I wanted to give Firefox for Android a try (I'm a long-time Chrome user), but after installing it from the Play Store, I discovered it refuses to load any website, always showing this security warning that cannot be ignored:
This happens on all sites and only on Firefox for Android, the same sites load correctly in Chrome and also load correctly in Firefox running on a Windows computer that is on the same network as my Android device.
Any clues as to why this is happening? I'm running Firefox 105.1.0 on Android 12.

How to display and enable extra symbols on standard keyboard?
When switching from Huawei's Android 8.0 to Oppo's Android 12 I noticed a keyboard problem that I'm unable to solve. First, here is how the keyboard on Android 8.0 looked like: [![Android 8.0 keyboard on Huawei P10 Lite][1]][1] Then, here is how the keyboard on Android 12 looks like: [

However it's not just that the symbol isn't displayed, it's also not available on long-press of c.
So my simple question is:
*How can I get the "old layout" on my new phone?*

Any suggestions what to do?
P.S. Obviously pressing "**search on play**" gives nothing, as the app is not available for my account locale, so it is not offered in the search list.

I want to reinstall the OS on my OnePlus phone running Android 12. Before I do that I would like to backup some of my apps which don't store their data in the cloud. The phone is not rooted, so I have tried using Helium which is apparently dead, but I still tried it. While trying to enable it I found that my phone wasn't recognized by adb as a device, but this was fixed by adding the backup password , but the app just crashes when trying to backup briefly displaying this:
As you can see it also clicks on the "set password" option which just opens desktop. The funny thing is: I don't think I can disable the password now, so...
So after this didn't work I tried looking into backing up with ADB in PowerShell on my Windows 11 pc, but It seems to have issues with doing backups.
To list the files I just do:

adb shell pm list packages -f -3
Let's say that out of those I would like to backup this one:
package:/data/app/~~yCw1hZQNzK2LConsvhuejg==/com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD-pMe0TFd1aaE5-WduzwZ1Zw==/base.apk=com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD
It pulls the .apk
file no problem with this command:
adb pull "/data/app/~~yCw1hZQNzK2LConsvhuejg==/com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD-pMe0TFd1aaE5-WduzwZ1Zw==/base.apk" ".\BP.apk"
Although, a little suspicious that it is only 58MB when it should be more like 170.
But trying to make a backup with this line:
adb backup "/data/app/~~yCw1hZQNzK2LConsvhuejg==/com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD-pMe0TFd1aaE5-WduzwZ1Zw==/base.apk=com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD"
generates an empty backup.ab
file (literally 0B) even if I pass just com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD
as an argument.
I have also tried using the advice from this post and adding quotes around the arguments, so ideally it I want something like this since I need both an apk and data:
adb backup "-apk com.rovio.BadPiggiesHD -f C:\Users\name\Desktop\app_backups\
But this just spits out Now unlock your device and confirm the backup operation.
and stops instantly without doing anything.
I have even tried:
adb backup "-apk -shared -all -f C:\Users\name\Desktop\app_backups\full_backup.ab"
I don't need all apps, but this generates an empty file too.
What is the cause of this issue? I am at a loss since there are no error messages.

The command:
settings put global http_proxy ip : port
Affects all user profile.
Based on this answer looks like this proxy setting is stored at:
/data/system/users//settings_global.xml
I wonder if is possible somehow to specify the
http_proy
per user.
Something like:
user0 http_proxy ip1:port
user1 http_proxy ip2:port
user2 http_proxy ip3:port
etc
What I'm trying to achieve is find a way to have a same application running in different profiles to have different ip's.
user 0 apk "abc" ip 1
user 1 apk "abc" ip 2
user 2 apk "abc" ip 3
I'm using Android12, and I have root access.

I'm sorry for asking a questions that's been asked before, but I have read conflicting information, so I want to be absolutely sure about this before I proceed.
I am aiming to *ROOT* my Pixel 4a (5G) with Android 12.
Will flashing a boot image modified by Magisk wipe all my data? (I have installed Magisk Canary because of Android 12, correct?)
I have already unlocked my bootloader, and of course that wiped my data. I don't want to go through that again. I don't want to have to reconfigure my setup again. (Some apps didn't automatically install for some reason. A few more of them lost their configurations. And system settings...)
Anyway, can someone please give me an **authoritative** answer?
Many Thanks,
---Mark

