History - Sleep Stages used to work. It was visible under Samsung Health and Sleep As Android and My Air apps. I have S24 phone and Watch 6. Trigger - I moved from NZ to Australia a year ago. Samsung TV used to show Nz apps. I finally figured it was tied to the Country in the Samsung Account. Even though its counter-intuitive and idiotic for a TV to ignore its physical location. I changed the country in the Samsung Account. It warned me that all settings would be reset. I didnt expect the programmers to be that stupid, so I went ahead. It didnt just reset the setings, it also logged me out of all devices... joy. As I found out, the settings are a crazy mixture of app settings and account settings. In retrospect, I should have created a new account for the TV. Problem - I have been checking all settings and permissions for days, but I just cannot make sleep stages visible. Everything else is working. The watch is synced to the phone, How do I enable the **Sleep Stages** graph? This shows the stages such as deep or rem.

I am using Moto G72 which comes with Android 12. I was happy with Android 12. I am using the Greenify application to force stop unwanted applications. Whenever we click the icons of the unwanted applications, then only the applications wake up from sleep. Recently I got an Android 13 update. After updating, force stopped applications automatically wake up after a certain amount of time. I changed the battery usage of unwanted applications to Restricted. But no use. I can see the battery drain is more in Android 13 than 12.

I have tried different emulators on Windows (Leapdroid, Nox MEmu, among others), and none seem to have the ability to automatically timeout on idle and go to the lock screen like almost every device out there. (Manual is not a problem, I'm looking for on idle.) The screen never goes to sleep, and the screen never locks. In Android, I have tried: * Dev mod -> uncheck "stay awake" * Modifying the sleep settings * Modifying the lock settings * Daydream settings But can't get it to work in any of these emulators. I have looked for and tried different apps, but also can't get them to do ANYTHING with the screen. In order of preference: * time out with actual lock (need to enter the PIN) like a real device * time out sleep function that at least blanks the screen * Any sort of independent 'screen saver' workaround which at least blanks the screen somehow * Any sort of independent 'daydream'-style workaround But I can't find any app that does any of these or even works when it says it does with android emulators. Is there any way to have ANY timeout of the current screen state in ANY emulator?

When I am done with doing something on my Android phone, I put it asleep with the Power Button. I expect it to stay asleep until I press Power again, or perhaps until a phone call comes in. This is to minimize draining the battery. However, the phone wakes up when putting it away, e.g. in my trouser bag. After several seconds the screen goes dark again. But why? Is this a 'feature'? When walking in the dark, the phone backlight will shine through my clothes. Is it possible to turn this 'feature' off? I might be old fashioned, wanting to be in control in turning this thing on and off when I, the owner, want this. This behaviour happened with my previous phone, Motorola Moto, with android 11, and with my current Moto E32s with Android 12.

I'm using Android for a HMI touch screen that is embedded in an electrical cabinet. It runs a kiosk app with a web browser that connects to a web interface. The interface has buttons that does stuff. The screen is set to sleep after 2 minutes. And is awakened by touch. But I dont want the touch to activate any of the buttons in the interface, if the screen is sleeping. So the first touch only awakes the screen and doesnt register as input in the interface. Is there an app for this? That could extend/replace the built in screen saver.

When I restart my Samsung Galaxy S9, the screen timeout value changes to "**()**". Notice that's not a zero; it's two parentheses. That's literally what appears in the settings. However, the phone must **think** of it as a zero, because the screen goes dark immediately when I'm not touching it (and then I have to enter my password again). This setting change also happens if I have the Power Mode in "Maximum Power Saving" and I switch to a different Power Mode. I don't think it happens in Safe Mode. This started happening a few months ago. It also happened with my old Galaxy S7; my solution was to get the S9. (JK, I had other reasons too.) EDIT: Yes, Cody: I can set the timeout to any value, but when the phone restarts or comes out of "Maximum Power Saving", the timeout is reset to "**()**".

When I turn the screen off on an Android smartphone, I want battery life to be conserved. Thus, I don't want any third-party apps running in the background, and I don't want the device periodically turning on WiFi (or connecting via 2G/3G/4G/5G). I set up a test Android Samsung smartphone running Android Nougat, and installed just 25 popular apps. I set all 25 apps to "Always Sleeping" in Settings. I then let the device sit for 8 hours with the screen turned off. During those 8 hours, the Android device connected to a WiFi router 59 times and transmitted/received data each time. I don't want to turn on Airplane Mode, because I still want the device to be able to receive and log incoming phone calls. Is there a way to accomplish this with Android (on a non-rooted device)?

