It's similar enough to the International Phonetic Notation that Gboard's IPA layout can type all the characters I need *except* barred lambda. Is there some way to add a bar or strike through to a character within Gboard? It would be very convenient not to have to switch to a separate app to write these languages.

The problem is that the spell check does not work: if I type in the Gmail app "hellowx" (for example), it isn't marked with red underlines. What I've tried so far: - clear Gboard cache - clear Gboard storage - force stop Gboard - restart the smartphone No effect: if I type in the Gmail app "hellowx" (for example), it isn't marked with red underlines. Any ideas why the spell check doesn't work? How to fix it? --- UPD: It works in Gmail in "Subject" input field. It does not work in Gmail in "Compose email" field: enter image description here Very unexpected. Is it a bug in Gmail? --- UPD2. In the newest versions of Android, you can click and hold a suggested predictive/autocorrected word, and drag it into a bin (title "remove") to prevent it from being suggested again. I accidentally deleted the word "I", so now when I type "i" it doesn't automatically autocorrect to "I". Two related questions: 1. I tried shaking my phone to undo the accidental word removal (like I would undo things on an iPhone), but it didn't do anything. Is there a way I could've undone my action immediately after it happened? 2. Now that it's a few days after the face, how to do I add "I" back to the suggested words without having to completely erase all the things my keyboard has learned about my typing habits?

I recently acquired a Motorola Moto G34 with Android 14 installed. The keyboard is Gboard, without any add-ons or extra languages. As I type, on any application, the keyboard keeps modifying the words, especially capitalising the first character and changing singular to plural, but also adds strange accents, sometimes just replacing the word for another. In the Settings menu, all I can find is the spell checker, which is switched off. In any case, whatever the keyboard software is doing, it certainly isn't spell-checking. I suspect it is some kind of "AI" meant to help, that does anything but. How can I stop Gboard from changing the text I type?

I’m struggling to find a keyboard app for Android that offers smart punctuation features similar to those available on iOS. Specifically, I’m looking for a keyboard that can automatically use curly quotes (‘’ “”) and other smart punctuation marks. I’ve tried several keyboard apps including Gboard, SwiftKey, and Fleksy, but I haven’t been able to find the exact feature I’m looking for. Does anyone know of an Android keyboard that supports smart punctuation in the way iOS does? Alternatively, is there a way to enable this feature in any of the major keyboard apps through settings or additional tools? Any suggestions or solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Is there a fast way to write Pinyin on Gboard, which makes the diverse spelling rules and rules for the tone mark and apostrophes user-friendly through suggestions on top of the keyboard as we are used for other language systems? I know of course Pinyin is almost never written out unless for educational purposes - and these are exactly those I opt for. Maybe there's a downloadable in-app feature or any other add-on I don't know. But currently, I have to insert everything character by character and fiddle with the right tone marks by pressing a character long and choosing between the options which pop up - which is not a solution in the long run. Since I have seen Chinese people write Pinyin fast, I'm pretty sure such a feature exists on Chinese phones, but I want it on my phone as well.

I am using Gboard to translate text from English to other languages. Some languages can be written in more than one script. I was wondering whether it would be possible to select Bosnian in Cyrillic rather than Latin script as my translation output, or pinyin instead of hanzi as the output text for Chinese. The same goes for other languages that can have more than one destination translation output script. Is this possible with Gboard (and, in general, also with Google Translate)? How can I achieve this behavior?

Here's a sample screencap of the keyboard in use: enter image description here Now, I don't speak Hebrew, and I'm new to Gboard, but am I correct in that this letter isn't present? It's preventing me from typing many common Hebrew words, so I'm guessing I'm missing something. Is it there but in a font or style I'm just not seeing?

I moved from my Redmi to Mi Mix 2 now and used the Mi Mover app but unfortunately, the words in my used keyboard Gboard weren't restored. Neither does the internal synchronization work, it says something like "sync is not available for devices with G suite accounts or Android for work profile". Couldn't yet find a working solution for this issue, so I'm thinking about re-adding all words but don't want to do this one by one. I have a wordlist as a text file that would cover at least 80% of my custom words. Any way of adding this at once to Gboard dictionary? Apart from Gboard dictionary, there seems to be a common Central Android custom word dictionary. Is Gboard also considering words from there? In case it is, maybe there's some API/interface to this Central place so I could add those words at least there, so they could be used by Gboard (and also by other keyboard apps should I ever decide to switch). I don't mind which way to go in case at least one of both could be achieved.