I recently started using some old speakers, but they're too loud even at the minimum volume. The speaker wires are directly connected to a custom device that uses an amplifier chip and an ESP32 to connect to BT.
The device has no built-in control except for a simple volume booster, which does barely anything, and a bass booster (both are just on-off and not more).
So far, I tried disabling absolute volume, which worked - before it went back to normal the next day. Nothing changed in that time, no hardware nor software updates or changes. Restarting phone and speakers, re-pairing and reprogramming the ESP does nothing. The volume stays the same no matter if the option is enabled or not.
Disabling absolute volume does still work when I use my Nothing Ear's.
The volume can be set to a comfortable level if I connect via my Windows laptop instead of my phone.
Changing the EQ and/or manually dragging the volume slider down to the lowest possible setting instead of using the buttons works somewhat, however they are still too loud.
I tried installing some apps, most of which didn't work at all, except for wavelet, which again reduced volume but not enough. It also didn't seem to lower all frequencies, which made the sound worse.
Sound Assistant I heard about a few times, but it isn't compatible with my phone for whatever reason.
Does anyone know any other solution (software based much preferred) to reduce overall volume or fix the absolute volume setting, or any ideas as to why it just stopped working?
- Phone: Galaxy M31s (Android 12)
- ESP32 with A2DP for BT
- STA339BWS13TR amplifier chip
- 2 random 20+ year old 6 Ohm Philips speakers I found in the basement

I integrated my SD card to use as phone memory. Everything was fine until a couple of days ago.
All of a sudden I saw the "insert SD card" notice appear on the notification bar. I open the back cover but the SD card looked like it was in place. I remove it and insert it back and then I formatted it as external then the notice disappears. But then I notice that when I go to file explorer (FX) to access my files, it doesn't show anything like the internal storage doesn't exist, crashes my settings when I click storage. I can't access anything that is on my phone memory, although the apps are working. I guess system files are okay.
My device is not rooted and it seems the only thing I can do now is to format my phone..I don't want to go that route please.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro running Android 12. In previous versions of Android (not sure which ones), unless you disabled it, taking a screenshot would create a notification that persists in the notification bar until you dismiss it.
In Android 12 there is now just a temporary dialog that floats at the bottom of the screen. If I don't react to it before it disappears, I have to navigate to my screenshots folder in Photos which takes a few seconds and is annoying.
I'd prefer the older behavior where a notification is created, is it possible to restore this in Android 12?

Wikipedia [has](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_12#Android_12.1/12L) :
> ## Android 12.1/12L
> In October 2021, Google announced Android 12L, an interim release of Android 12 including improvements specific for foldable phones, tablets, desktop-sized screens and Chromebooks, and modifications to the user interface to tailor it to larger screens. It was planned to launch in early 2022. Developer Preview 1 of Android 12L was released in October 2021, followed by Beta 1 in December 2021, Beta 2 in January 2022, and Beta 3 in February 2022. The stable version of Android 12L was released for devices with large screens on March 7, 2022, and was released as "Android 12.1" for Pixel smartphones on the same date, besides the Pixel 6 & Pixel 6 Pro.
I've been gathering some statistics on the decline in use of older Android versions over time, using [Statcounter Global Stats](https://gs.statcounter.com/android-version-market-share/mobile-tablet/worldwide) . You can get a lot more information than the line charts without a Premium account, by downloading the
.csv
files and doing a bit of spreadsheet processing on them.
The surprising thing is that none of the stats show me any presence of Android 12.1, which is supposed to be the version number of 12L. I can see small numbers of Android 12.2, and plenty of 12.0, but no 12.1, 12.3 or higher. Statcounter gets its information from the browser user-agent strings. From their FAQ:
> Statcounter is a web analytics service. Our tracking code is installed on more than 1.5 million sites globally. These sites cover various activities and geographic locations. Every month, we record billions of page views to these sites. For each page view, we analyse the browser/operating system/screen resolution used and we establish if the page view is from a mobile device.
The least-used versions from the July 2024 stats are:
4.4 KitKat 0.17%
24.6 0.06%
4.1 Jelly Bean 0.06%
4.3 Jelly Bean 0.03%
2.2 Froyo 0.02%
12.2 0.02%
15 0.01%
4.2 Jelly Bean 0.01%
4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich 0.01%
Other 0.05%
Possible explanations include:
* 12L gets reported as 12.2.
* 12L is so little used that it's lost in rounding to the nearest 0.1% and "12.2" is something else. There doesn't seem to have been a CynogenMod 12.1.
I'd also be interested to know what "24.6" might be, but that's not the point of this question.

How can I fix the thumbnails of my edited photos?