I have a Samsung S20FE (Android 11 + OneUI 3.1). I was learning about the different battery optimization settings. I think I have a good understanding of Android's Doze mode. Now, I've seen there is (under Battery → Background usage limits) something called "Deep Sleep". According to this question , it seems "Deep Sleep" is OEM specific, and is not found in every manufacturer's device. I noticed that an application that is already excluded from "Doze mode" (in other words, an application that is NOT optimized) can not be excluded from "deep sleep mode" (in other words, can not be added to the never-sleeping-apps list). Thus, I suppose an application goes first into "doze mode", and then into "deep sleep". Am I correct ? If yes, under what circumstances does an app go into Deep Sleep ? Could an app like Skype (that is natively allowed to wake up the phone even in Doze Mode, I believe) go into Deep Sleep if it isn't used for a while ? Does it make sense to add Skype to Deep Sleep's never-sleeping-apps list if I want it to be always responsive (i.e., I want to receive Skype calls even if I haven't used Skype for some time) ? Or is it unnecessary ?

By enabling the *Stay Awake* toggle under *Developer Options*, which are enabled, my previous phone kept the display on when it was connected via USB. This no longer works on my current phone, which runs Android 11. *Developer Options* are enabled and the *Stay Away* toggle is on (Under it says: *Screen will never sleep while charging*) and my *Screen Saver* is also set to *Off*. Despite these settings being enabled, the screen goes blank after a few minutes even when plugged in. There is another option, *Always On Display* which forces the screen to stay on at all times, even when not plugged-in, but that drains the battery very fast, so it is not practical. Since I use the phone as one would an alarm-clock, I would like it to keep showing its lock-screen which shows the current time whenever it is connected via its USB-C port. Is there a workaround to restoring the expected behavior?

I'm looking to disable Android's battery management. On my Samsung S10 Plus running Android version 11 are several apps running in the background, but they only run when the phone's USB port is connected to a charging source such as the mains adaptor or to my computer or when the screen is turned on regardless of being plugged in or running on the battery. The apps fall to sleep within a minute or two when the phone is running on the battery and the screen is turned off. All of these issues started after I upgraded to the current Android version on the S10+. Also this phone is not rooted. We also have older Samsung phones like the S9 and S8 running Android 10 without any app battery management issues. I have done the following: I wiped the cache partition. I have the "Adaptive battery" setting under "More battery settings" turned off. I have the "Put unused apps to sleep" setting under "Background usage limits" turned off. I have added the apps to "Never sleeping apps" screen's list under "Background usage limits" turned off. Despite doing all of the above, the current OS seems to be ignoring all of the settings I have set. Do any of you know of an app or any additional settings that will stop my apps from being put to sleep like that? This never happened when running Android version 9 and below. All help will be appreciated.

First of all I do not know the difference between "sleep mode" and "standby", so I am most likely using the wrong term in the following problem description: I build myself a little PWA that tracks my routes with OpenLayers. It works fine so far, but at some point the recording of a track is interrupted. I assume this is due to the automatic sleep mode, which "turns off" Chrome and probably therefore also "navigator.geolocation". Is there any chance to let my PWA and navigator.geolocation continue doing their work when Android is in sleep mode? And if so, is there any way to activate that setting via the PWA and without going into "Settings -> ... -> ..." (if that is at all an option)? Thank you! PS: The gis.stackexchange.com community recommended me to ask this question here. PPS: A "PWA" ("Progressive Web App"), in short, is nothing else but a web application that looks and behaves like a "real" app. Even though it is run in a browser (in my case I only focus on Chrome), it can be used offline via service workers, the UI does not show the browser's address bar and some things more. By using all the modern browser APIs it is possible to create an app without having to go through the app store (even though a PWA could be registered as an app in the app store, too).

However, if I enter a remote shell via adb and leave it alone, then the data does get backed up every 4 hours. How can I force the periodic backup without being permanently connected to a PC? (And why isn't it working as expected?) --- ### EDITS ### 1. @Irfan Latif's comment gave me the idea of trying a different interpreter (busybox ash - #!/system/xbin/sh), but the result was the same. I am using an EasyCAP Adapter via a LAVA SimulCharge adapter on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 to capture video from a car reverse camera. This is working fine except, when the LAVA adapter loses the power from the car (when the car is turned off). the EasyCAP adapter's green light keeps blinking, (usually it's solid green when connected) and the 'USB adapter connected' notification appears and disappears continuously in notification bar, and the tablet refuses to go into sleep mode for about 4 minutes. (Pressing the power button makes the screen turn off and back on again immediately) After 4 minutes, the EasyCAP light stops flashing and turns off, which lets the device go to sleep. The notification keeps firing, until the device is rebooted. I think this is due to EasyCAP adapter trying to connect again which wakes up the device? Is there a way to force the device to go to sleep? Connecting the EasyCAP over a standard OTG cable works fine, but I need the tablet to charge simultaneously as well. (switching the 'stay awake' option on and off in Developer Mode didn't help) **UPDATE** I noticed that if I set the lock-screen type to anything other than none (eg: swipe) and press the power button after power is disconnected, the adapter stops blinking and the device goes to sleep after screen timeout. **UPDATE 2** I have isolated the issue to the LAVA SimulCharge adapter. It seems like losing power at the other end causes this.. although disconnecting the wire for power at the adapter's end works fine. Would there be a physical sensor to detect if there's power?
