I installed Lineage OS 16.0 on my Moto x4 using TWRP. I reboot and installed GApps. While installing there were no errors. But then after restart the Phone it stays in start sequence and after ca. 10 min it goes back to TWRP. When I only install Lineage OS it works fine, but without GApps. So I tried a few variations of combine these versions: TWRP: twrp-3.3.1-0-payton, twrp-3.3.0-1-payton Lineage OS: lineage-16.0-20200219-nightly-payton-signed, lineage-16.0-20200223-nightly-payton-signed GApps: open_gapps-arm64-9.0-pico-2020019, open_gapps-arm64-9.0-pico-2020028, open_gapps-arm64-9.0-pico-20191017 Can you please help me? Did someone know what I am missing or doing wrong? Edit: I found that I start in Slot A and installed Lineage there, but after reboot I am in Slot B but installing GApps works without shown error beside that main problem. When I go back to slot A and install GApps there it breaks with error code 64.

I am trying to install Lineage OS 16.0 on my Moto 4X. I unlocked the OEM bootloader. But when I enter the command 'fastboot reboot bootloader' it shows ''. There it stays until I break. The next day it suddenly worked and I booted TWRP, install Lineage OS, G-Apps 9.0 micro and started the phone following the instructions at https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/payton/install . Lineage seem to work fine, but the G-Apps are nowhere to be found. I remember during the installation there was an error like 'can't access date/media., such a Directory does not exist' but it worked, or I thought that it did. I wanted to reinstall it all. Now I have the same problem again. C:\adb>adb devices List of devices attached ZY224KGGGC device C:\adb>fastboot reboot bootloader USB debugging is enabled, the drivers on the PC are the newest from the Motorola website. I used every USB port on my PC. I tried my PC and two other laptops, all Windows 10. Also I tried CMD, Powershell, and GIT-Bash for the commands. It’s always the same response. So I don't know what to do right now. Does someone know where that problem came from?

Yesterday, I rooted my Nook Simple Touch with NookManager after updating to firmware 1.2.2. However, after rooting the Nook, I can't install the NTGAppsAttack.zip file on my Nook. According to [this XDA post](https://xdaforums.com/t/app-nst-nstg-1-2-x-ntgappsattack-google-apps-installer-addon-for-nookmanager.2086582/) , it says that it will only install on firmware versions 1.20 or 1.2.1. And after putting the NTGAppsAttack.zip file on my NookManager SD card, the "Custom" option does not show in the NookManager extras menu. Is there an updated version of NTGAppsAttack available for firmware 1.2.2? UPDATE: I got the GApps installed on my Nook.

How can I install NikGApps on a fully unlocked Android 12 system without being refused by signature verification?

I have an Android 12 installation loaded onto an ARM SoC "super" SBC (Firefly ITX-3588J) and want to try and get Google Play working on it, as the stock A12 image does not come with it. Because this is a full computer system and not a smartphone, I both have full access to the memory, bootloader, root, etc. yet also, pretty much all instructions I've found online for installing things like that seem to presume a smartphone with varying degrees of restriction. My best approach so far has been to get the package "NikGApps" (), instead of Open GApps, because the latter does not currently support Android 12, but the former does. However, I have no idea how to load the package into the system. Looking it up, most people on smartphones seem to do this using something called TWRP, but TWRP apparently _does not support Android 12_. Yet obviously the author of that package somehow intended for it to be installed on Android 12, but the instructions they provide for doing that are _extremely_ terse and simply say "flash" it to the board with no details of _how_ you do that. Further digging _seems_ to suggest the answer is to use `adb sideload after booting to the stock (i.e. not TWRP) recovery mode, however the problem here is that when I do that I get an E:Signature verification failed` error and the system refuses to complete the installation (at somewhere between 40% and 50%, I believe 47%). Presumably, and from what I can gather online, this is a problem relating to the fact it is not some officially "blessed" package for the Android system (i.e. it has to be signed and OKed by some "trustworthy" source). And so my question is, is there some way around that? How can I install this package successfully and correctly?

The following message appears: > Unable to login. There was a problem communicating with Google servers. Please try again later I tried several things to solve the problem, but nothing works: - I tried to solve by manipulating the HOSTS file from the /etc folder. - I tried downloading the new version of WebView implementation, in developer mode. - Tried flashing LineageOS, starting the system, and then installing Gapps. However, nothing solves it. I'm believing that it is a problem in this version of the unofficial LineageOS 16. Anyone can help me, please?

Gapps stuck at "Mounting partitions" while installing via TWRP
I'm trying to install LineageOS on my Moto E4. I've been able to successfully sideload the custom ROM and boot into Lineage, but I can't install Gapps. Specifically, after sideloading LOS, I sideload the Gapps ROM. It gets to the message "Mounting partitions" and hangs there.

