Having an issue with the work profile, created through MobileIron Go.
After deregistering the device, tI ried removing the work profile. On selecting "Delete" on the prompt, the profile got deleted from Accounts. But reinstalling MobileIron Go is not allowing reconfiguration:
The message I am seeing is:
> You have set up a work profile. To continue using MobileIron Go, please use the badged version of the application
Is there any way to remove work profile leftovers without resetting the mobile or removing the cache from the recovery console?

To access corporate applications, I requested my company's system administrator to grant me access. They instructed me to install certain security apps (such as "CA Mobile"), install security certificates, and complete a profile installation process on my device. After following these steps, I gained access to all corporate applications, and a "work profile" was created on my device.
Now, I no longer require corporate access and wish to completely remove this "work profile"
and all associated administrator permissions from my device. Currently, some device options remain "Disabled by admin"
indicating residual administrator control.
I already attempted to uninstall the security apps I initially installed, but the work profile remains, and administrative restrictions are still active on my device.
I do not wish to perform a factory reset since I have many personal apps and data on the device. My goal is simply to:
1. Completely remove the work profile.
2. Eliminate any remaining administrator permissions.
3. Restore full control over my device settings without any restrictions.
If necessary, I’m open to using utilities, ADB commands, or other recommended tools.
Could you please guide me on - what could be done here?

I have an issue where this alleged waterproof phone's power button starts malfunctioning when in contact with the slightest hint of moisture. This is a horrible in combination with the fact that Samsung XCover 5 will start calling an emergency hotline if power button is pressed 5 times in a row. This feature cannot be disabled or mapped to different key. Really stupid decision if you ask me.
With my broken phone trying to call ambulance multiple times a day, sometimes even at night, I have been removing its battery a lot. Today after a few restarts I got a notification saying I need to enter phone password to login to my work profile (Gmail, calendar etc). I entered it, presumably wrong, and the login window said to try again in 24 hours. This was my first attempt in that window. When I locked the screen I found out this timer applies to lock screen as well.
I need the phone tomorrow. I have access to the Google account the phone is associated it. Is there anything I can do to remove the timeout?

How to completely remove/turn off the work profile?
---------------------------------------------------
It splits apps in the app drawer, and some apps and settings have split options.
It's unnecessary, wastes resources and it's downright annoying that there is no obvious switch to just turn it on/off. (at least I couldn't find one)
**Versions:**
- Android 14
- One UI 6.1

My Samsung Galaxy S10 with Android 11 doesn't have Settings > Accounts. The closest I can find is Settings > Accounts and backup > Manage accounts. But then when I click on the Work profile, select an account, and click Remove account. I get "This change isn't allowed by your admin." What do I need to do to remove the Work profile from my personal phone?

Where can I find a table that compares what information is and is-not accessible from an Android app with various isolation methods?
I need to install a piece of malware on my Android device. This is definitely a very dangerous app that was designed by someone powerful, malicious, and actively trying to attack me. I don't want them to learn anything about my device, and I definitely don't want their app to see any data on my device or be able to interact with other apps or files on the device (even with an accidental tap caused by me clicking something after the app spawned maliciously-timed INTENT).
On desktop, I use QubesOS. So I have no issue running and playing with malware. I just fire-up a new DispVM, and I'm very confident that it's isolated. Android, however, leaks so much info to apps that I'm not sure how best to go about this.
I've considered a few isolation methods:
1. Do nothing (default app "sandboxing"),
1. Install in a Work Profile (eg [Insular](https://f-droid.org/packages/com.oasisfeng.island.fdroid/)) ,
1. Install in a new User Profile,
1. Buy (and install it on) a second phone, or
1. Something even better?
Is there any table that lists all of the data that is made available to apps that are compartimienalized with each of these methods?

As the title says, I'm looking for a way to set up the built-in VPN client to work with the work profile (under Shelter/Island). There's no separate Settings app in the work profile to allow that, or an option to specify the profile when adding a VPN configuration in the main settings app. Most online references to VPNs in the work profile mention third-party clients; however I need to connect to an L2TP/IPsec VPN, and AFAICT no such client exists.
Google's VPN documentation says you may need a separate VPN app "to run a separate VPN for the personal profile or work profile" - but I don't want that, I just want to run the one VPN, under the work profile. On a separate page describing the built-in client it says "you can make a VPN work only for apps associated with your work profile", but does not explain how, and I'm not finding such an option. Any help appreciated!

