I've got my first real Android device (until now only Android-x86 and Waydroid on PC) - a tablet and now I'm encountering some problems and googling doesn't help. First day I did set up the device, I know the screen saver showing clock was working. And then it just started to turn black. In the meantime I didn't do much changes. One thing I did I installed "System UI tuner" to be able to show seconds in status bar. I seem to remember that the screen saver worked after that because I thought about it not showing seconds.
Now I don't understand what happened but I cannot turn "Use screen saver" switch ON - when I tap it it launches screensaver, then I tap on the screen, the screen saver stops and the switch is OFF. After the inactivity timeout the screen goes black.
It is the same if I choose colors instead of clock, the same for different "When to start". I even tried to add a new user with default settings, anyway the screen goes black.

My screen timeout is set to one minute, but there are cases when I temporarily want to change it to 30, which is the maximum value apparently.
The fastest way I found is to create a shortcut to the Display section of the settings app. I still need to close the app I'm in, click on the shortcut, then click timeout, then select 30 minutes.
Is there a faster way?
Ideally, I'd like to have an option to completely disable screen timeout in the quick settings dropdown, but I think it's up to the device manufacturer what's in that menu?
If it matters, I have a FairPhone 4 with Android 12

There's a strange situation on my new phone where as soon as the screen turns off due to inactivity, it wakes up again by itself after a couple of seconds. (However, if I turn it off manually, it stays off.)
I noticed that this stops when I disable "Wake screen for notifications". However, there are no notifications coming in when this happens or even an active notification that can be dismissed but hasn't; the display just wakes up at a very regular, short interval after it goes to sleep.
Other similar problems I found mentioned on the Web don't seem relevant; e.g.,
- it happens even if the device is not moving (but "Lift to check phone" is off just in case).
- "Screen attention" is off
**Question**:
I would like to stop this from happening but still have the display wake up when an actual notification comes in. Any ideas / previous experience? If not, is there a way to find out exactly what's causing it to wake up?
**Device details**:
- Pixel 6 Pro
- Lineage 20-20230331-NIGHTLY-raven (Android 13)
**UPDATE**
I found what seem like the most relevant entries from logcat at the time of waking up: https://pastebin.com/yUCqFegF
Specifically, some of the entries have
reason=WAKE_REASON_GESTURE
, which seems to suggest (I couldn't find an explicit description/definition online) that a "gesture" is responsible for waking up the display.
However, the device is not moving and I'm not touching it or even near it when this happens. Also, it sounds to me that this is not really consistent with the fact that this behaviour stops when I disable "Wake screen for notifications".
From the UID (10204), it appears that com.android.systemui
is the offending package:
$ adb shell pm list packages --uid 10204
package:com.android.systemui uid:10204
Here's a screenshot of the Gestures settings for reference:

This setting change also happens if I have the Power Mode in "Maximum Power Saving" and I switch to a different Power Mode. I don't think it happens in Safe Mode.
This started happening a few months ago. It also happened with my old Galaxy S7; my solution was to get the S9. (JK, I had other reasons too.)
EDIT: Yes, Cody: I can set the timeout to any value, but when the phone restarts or comes out of "Maximum Power Saving", the timeout is reset to "**()**".

Disable automatic screen turn-off even if I am not near the phone during call
I have a non-rooted Samsung Galaxy S9 running on Android 10. If I am placing my phone on a table during a call (using an external headset), it will turn off the screen after a couple of seconds. How do I disable that? I prefer not to install new apps nor rooting the phone.

The default
True, it's not "fully" on. It's a black screen with a clock and battery percentage. But is there any way to keep the screen completely off and only keep the glance screen on if I actually have notifications waiting to be reviewed?
In other words, see how Wikipedia describes what I want:
> Typically, an Ambient display solution which turns on the screen only when notifications are present, remains on, but turns off when they are dismissed.

Here is what I get when the screen is supposed to be turned off:
Settings=>Display=>Advance=>Screen timeout
to 30 seconds, but I still like be aware when I have notifications waiting to be reviewed.
In Settings=>Display=>Advanced
there are Glance view
options:

Glance display duration
is 30 seconds
. But I like to see all of the notifications which I missed when I wasn't around my phone, so I've changed it to Always on
...which got the screen to be constantly on!

