sure. E/OS has its own store but it has never really worked for me and I never use it. The e/OS store always claims that all apps are up to date.

I can not disable my Google Play services because my old Samsung J7 (SM-J700H) phone does not let me disable the administrator privileges of Google Play services. I am trying to do this because my phone has been giving me a repeated error since yesterday that > Unfotunately, Google Play services have stopped working. I thought that if I uninstalled this, it might do the job. But whenever I try to disable/uninstall it, it says it has administrator privileges. The privileges it has is the "Find my Device" option turned on. When I try to turn that off, Settings stop working too, so I am pretty much boxed here. Here are the fixes I have tried. - I deleted the cache of the Google Play Store. - I deleted all the cache partitions of the phone. These fixes did not do the job and I am here for any kind of help.