I was wondering why smartphone vendors like OnePlus, Samsung etc ship with lot of unnecessary gapps The user should have the independence or liberty to pick them on their own instead of getting forced and bloating the device with unwanted stuff Like I understand PlayStore is important but for others we have alternatives. For example. 1) Google Maps alternative MapMyIndia, Apple Maps 2) Google Drive alternative Dropbox, Proton Drive etc 3) YouTube: Not everyone wants it 4) Play Games: Who needs it. When you can login with Facebook, Twitter or something else? Actually even Playstore have alternatives like Aptoide and not everyone needs it

TWRP crashes when trying to wipe/install anything on Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus(a6020a46) and reboots to system

I rooted my Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, installed Magisk,Arrow OS ver 10 , opengapps pico and it was all going very well until I applied the recent update of Arrow OS with 5 Mar 2021 patch. I downloaded the zip, booted to TWRP, selected Install and pointed to the ZIP file. Then I booted to system without clearing Dalvik/Cache. Then the problems started. I would download files from the internet and brave would say download failed while the file would be present. However checksums wouldn't match when I checked in my pc. The default Files app wouldn't be able to delete files. However the rest of the system was fully functional, network stuff, bluetooth browsing everything worked. Another strange issue was that no matter what system sounds wouldn't just work. Alarms, timers included. However going to youtube.com on brave would play audio just fine. My music app also worked perfectly. All notification sounds were set at maximum. I first noticed this issue when trying to use Vanced Youtube which would crash whenever I tried to play a video. Then today, I booted to TWRP, wiped all data and formatted storage. I then flashed ArrowOS latest version again, wiped Dalvik and booted to system, it started up normally and worked fine. So I decided to install Magisk(obviously) and booted into TWRP. When I tried it to install it though, TWRP crashed(I think) and booted to system. I tried it a few times and it happened every time. No errors were shown. Thinking it was an issue with ArrowOS, I booted into recovery and selected wipe but TWRP again crashed and booted to system. So I decided to repair the filesystems. I booted into TWRP, selected Wipe then Advanced Wipe. I selected System and then Repair filesystem. I got an error. /sbin/e2fsck -fp /dev/block/mmcblk0p23 process ended with error: 1 Unable to repair System But when I tried with the Data partition, it worked fine. I then rebooted to recovery and tried to repair the system partition again and this time I got no error(strange since I did literally nothing different) So anyways, I decided that ArrowOS was the culprit and I should switch to a different ROM, so I downloaded AOSP Extended , formatted everything on my phone from TWRP. Then I installed Magisk (on a previous phone this had helped a lot, ie: installing Magisk before installing LineageOS, the custom ROM). It completed properly. I then rebooted to recovery, transferred the ZIP of AEX(hash verified btw) and installed it. It completed without any errors. I wiped Dalvik and booted to system. The Magisk Manager is not present in the app menu. I need Gapps so I transferred the OpenGapps zip to my phone from my PC(pico for android 10 ) and tried to install it from TWRP. TWRP crashed and booted into system. OpenGapps are not present, magisk manager is not present and TWRP won't install anything, it will just crash and reboot to system. I want to know if there are any software fixes I could try to apply before assuming that it is indeed a corrupted storage, the phone is about 5 years old at this point. I think that's what it may be but I want to be sure and would appreciate your views and suggestions. What I have found scourging online - This thread which I couldn't make any sense of. This thread . I tried the fix, it gave no error but it isn't working for me either. This thread but my device is not covered. Any and all help is appreciated since this in my only working phone.

I am running [LineageOS 16](https://download.lineageos.org/santoni) on a Redmi 4X device. I tried installing the relevant [opengapps pico version](https://opengapps.org/) selecting ARM64 and Android 9. I booted to TWRP, selected install and clicked on the opengapps zip file. It installed successfully with absolutely NO error code whatsoever. I then cleared Dalvik/cache(TWRP menu after installing opengapps) and rebooted to system. I ran through setup and it all finished smoothly. I can install apps from the play store and all services too are working. However this keeps happening and android says that setup keeps crashing. However this keeps happening and android says that setup keeps crashing. I then redownloaded the opengapps zip again, rebooted to TWRP and installed it again. There was no error message. This time I booted to system without clearing Dalvik/Cache. I ran through setup again. Everything happened properly, all my google stuff is working but again this setup screen keeps reappearing and Android keeps saying that setup keeps crashing. crashes right after this screen when i click not now It crashes right after this screen when I click not now. Image Even now this notification is always present in the notification bar. All my google apps are working but this is still in the notification bar!! Surprisingly all my google apps are still working perfectly including play store, gmail, classroom. I can also call, get messages and do everything else a phone is supposed to do. [This thread](https://amp.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/dh8co0/lineageos_16_for_redmi_4x_santoni_got_rescueparty/) talks about bootloop which is definitely NOT my issue. I didn't find any other thread related to santoni+lineageos16. [This](https://android.stackexchange.com/a/234157/342189) is how I went about rooting my device. I don't know how to obtain android system logs/logs relevant to opengapps so I am unable to post any of them. I will really appreciate any help I get since this is becoming quite annoying.

Does an appstore like F-Droid offer the same variety as the Google Play Store? What if I need a Google app(like the appstore, maps, google app etc.) later on, do I need to do any "Flashing" to separately install them?
Will it be better to use a custom ROM version with Gapps or try to live without Google first?
I did try searching around online but there seems to be nothing substantial. Please provide your valuable suggestion on how I can improve my questions here since I am still very new to Android-rooting as well as Stack Exchange.

