Is it possible to set a different language with an adb shell command? adb shell settings get global settings_app_locale_opt_in_enabled returns null, so I'm not sure if it's even implemented at all. Smartphone is rooted with Magisk.

Since I updated Swype, the language initials are on the space bar and this tip doesn't work any more. I can still switch languages by long-pressing the space bar but that's a hassle. What's the new quick way to change the language? Here's a screenshot of the keyboard as it looks like for me: Swype keyboard with no dedicated language switching key

I have a keyboard problem with my Samsung Galaxy Alpha (SM-G850F, I know it's an old model, but it has significant sentimental value to me): after a crash, some keyboard languages disappeared and I am unable to reinstall them, the list of available languages doesn't even load: Image Image I saved the logcat when the "Failed to download language list" error appears, and there is an entry which says the version number is corrupted: Image It seems to try to read it from this hyperlink, which looks broken: https://redirect.client-wifi.com/login.html?redirect=samsungresources.visionobjects.com/13i92/latest.txt . However, the part after the equal sign still works, and the text file remains accessible. I have tried restarting the device and deleting the data of the Samsung Keyboard to no avail. I am not interested in third-party keyboards such as SwiftKey or GBoard, I just want the French Samsung keyboard I'm used to back. Samsung support has not been able to provide a solution, unfortunately, and the same question was also asked on XDA Forums (it seems some other people have the same problem), but so far, no luck either. Does anyone know what the https://redirect.client-wifi.com/login.html ? part of the URL is? Is it a local address? Is it just a case of Samsung fixing the redirection link? Alternatively, is there a way to download the Samsung language pack and install it myself? (Apologies if the question sounds basic, but I don't really have any knowledge in this area.)

Both System language and TalkBack language are set to Simplified Chinese, but after several minutes of use, the voice will speak in Chinese but with an American accent. It's quite hard to understand what the voice is saying due to the accent. I've tried looking around on various websites but am still unable to find any solution or explanation. Is there any fix or solution for this problem?

I've been using Google Voice Typing for quite some time as it's fast and convenient compared to typing on the phone keyboard. However, I speak multiple languages, and when I use the Google Voice software, if I enable different languages, the software is supposed to "auto detect" the language I speak, but it makes mistakes all the time. One way for me to get around this is to only select the language I want to speak in and deselect the other languages, but it gets tedious to do. There are a lot of languages that Google Voice Typing supports now and to search for the language I want to speak can be a bit of a pain when I need to reply to several messages in a short amount of time in different languages. My understanding is that there is no "long press" or a simple "language toggle" button for Google Voice Typing, but is there any way to set something like "favorite languages" so they can be displayed at the top so the languages are easier to find? I remember some of the older versions of Google Voice Typing would go by the keyboard language that's on, so as I switched the keyboard language, Google Voice Typing would only be picking up what I say in that language, which worked out much better for me. At the same time, I notice that when I don't have the best internet connection, it can take FOREVER for the Google Voice Typing to work. If I go offline (airplane mode, turn off data, etc.) then it works great because Google Voice Typing goes to offline mode. Is there any way to force the phone to always be in offline mode for Google Voice Typing? Since we can download each diction library offline already, I would hope there's a way or some kind of code that can force the software to use the offline library rather than trying to connect to the server every time.

I recently got a new phone, a Landvo XM100 Plus. It sometimes reboots randomly which doesn't bother me much, but what's annoying is that it keeps setting the system language to German. I did not have these issues on my old phone (Samsung Galaxy S3), and I don't have the problem when there is no SIM Card inserted. However, I'm using the same SIM that I used in my old phone, so I'm really confused as to what is going on. I tried googling the issue and I ended up at a few different boards with everyone basically scratching their heads. Could it be the custom ROM the manufacturer uses? I don't quite want to flash my phone with a different OS right now since I still got a warranty. Any ideas?

Installing the English (United States) language
I recently got my Desire HD, and it came pre-installed with Deutsch, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, each in a (Spain) or (Portugal) flavor. Is there some way of getting an English (United States) or English (United Kingdom) on it? Removing the other languages as well, would be nice.

I've set English as the default language on my Samsung Galaxy A35 (Android 14) and German (Switzerland) as a second language. How do I set the locale to CH (Switzerland)? I need numbers, units, time formatting as it should be in CH but the phone uses US settings (from the default language). The UI does not offer to set English (Switzerland) as a language. I've read somewhere that Android 14 supports setting the regional details but could not find this setting. Applications to set the locale do not longer exist or work. Setting the locale using ADB with "setprop persist.sys.locale en-CH" results in an error. PS: I actually would prefer the date formatting yyyy-mm-dd instead of dd.mm.yyyy common here.

Is there any way to make your Android keyboard type in the Latin alphabet but write in another language, e.g. Persian (Farsi) or other languages? For example, if you write the phonetics of some word in the Latin alphabet (English alphabet), it writes the equivalent Persian word in the input box. Like the picture below in Google Translate, when the input language is something other than Latin languages, it suggests Persian writing. > Image The Persian keyboard of an Android phone of one of my friends suddenly has been changed and behaves like told. And the language symbol when you swipe is A->ا which probably means write in Latin and receive Persian. I checked all the language settings. Nothing odd was there except only one thing that I checked which was the Farsi Latin input language, and the problem was not due to that. Note: you can forget about the (Farsi Latin) because it was not set in the first place. I only told for the ways I have tried. So, how to take the keyboard back to normal Farsi?

I am using Gboard to translate text from English to other languages. Some languages can be written in more than one script. I was wondering whether it would be possible to select Bosnian in Cyrillic rather than Latin script as my translation output, or pinyin instead of hanzi as the output text for Chinese. The same goes for other languages that can have more than one destination translation output script. Is this possible with Gboard (and, in general, also with Google Translate)? How can I achieve this behavior?

I think it would be nice if in the text-to-speech settings you could specify a cascading set of languages, with dictionaries, associated with each language, intrinsic in the language selection. When, a word is encountered, TTS would look up the word in the dictionary for the selected language, if it is not found, it looks it up in the dictionary for the second language, and so on. When a word is found in a dictionary, it is played, using the language intonation for the language associated with that dictionary. If the word is not found in any dictionary, the first language specified is used to pronounce the word, by default. This multi-language algorithm could be a bit more processor expensive, but several multilingual users who write their notes and text in their apps in more than one language at a time (even using the Feynman method, ie., write as text comes natural to you, rather than abiding by the rules of a specific language), for instance in their Google keep notes, might like this feature (and use it). Can this be implemented in Android? When will this be implemented? How can I enable it? Thanks.
