Installing the English (United States) language
I recently got my Desire HD, and it came pre-installed with Deutsch, English, Spanish, French and Portuguese, each in a (Spain) or (Portugal) flavor. Is there some way of getting an English (United States) or English (United Kingdom) on it? Removing the other languages as well, would be nice.

I did something so stupid I'm almost kind of proud of it. I rooted my LG Optimus T (Froyo) using Gingerbreak, cleaned out a bunch of stuff, and accidentally deleted the home screen launcher. No big, I'll just install a new one... but I have a chicken and egg problem now, that requires debug mode to get out of. I can't just open settings on my phone to set debug mode. And the phone only starts up in safe mode.
So the tl;dr is this: I need to force my phone into debug mode via USB, in safe mode. If I can't do this, I will have to buy a new phone. Please help me!

Anybody knows of a good **widget** which does just that : either disable the screen time ( by just clicking the widget ) , or by setting it to a high value / back to short value ( also by just clicking the widget ).
Or is there any other easy way I have missed ?
I am running Froyo on Samsung Galaxy S.

Even though i know Froyo is quite old I never ever read about someone who upraded to Version 2.2.2 though. Everybody seems to stay with 2.2 (or switches to 2.3,...)
That's why I would like to ask if there is a way to switch to 2.2.2 even though my carrier doesn't provide it through kies???
--> I already found this page
Official ROMs for i5500
but I don't really know about the JPJ/JQ3...-Codes. Even though it says that these ROMs should be 2.2.2 I am not really sure about that, because the Codes listed differ quite a lot.
My actual SW-Version: PDA XWJQ3 / PHONE NEJPS / CSC REJP2

I have a wifi router I want to connect to. It's a TP-Link (Model No. TL-WA901N / TL-WA901ND 2.0). I have enabled WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK on the router, (the default), when I try and connect my HTC Desire to it (Android 2.2), it connects once I enter the password, but never successfully obtains an IP address.
It then it disconnects within a few seconds, it will repeat this 8 times, gives up and then tries the next available network and successfully holds that connection. I do know that the device is connecting initially because I am watching the router's console for connections, and the MAC address that connects matches the my phone.
I am using my router in the default "Access Point" mode, and the default gateway is 192.168.1.254.

Is it possible to disable updates to Google Play and Google Play Services?
I have automatic updates switched off, but this 2 Google apps are upgrading itself without my permission, and I can only helplessly watch how the free space is decreasing to the amount, my Gmail synchronization is not working anymore (related to https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/3399/does-the-gmail-app-stop-syncing-once-the-low-on-space-message-appears?lq=1) .
I know I should root my phone to move apps to SD completely, but I don't want to do that before the end of summer, to not risk not having mobile internet in case something goes wrong.
# Edit:
Device is a HTC Desire A8181, aka HTC Bravo.

My Sony Reader PRS-T1 based on Android 2.2 is acting funny.
I had rooted it in the past but is now in the "original" state, upgraded with the latest official firmware.
The problem is that many times, the unit becomes unresponsive. This happens after putting the unit on sleep and waking it again. The dictionary hangs, changing dictionaries hangs even worse and sometimes highlighting text as well (this makes the dictionary pop up.
I managed to get logs and I found the following error messages, just after waking from sleepmode:

Only thing is, I can't get it to zoom in or out - there is no touch (so multitouch doesn't work) and there are no +/- buttons as there are on some stock browsers.
The stock browser doesn't work on the site in questions, and Firefox won't load onto the device (it has a MIPS processor, so any app using the native SDK won't work). Any ideas?
