Pixel phones (both older Qualcomm and newer Google Tensor) are known for very good camera algorithm. What I have heard the camera chipset (hardware) is similar to other phones, but the algorithm is what makes quite significant difference.
Which part of the software stack is doing that algorithms? Is it only [Pixel Camera app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.GoogleCamera) or is there some other firmware? I'm asking if I reinstall stock Android with [LineageOS](https://lineageos.org/) whether I loose this functionality.
Also, I suppose Pixel Camera app is installable on LineageOS.
I'm asking specifically about Google Pixel 5 (redfin) and 6 (oriole), but it can be considered as a general question about all Pixel phones.
I also suppose this is the only functionality I could use when migrating to LineageOS (I've had good experience with LineageOS support on other phones).

This is a very poorly-defined question, because I can't figure out what causes this issue (and cannot easily reproduce it). But on occasion (and not rarely), when I pull my Google Pixel 6 phone out of my pocket, the flashlight is on, Bluetooth has been turned off, and when I unlock the phone I am looking at the emergency call screen. I believe that the DND and bedroom settings get modified sometimes as well.
I haven't been able to find anything like this on the web. Any ideas? (Android 13)

How do I re-flash both partitions of a Google Pixel 6 Pro device in one go?
If I follow the instructions at https://developers.google.com/android/images , I have to:
1. re-flash the first, default partition (a or b) using flash-all.bat
2. return to the bootloader (which means either (A) turning the device off after it automatically reboots and booting back into the bootloader using the hardware buttons or (B) doing a "false setup" of the device (after it automatically reboots) and returning to the bootloader via Android's Developer Options screen and the
adb reboot bootloader
command
3. set the inactive partition to the active partition using fastboot set_active a
or fastboot set_active b
4. re-flash the second, remaining partition using flash-all.bat
Is there a way to combine these re-flashing steps to make re-flashing both partitions less troublesome?
(Note: My goal with re-flashing both partitions instead of one is to eliminate malware, so simply nuking and regenerating both partitions from scratch would also be a workable solution, but I don't know how to do that either.)

* _Advanced Root Checker_ becomes _Advanced Root ..._
* _Air Raid Alert Map of Ukraine_ becomes _Air Raid Alert..._ (a web page shortcut added to the home screen from Firefox)
Some answers recommend absolutely a [useless way](https://support.google.com/pixelphone/thread/3127997?hl=en&msgid=3129330) to fix it: changing the default system-wide font size should not be used to configure the apps in general (I mean, why would changing the font size affect behavior of a particular launcher?) + increasing/decreasing the font size doesn't disable label trimming.
I'm looking for a way to either make it allow wider text labels or render the text labels at least in two rows. Any real solution would be appreciated: a Pixel Launcher fork, a module for Magisk/LSPosed/XPL-EX, whatever.

Occasionally when I'm out for a walk I take my phone out of my pocket to look something up. As soon as I touch my finger to the fingerprint icon, the screen goes black. It'll stay black for several minutes, though the phone vibrates when I touch the screen. This happens maybe 10% of the time.
It only happens when I'm out walking. I had considered it may be related to the sun, but it never happens on the back porch. Perhaps it has something to do with being out of wifi range, but I don't think it's happened when I've been traveling (though I walk more than I travel so there is some sampling bias). The phone doesn't come back to life immediately when I get home. It takes a few minutes.
Once it's gone black, pressing the power button does not energize the screen.
There are errors in logcat, but they seem identical between the successful unlocks and the black screen unlocks.
UPDATE: I was able to rewind in my podcast by tapping at the screen. So it seems the screen unlocks but is black.

I have a Pixel 6 Pro running Android 12. In previous versions of Android (not sure which ones), unless you disabled it, taking a screenshot would create a notification that persists in the notification bar until you dismiss it.
In Android 12 there is now just a temporary dialog that floats at the bottom of the screen. If I don't react to it before it disappears, I have to navigate to my screenshots folder in Photos which takes a few seconds and is annoying.
I'd prefer the older behavior where a notification is created, is it possible to restore this in Android 12?

My wife's Pixel 6a battery died during use and when I charged it and restarted it, it is stuck in a bootloop. I have the option for a factory reset which I assume will work, but I have photos that aren't backed up that I'd really like to get off of it.
Safe mode doesn't seem to work, unless I'm doing it wrong.
I can get into the bootloader and it connects to my Windows PC, but it says there are no drivers for the Pixel in the device manager.
I can also get into recovery mode. I am not very familiar with recovery mode, and not all options are working. Here's a summary of options:
1) Reboot to system now
2) Reboot to bootloader
3) Enter fastboot
4) Apply update from ADB (I have read a little about this but haven't tried anything. It seems to work and the phone shows up as a universal serial bus device in the device manager. I've got my main hope in a tutorial here)
5) Apply update from SD card (the phone doesn't have an SD slot, it says installation aborted)
6) Wipe data/factory reset (trying to avoid it until pictures are recovered)
7) Mount system (doesn't work and gives and error)
ERROR: recovery: [libfs_mgr] Unable to enable ext4 verity on /dev/block/platform/14700000.ufs/by-name/metadata because /system/bin/tune2fs is missing
Mounted /system.
ERROR: recovery: [libfs+mgr] Unknown volume for path [/sdcard]
ERROR: recovery: -- Couldn't mount /sdcard.
8) View recovery logs (seems to work. Gives 29232 bytes of logs)
9) Run graphics test (doesn't work. It says installing system update, then error, then installing system update again, then it aborts the update)
10) Run locale test (seems to work)
11) Power off
If anyone has any ideas or can point me in the right direction, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