Additional hardware requirements for dual-profile use (personal & work) on low-end Android Smartphones

I have made the observation, respectively some colleagues of mine, that some low-end phones struggle after being enrolled into our mobile device management (MDM). We use Microsoft Intune for that, but for this question, this shouldn't be relevant.
Before rolling out the MDM, the low-end phones were used *as they were*, and some additional apps were installed for work purposes. Nothing too tasking.
When we introduced MDM, all existing phones were automatically enrolled as *personally owned, work profile*. Hence, a work profile was created on them.
Colleagues then remarked that certain low-end phones, specific models or makers aren't relevant here, have suffered severly performancewise.
On the other hand, newly enrolled phones of the same model under the *fully managed* scheme, did not show any noticeable degradation in performance.
Does creating separate profiles, one personal and one for work, in the enrollment into an MDM translate into an increase of the minimum requirements for RAM, the CPU etc.?
Naively, or intuitively, this seems logical, since having two profiles and a set of duplicated apps running at the same time should result in more base-use of system resources. However, I couldn't find any information on this, as in "You must be this tall, to support a personal and a work profile".
Is my hunch correct? Low-end phones being fine for single-profile use, but not for having two profiles.

My Pixel 5 running Android 11, encountered a frozen screen when attempting to set the screen lock to none.
After the system auto reboots, the device prompts for unlocking the screen pattern. Even entering the correct pattern, the work profile consistently prompts for unlocking,
The issue seems from using One Lock to secure the device but not removing the screen lock pattern successfully.
>
Following a guide to delete locksetting files allowed successful access to the device. However, the **work profile prevents the opening of apps.**
Rebooting to TWRP (3.7.0_11-0) seems user 10's data is encrypted.
Also following https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/231415/how-to-decrypt-island-work-profile-and-parallel-apps-user-in-twrp , the same, does not solve the issue.
**Any solution to decrypt the work profile data without format?**
**Edit:**
According to the using-adb-to-change-the-screen-lock
I also attempted to remove the screen lock using ADB.
adb shell
locksettings clear --old MY_PASSWORD --user 0
locksettings clear --old MY_PASSWORD --user 10
locksettings verify --user 0
locksettings verify --user 10
both show **Lock credential verified successfully**
after rebooting to TWRP, user 10 still failed to decrypt

I am using a work profile (set up via Insular) in order to clone some apps. I have an issue I can't seem to find any info about on the internet and I'm hoping someone can help me here. I am using ColorOS on Android 13 if that has any importance.
I have auto-rotate off on my phone. That means I can use an app while laying on the side and keep portrait mode. If I switch to an app from work profile however, auto-rotate is on and the app will flip. The quick tiles still show it's off so I can't change it from there.
**Issue:** How can I access the settings app for work profile? I cannot clone the settings app. Apparently it's already cloned? But then how do I access it so I can turn auto-rotate off from there? I can see it in the app list but not open it. There is no shortcut anywhere too.
I would be fine with just a way to disable auto-rotate for work profile though.

Recently I was issued a device with a work profile installed. (A Samsung Xcover6 Pro, if that helps). During initial setup, I was prompted to configure some of the extra hardware buttons inside the work profile, and doing so opened the settings app inside the work profile.
I later changed my mind about what setting I had made, but due to a bad decision by either my employer or Samsung, the settings app is not available inside the work profile. Dishonorable mention goes to Samsung for having the physical hardware buttons do different things when I have a work app open than when I have a personal app open and no way to configure both scenarios.
Initially, I thought this could be done with
shell am start -a android.settings.SETTINGS --user 10
, however that just launched settings as the default user and displayed the message "You're using this app outside of your work profile."
Eventually, I discovered that I had to specifically specify a compatible page to directly open that page. For example, for whatever reason I cannot access display settings, but the settings page for the xcover key could be accessed. An imperfect solution, but it solved my immediate need of remapping the key as desired. For the record, the adb command I ended up using was:
shell am start --user 10 -n 'com.android.settings/.Settings\$UsefulFeatureMainActivity'
Which on a Samsung device with an extra hardware key should allow you to remap those keys when the work profile is open. If anybody has a more generalized way to open the whole settings app as the work profile user (or, I suppose, any user profile enabled on your device), I'd love to hear it. Bonus points if it's something that could be configured to run without being connected via adb.