I use Motion Detector & Tasker to turn screen on.
It works OK ... like this:
- when screen is off and Motion Detector discovers a motion it will turn screen on.
- Tasker sets display timeout to 30 sec
Here is where it goes wrong ... the screen is not turn off after 30 sec but after 6-8 sec ... but when I tap the screen when it is turned on then it stays alive 30 sec.
I seems that Android can't read the timeout in Display settings which is 30 sec ... only when I tap the screen it reads the settings.
I have Android 9 & Galaxy Tab S5e.
Then I took another approach ....
I installed SETEDIT from Play to check the value of 'screen_off_timeout'. Then I ran two different test - one with Tasker disabled - one with Tasker enabled.
Taker disabled:
1. In 'Settings/Dislay/Screen timeout' I set to 15 sec
2. The display shutdown occured after 15 sec first time ... OK
3. When I woke the display its shutdown occured after 15 sec ... OK
4. In SETEDIT the value of 'screen_off_timeout' was 15000 ms = 15 sec
5. In 'Settings/Dislay/Screen timeout' was still 15 sec
So it seems that without Tasker it behaves as expected.
Taker enabled:
1. In 'Settings/Dislay/Screen timeout' I set to 15 sec
2. In Tasker I set 'Display Timeout' to 1 min
2. The display shutdown occured after 15 sec first time ... OK
3. When the display woke up due to a motion was detected ... its shutdown occured after 5-7 sec ... not OK
4. In SETEDIT the value of 'screen_off_timeout' was changed by Tasker to 60000 ms = 1 min ... OK
5. In 'Settings/Dislay/Screen timeout' was also changed to 1 min ... OK
So both SETEDIT & 'Settings/Dislay/Screen timeout' shows the correct values ... why is screen shut down after 5-7 sec???

I drive typically 300+miles a day and my phone works both as my GPS and my media player through my work trucks AUX port. I drive to a lot of the same places so after awhile the GPS isn't kept on top and just stays running in the background to warn me if there's a faster route than usual due to accidents or traffic. Thus I'd rather let Google Maps run in the background and have Pandora on screen to make it easy to up and down vote songs without anything more than a quick glance, I drive a large truck so the whole picking up my phone, turning the screen on, entering my pin, etc is not a valid solution to me. Yet if Google Maps isn't on screen the screen will eventually dim and turn off. Does anyone know of an app or workaround that would keep the screen on while Pandora is running? Maybe something with extra features such as only if Pandora is running and the phone is charging. I'm aware of the "Keep screen on while charging" option but thanks to me having a crappy Samsung (Samsung Galaxy S5, Android 6.0.1) this means when my phone is finished charging at night the screen turns on and stays on waking me up. My only request is please only give valid answers, no "Sorry not possible.", "Don't mess with your phone while driving.", "Just deal with the screen turning on at night.", etc.

I click the home button to activate the phone. If I don't swipe within two seconds, it goes black and I have to hit Home again.
This is frustrating when I want to just view the time and weather on the lock screen. It's almost enough time to view time and weather, but if I also want to see what date it is, then 2 seconds isn't enough time to view all three things and digest the information.
So I find myself hitting the Home button 2 or three times. So I guess I might as well just swipe and activate the phone. But I really wanted to just set the screen to stay on a little longer. I set the display timeout to 10 minutes but this doesn't affect the lock screen. It still blinks off after 2 seconds.
Is there any setting or something from a Tasker app or something, that can extend the time the lock screen will appear?

I read [this](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/7788/how-to-disable-screen-timeout-for-a-particular-program-only) , [this](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/4595/screen-timeout-when-reading) and [this](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/10223/change-screen-timeout-to-never) answers, but some apps (like Screebl or Keep Screen Lite) are non-existent already and some (Tasker) are not working for me.
The most proposed solution is Tasker, however I tried it and it messes my display settings which is even worse than the lack of dynamic timeout. It doesn't return timeout setting to default state which then drains my battery and is also very irritating. Seems to be a bug.
My question is: do you know a **native MM way** to dynamically set up timeout while browsing? Or maybe a web-browser app that have **built-in** ability to disable timeout?
I tried searching descriptions of apps, but this option is rarely highlighted, and, personal experience is highly appreciated. Have anybody met such app?

4. After time delay has elapsed instant reenabling of the screen is enabled.

In Andoid 5, when doing nothing, after a few seconds (10 seconds?), the light dims, and after 30 seconds, the screen goes off. (This can be changed in *Settings > Display and wallpaper > Screen timeout*).
This is generally good, but **when reading** something on internet, it's annoying, because the screen goes off all the time, forcing to tap the screen often to keep it on.
**Question: is there an option, easily switchable on/off (for example in the top panel with Wi-Fi, Location, Mute, Screen rotation icons, etc.?) to prevent the screen timeout?**
Note: I've seen a **"Smart stay"** feature ("screen stays on as long as you are looking at it") but this works by *"detecting your face with the front camera so that ..."*.
For both battery and personal reasons, I don't want the camera to be constantly on (watching me ;)) while I'm reading, so I don't want to use "Smart stay" feature.
Note: this [question](https://android.stackexchange.com/q/4595/58896) is linked, but it targets Android 2, and is rather old (7 years old), so things might have changed thanks to new Android versions.