This is question is basically an acknowledgement that I'm very f-ing lazy.
First, I'm on a Pixel 6 Pro running stock A13, rooted and filled with Magisk modules.
I needed to find a way to guarantee I'll wake up, so I tried [Alarmy](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=droom.sleepIfUCan) (I just noticed the apk id is droom.**sleepIfUCan**, haha), which has a really cool feature of posing a few physical and/or mental challenges to stop the alarm from ringing.
But well, the very first day I tried it (with no real need to wake up at the time I set), I didn't feel like waking up, as I had nothing scheduled, so I simply turned my phone off (I'm not sure, but I think Alarmy blocked my screen and stopped me from pulling the dropdown menu or switching to other apps, so I used the Power+Vol Up menu) and found an easy way to beat the purpose.
I'm wondering if I can somehow I can circumvent this:
- Perhaps Tasker could block and unblock Shutdown using Alarmy's actions as triggers;
- Another approach would be to somehow block it via terminal/Termux. The only times I ever need to turn my phone off is during chess tournaments, so I wouldn't mind having to enable Shutdown again and disable it afterwards;
- Maybe this can be done with a Magisk module;
- Or, my last guess, maybe I'll need a custom ROM for that.
And of course, perhaps this is not possible at all. Is it?

I’m experiencing a major issue with my Pixel 6, since yesterday morning. The phone keeps restarting on its own and gets very hot. After a restart, it works fine for about a minute, then it becomes extremely laggy, freezes, and restarts again. Additionally, the battery seems to drain very quickly.
Here are some specific details:
Model: Pixel 6
Android Version: 14
Build-No: AP2A.240605.024
- Booting into recovery mode (the problem does not occur in this mode)
- I suspect that there might be one or more apps causing the system to crash and overheat. However, I am unable to check for software updates or properly manage apps because when I try to open the app list, it loads indefinitely and then Android crashes anyway.
How can I identify and remove apps that might be demanding too much performance and causing these issues within a short time frame after booting? Any insights or suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Just bought a Pixel 6 Pro 2d ago; updated to Android 14.
Started installing (same apps as on old phone).
The banking app forbids me to use fingerprint as it insists my phone is rooted.
Never have done rooting, my other bank app doesn't warn about anything, neither does Google Pay or any google security check.
Tried to check About Phone, according to alphr ,but I can't find any place that tells whether I have official or non official version -- there is simply no such section.
Seems suspicious. Here's the screenshot of my About Phone:
should it have any other section saying whether it's official Android or not?
There is no dev options in Options either, and searching for them yields nothing.
Thanks in advance!

I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing while using Messages for Web and instead of typing in a new message to my wife, I did _something_ to cause our whole 5 year long conversation thread to disappear. (I say 'disappear' than 'deleted' for reasons I'll describe below.)
Since I was on Messages for Web, I quickly hopped on my phone. Nope, gone there too. I checked the Archive. Not there. So I started Googling. Most sites said that if texts are deleted, then they're gone for good, but I did find this that says to use the app _SMS Backup and Restore_ to check if the messages are truly gone.
So I download the app and lo and behold, the entire conversation is there! I successfully create a backup of the entire conversation! I can see the messages in the xml file that is generated and I have it stored in triplicate on my phone, my Google Drive, and my desktop.
The problem now lies in restoring the messages. When I try to use _SMS Backup and Restore_'s restore feature, it runs, but at conclusion says that all ~30000 items are duplicates and that nothing was restored.
This leads to my question: How can I restore these messages - either using _SMS Back and Restore_, or by some other method, since they clearly still exist on the phone in some unknown location.

I am running Android 13 using a Google Pixel phone. I believe that Google uses Google Password Manager to save the passkeys. But, I am not sure how to correct this. I have tried to sign in to another phone with the same account, but this keeps on happening.

This question has already been asked several times in 2018 and 2020, but all the answers are outdated.
I want my vertically scrolling recent apps switcher back. It is so much better than the native horizontal switching: you can see 5 apps at the time and it scrolls smoothly; if the app is a bit further away switching can be literally 10x as fast.
I can't get it to work with Nova Launcher, and the Good Lock solution is only for Galaxy phones.
Who can help me? 🙏
