I want to create a network where my phone is the server, other phones can connect to my phone, and all of them can read or write on *a specific folder*, not all of my internal storage.
Recently, I was trying to use SSH (using Termux). I searched and asked about it on [Server Fault](https://serverfault.com) . So, I could not find a way to use that. Is there any other way?
I don't know if I can do this with SSH or any other protocol. (I use Termux, and if there is any way that needs Linux, I will thank you for sharing it with me.)
I don't have a computer, so I prefer solutions without requiring it. I am ready to do it the hard way because it's the only possible way for me. Thank you.
Edit: my phone is Xiaomi Redmi 10. 128GB with 4GB RAM.

Almost every photo I take, I transfer to my Windows 10 PC. I normally do this by connecting the USB cable between them and using Windows explorer. All my phones fail with the USB connector becoming loose on the phone. I normally charge it wirelessly, it's only the car Android Auto and Windows connection that requires a physical cable.
I would like to minimise the usage of the USB connector.
How can I connect the two using WiFi or Bluetooth, so that I can transfer files across.

Friends always come and always ask to share a few MP3s. I'd like them to browse my Android server at their own leisure without deleting anything.
I have servers ultimate installed, but it always requires to be connected via router or Wi-Fi. Can't seem to find the option so that it will not require an active net connection.

And have it open up a windows folder like any other share. Then I could copy my songs, play songs off the share, etc. Is something like this possible? Is there an app I can buy?

- If not, is there any app/extension for sharing original quality images and videos that is convenient to use both for me and the receiver?

The Camera app stores photos in some DCIM folder, and these can easily be accessed to attach to an email message, or to download to a pc over an USB cable.
In the Photos app, I can edit a photo, and save it as a separate photo file, and can see it among the unedited photo's and attach it to emails.
However, those edited photos are not visible over the USB connection, and cannot be downloaded to a pc.
It seems as if only the Camera app can store in the DCIM folders, but other apps can read files from that folder. Is it true that other apps cannot store in DCIM? Is the photo editor part of the Camera app? I did not yet try other photo editor apps.
Related problem is that the app Kopie ID from the dutch government cannot store the edited photo of an ID in DCIM so that you cannot upload it in a browser web app. (Purpose of this app is to be able to black out unneeded sensitive info, and to add a watermark)
I guess that android tries to play it more safe than good old unix / dos, where the file is the basic unit of info and the directory structure allows for very flexible file sharing between arbitrary apps.
Thanks for any hints on sharing files between phone and pc, and between apps.

I want to run an SSH server on my Android phone so that my clients (varying between 10 to 20) can easily and securely share data with me when I'm on the go, without using any third-party hosting services like email, file sharing, etc. Every user should have their own directory (enforced using SFTP's chroot) and he/she should be able to log in using his/her own password (not the key file) I provide them, optionally sharing credentials with other users if one needs to.
I didn't find any such flexible solution, especially FOSS. So I built
sshd
program from openssh source code , using gcc-linux-aarch64
cross compiler on Ubuntu. However, when I execute it on my phone, it throws an error:
~# sshd -d
Privilege Separation user sshd does not exist
How can I add sshd
and other users on Android? My phone is rooted.
**PS:** I'm jotting down an answer to my own question of what limitations I faced and how I have been achieving this for the past few years. Any other method - particularly a non-root solution through GUI for ease of a common user - would be appreciated.

Every time I use the share feature to share a photo in Android 7.1.1, it suggests people who are not in my contacts and contacts I have not spoken to in years. My phone can't be rooted and the suggestions I've found, such as disabling direct share, do not seem to be available in recent versions of Android. I don't want to share photos to so unsubscribe@spam.com email I used once or to some person I'm not in contact with.
How do I remove share suggestions or disable them entirely? I would rather just choose the app to share with and then select the recipient from within the app.
Edit: I've also found that older versions of Android had a feature to long-press and drag suggested share items to pin them to the top pf the menu. This no longer appears to work either. Please help get these people off my share menu.

I recently traveled to Europe and took dozens of beautiful 3D spin-around shots using Samsung built-in camera's **"Virtual Shot"** mode photos.
These look amazing on my phone, but I want to share them with the world. In the past I've been able to share photos to a javascript-powered website, such as 360 photos via Microsoft's Photosynth.
How can I share these spin-around 3D photos?
*Note: if there is no way to do it currently, I am an app developer and web programmer so I'd be happy to build one myself, so let me know if there's any information on the data they are stored in as well*

I don't know Androids calendar infrastructure so maybe my question sounds a bit fuzzy.
I dislike (non self hosted) cloud services but I like the ability to share my calendar among devices (and even people). Since I'm not alone I wonder whether someone already built a calendar app which stores it's data (encrypted) in a way which can be shared via Syncthing, Sparkleshare, Dropbox, ...
This app would have to 'monitor' changes on this file in order to update itself, notify the user about changes and not overwrite changes 'from outside'.
So my question is actually two questions: is (are) there such apps already (and how are they called, so I can search myself) or is this possible in the first place (or why not?).

I am implementing a app in which I am creating one file using openFileOutput API in Android.
The file is saved to /data/data/com.xx.xx/files/
Now when I am switching to secondary user(multi user) I am not able to access that file from my app.
Earlier we used to have obb directly where we can share files across multiple users. But in Android 10 it is not possible.
So in Android 10 what are the ways to share files across multiple users?
Or
Where should I place my file so that it can be accessed from secondary user(multiuser) in my app.

I wasn't sure if I had to ask this question on a Linux Exchange or on the Android one, but since folder sharing is working fine on the Linux that are running on my computer, I thought that it is an Android side issue.
I am trying to share a folder between two Linux Deploy environments. I have tried to install
nfs-kernel-server
however I am having an error showing that the kernel does not support nfs. When I am using uname -a
the kernel that Ubuntu prints is the Android's one so I guess that the Android kernel does not support the nfs module.
I have, also, tried using Samba. The server side was set up successfully. When I am trying to mount the shared folder using mount -t cifs //192.168.1.5/mirror /mirror
, I am facing a mount error cifs filesystem not supported by the system
. After some googling I found out that using modprobe cifs
could resolve the issue however the module cifs does not exist on the Android kernel. It seems that the issue in both cases the issue seems to be the Android kernel, is there any way to add nfs
or cifs
support to the Android kernel? If that's not possible how could I share a folder between two Linux Deploy environments?