I use [AntennaPod](https://antennapod.org/) for podcasts, and I have it installed in both my personal profile and my work profile. It's installed through [Island](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.island) . Under my personal profile, the app works normally. Under my work profile, I can add podcasts, download episodes, etc., **but when I click the play button in the app, nothing happens.** No error, the app doesn't crash, but it simply doesn't play.
How can I debug this? Is this an issue with work profiles or with the app?
I'm using a Google Pixel 5a using Android 14 (the latest update from earlier in October 2023).
The log file is too long to paste here, so I put it on pastebin: https://pastebin.com/raw/z6ALYR92

EDIT: I updated the post with a link to the Island app that I used to enable the work profile and install applications in it, as well as the log file from running adb logcat
and then pressing play within AntennaPod in the work profile.

How can I get more information about Work Profile of my phone

Google describes Work profile as something that the organization manages, but my question is how can I make sure that my organization (or whoever else) does NOT have access/control to the work profile on my phone?
I have my personal Pixel phone, and as far as I remember the only work-related stuff on it is a Google account (our company uses Google Apps) and Google Authenticator app - both added by myself. I don't think I ever had a work profile until now when I installed a Shelter app. So I assume that in my case the Work profile is not actually controlled/accessed by anyone except myself. Is there any way to confirm this?

Apparently, Google has changed its software that handles Work Profile between v11 and v12.
In v11, it was handled by **Android Device Policy**, which was replaced by **App Device Policy**. The later works differently, instead of asking for credentials (email/password), it asks for a QR code supposedly provided by the company's IT department.
The issue is, the IT department doesn't have the ability to generate nor provide this QR code. I am the Workspace Admin myself and I don't have such feature.
This article helped me make sense of this issue, but I haven't found a clue for a proper solution yet.
https://www.googlecloudcommunity.com/gc/Workspace-Q-A/Unable-to-configure-Android-quot-work-profile-quot-with-google/m-p/393176
Is there a way to setup a Work Profile (with the ability to install different apps on each profile, e.g: install the same app twice and have it configured differently)?
If not, is this issue solved with Android 13?
I'm kind of stuck with this, really didn't expect to run into that when buying a new device, the benefits of having installed the same app multiple times is incredible, and made my life so much easier with all those OAuth logins everywhere. (and organise my "Desk" differently with folders for personal/work)

I've had a work profile setup and working flawlessly for a year or so using my work e-mail. Yesterday I realized I had been signed out of my work's Slack which was not installed on my work profile but had worked fine until the last week or so.
I attempted to sign back into slack and it seemed like Google was attempting to create a new work profile for my existing work e-mail, and I was unable to auth properly so the sign-in failed. I stopped the process, uninstalled Slack, reinstalled it on my work profile, signed in and everything seemed fine.
The problem I'm having now is that every hour I get a notification ding that "Account action required" for my work e-mail account. Clicking on that gives me a notice that says "Can't add work profile". After clicking on it, the notification disappears and then I get notified again a minute later.
Things I've Tried:
- Turning off, waiting, and turning back on notifications for Google Play Services
- Rebooting
- Clearing Google Play Services cache
All give me the notification within 30 seconds after completion. It seems like a bad idea to permanently disable notifications for Google Play Services, so I'm hoping for a less drastic option that also doesn't require deleting my existing work profile.
Any ideas for how I can stop being constantly bugged by this notification?

is there a command I can run to disable the “Work” profile?
I want to disable the Work profile on a schedule using Easer. I know Digital Wellbeing already provides this feature but it doesn't work for me, the app always crashes right when the Work profile is scheduled to turn off.

I got the following message on a Samsung device when trying to create a work profile:
> The security policy prevents the creation of a managed device because a custom OS is or has been installed on this device
But the device is not rooted. I have installed the latest official Samsung ROM using Odin and also disable the bootloader.
How can I fix this?

I am using a work profile (set up via Insular) in order to clone some apps. I have an issue I can't seem to find any info about on the internet and I'm hoping someone can help me here. I am using ColorOS on Android 13 if that has any importance.
I have a cloned app that may have links in it. Because I have no browser on my work profile, it will just refuse to open the links, saying that I don't have any app that can do it. I don't want to pollute my phone with a second instance of my browser that I don't need.
**Issue:** How can I tell my work profile apps to open links with an app outside of work profile? Weirdly enough it sometimes work??? Like some links from the work app will open just fine in Firefox from normal profile. But most won't especially YouTube links won't ever open the YT app, or browser for that matter.