I purchased a new Motorola Moto G6 with the intention to try out using LineageOS instead of the stock rom. Here's everything that used to appear in the About section of the Settings. Keep in mind I selected Portuguese so I'll be translating some labels: > Software channel: retin > > Android version: 8.0.0 > > Android security patch level: 2018-04-01 > > Base band version: M450_03.08.10.51R ALI_INDIADSDS_CUST > > Kernel version: 3.18.71-perf-ga4749e5 > > hudsoncm@ilclbld32 #1 > > Fri Mar 30 11:53:22 CDT 2018 > > Version number: OPS27.82-45 This is my first time messing with phones like this. I am a Computer Engineer, though. I started following the instructions here . I enabled developer options in the settings, enabled USB debugging and allowed OEM unlocking. Then I unlocked the bootloader. I'm using ADB and Fastboot that came with Android Studio. I ran fastboot oem get_unlock_data, got the code, inserted in on the Motorola website, got the email with the unlock key and unlocked it with fastboot oem unlock UNIQUE_KEY. Then I installed TWRP 3.3.1-0. No problems there. Then I had to search for the link to download LineageOS and GApps because it looked like the steps I was following were incomplete. I downloaded LineageOS from here and GApps from here . For the latter, I chose ARM64, Android 10.0 and full. I transfered them to the internal storage using Android Studio Device File Explorer. Then I followed the YouTube video from the first link. I had trouble wiping because of encryption, so it seems. I followed this to proceed. Using a pass or a pin didn't work. The next solution, Repair File System, was unavailable. I could only see Change File System. Then I formatted /data to EXT2 then back to EXT4 and it worked. Then I tried to flash LineageOS. I got error 255. I looked here . Apparently, I should have used a 64 bit TWRP. I found one here and flashed it. Then I was able to flash both LineageOS and GApps. No error messages here. Then I rebooted without installing the TWRP app. I got the following:
Start Up Failed:

Your device didn't start up successfully.
Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer
to repair your device.
Connect you device to your computer to get
the Software Repair Assistant.

AP Fastboot Flash Mode (Secure)
Error: failed to load kernel!
Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from normal boot mode
USB connected
I searched and didn't find much. I looked for the Software Repair Assistant but it seems it's only good to reinstall the stock ROM. I still want to install LineageOS, though. I found some results about flashing boot.img and some other stuff, but I'm too afraid to hard brick my phone to follow any instructions that haven't been written specifically for my situation. I still can access TWRP. I wiped and installed again to double check that there wasn't any error messages during flashing and then again to try installing the TWRP app, but the prompt for that didn't show up. Please advise on what to do to complete installing LineageOS on my Moto G6. Thanks in advance. **Update 2020-12-15:** It seems that the tutorial I followed has been updated. Now there are no steps missing. I'll try again using the files provided there. **Update 2020-12-16:** I'm currently trying to flash stock ROM in order to follow the latest instructions. I'm using Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant but it's been on Wait for matching firmware, don't unplug your device for quite a while now. In the meanwhile, I'm downloading a stock ROM that more closely matches my device. I found out about the command fastboot getvar all so I'll post the output here:

I thought I had 1925-3 but it's a XT1925-13... Explains why I received a charger with India standard pins in Brazil... At least it came with an adapter. Later today, the Lenovo tool worked (I closed it, opened it again and followed the instructions to the letter). I got the screenshot from Magisk Manager as requested. MagiskManager

I am trying to work out whether it would be possible to use a custom rom such as LineageOS without flashing Gapps rather than using the LineageOS+MicroG as an option. The basic requirement is to be able move away from the Big Brother. I have read that LineageOS+MicroG option is a good one but it creates security risks because of the need to do signature spoofing. I am just a newbie here and wondering whether it would be possible to install a downloaded apk directly on LineageOS? If yes, would like to find more details on this process. If no, are there any solutions to this problem or we just have to put up with the Big Brother until Linux phones make inroads into this space? Many thanks EDIT: Thanks for all those who provided valuable comments/suggestions. I decided to try out LineageOS for MicroG and found it quite a painless process. The phone works great without the Big Brother tracking me. I also run DNS66 (from F-Droid Store) which stops ads on some apps. Overall, pretty much impressed with the outcome. Thanks again.

i try to get gapps working on my avd. I already use a google api image, but anyway the store is missing. Every tutorial tells me to push open gapps via adb: https://medium.com/@dai_shi/installing-google-play-services-on-an-android-studio-emulator-fffceb2c28a1 But i have the problem, that system is not writable. I already tried various solutions like this one: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/162902/adb-push-not-working-on-system-read-only Finally i think this can be the solution: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49426174/cannot-push-to-android-emulator-because-of-read-only-file-system/49427040 But my problem now is, that the emulator only shows a black screen when i use the -writable-system option. Otherwise it starts fine. Can someone help me to get the store apk installed on my virtual device?
