I am using Saavn for listening to and downloading music. The problem is that the app downloads all of its data to my internal storage. I have only 8GB of storage in which only 5.23GB is user usable.
Now the cache size of Saavn is more than 2GB. I don't have space to install new apps but I don't want to delete the songs.
I tried to move the mp3 files. I navigated to the
Android > Data > com.saavn > songs
folder and found mp3 files whose names are random 10+ digit numbers. When I try to play these files My music players is unable to play them. I even tried other apps like N7 Music Player.
Is there any way by which I can either extract the mp3 files or I can change the storage to SD card? I see no option for this in Saavn.

I have mpv (2023-11-30-release) for Android - what would be the simplest way to reproduce the Ruby script for Android? - I have played around with rooting my phones in the past but I would prefer not to have to do that this time.
I followed the advice in one of the comments and executed

I was able to replicate this for skipping to the center of a song. I can't hear an entire second, but it does seek to the center of the song and play a bit of it. If I try to go back to the beginning of the song after every skip, the Music Player eventually crashes.
For any of the mp3s with these issues, if I restart my phone it deletes these songs .

They are displayed if I am using a file explorer app, but not on the music apps, so I cannot listen to them.
Why is it so? Is this normal? Does it depend on my phone, Android version, or only the music apps? Is there a way to stop this? I was not able to find how to remove this filter in the parameters of the apps. Do you have the name of free music apps that do the job?

I was using the Mega Call Recorder Advanced Android app to record phone calls for quite some time. Its official package name was
com.callrecorder.procallrecorder
and the developer's name was MEGA Clip
.
Although I still have the app installed, it disappeared from the Play Store a while back. I'm not sure why, as it worked quite well. I did notice that its UI is very similar to many other call recording apps, and so I wonder if perhaps it was based on another project.
At this point, I have *many* GB of recorded calls stored by this now-defunct app. The calls are stored in standard MP3 format, and the filename of each is the timestamp of the call. *So far so good.* The big issue is that the filenames do ***not*** indicate the phone number (or contact name) of the caller (for incoming calls) / call recipient (for outgoing calls). That data is visible in the app's UI, but I don't see any export function.
I want to backup all of this app's data and have the backups in a usable format. To do that, I need to somehow have a record of which contact (or at least phone number) each recording is associated with. Ideally, I would like the MP3 filenames themselves to include that essential information.
I'm hoping someone will have a good idea of how to proceed, or perhaps recognize the UI and know of another app that can perhaps export the data.
I have a strong hunch that there are other call recorder apps out there that are based on the same code. Someone even wrote a review on the Google Play store noticing the same thing (see last screenshot below). Perhaps one of those apps has a good export function and could read the data files from this app.
Here is what the app looks like (screenshots courtesy of the Google Play store), as well as other relevant screenshots:

Both MediaMonkey and MusicBee, as music players let you 'rate' songs from 1 to 5 stars. I would like to have this functionality as well in an Android app. The main problem is syncing these ratings. Android apps like NRG Player do have a rating, however if I rate songs using NRG Player, they are not 'understood' by neither MediaMonkey nor MusicBee. Also, any ratings I give to songs via MediaMonkey or MusicBee are neither understood by the NRG Player.
Is there any app which reads/writes ratings in the same format that either MediaMonkey or MusicBee do? Or any app which syncs such ratings?

I'm an avid music lover, and over my long life collected many rare CDs. I made MP3s of these CDs and had happily listened to them on my iPhone using iTunes.
This week I switched to Android (Samsung Galaxy s10e). I painstakingly uploaded all of my Music folder from my Windows 10 PC onto Google Play Music using the Chrome extension.
Only 3/4s of my MP3s successfully uploaded. Under Google Play Music > Settings> Music from My Computer, there's no mention of any failures.
After a quick look, it seems that the rarer recordings were the items skipped. These recordings are not in Google Play Music's library, so now I'm fearing that I can only upload MP3s that are in Google's database.
**Questions:**
1. Can anyone confirm this theory?
2. If it's true, what can I do to get all my MP3s, as they are, onto this Android phone and be able to organize them into playlists and listen to them?

On my Nexus 4, there's a folder called
/sdcard/Music/
(or just /Music
when browsing the phone's storage; Windows 7 calls it Computer\Nexus 4\Internal storage\Music
) and I've put a lot of songs in there but **the music player doesn't see any of my songs.**
Why can one app (the file manager, and e.g. Dropbox) see the files, but not another app (Play Music, Apollo, Jukefox)?
**Notes:**
- LG Nexus 4 16GB, unlocked, with CyanogenMod 10.1
(nightly build 20130212 because nothing *more stable* is available but there are no crashes.)
- The songs are stored in the path format /sdcard/Music/Artist/Album/Song title.mp3
(simply because that's how they're stored on my media drive).
- Computer\Nexus 4\Internal storage\Music\Eagles\On the Border\1 Already Gone.mp3
- Computer\Nexus 4\Internal storage\Music\Kashmir\The Good Life\10 Kiss me goodbye.mp3
- Computer\Nexus 4\Internal storage\Music\Christina St眉rmer\Freier Fall\1 Geh nicht wenn du kommst.mp3
(yes there's a Chinese character in there and I don't know why; it's a German ü *(umlaut u)* on my original Windows media drive)
- I know that the songs are present and that they work because the CyanogenMod File Manager shows them and I can play them individually. *They do exist!*
- Running Rescan SD as suggested below didn't make the files appear in any of the player apps.
- I'm fairly certain there are no .nomedia
files: The CyanogenMod File Manager doesn't display files that begin with a .
(I renamed an existing TXT file and it promptly disappeared :)) but I used the Root Browser Lite to look through /Music
and subfolders -- the only match I found was the one I had renamed, and I have deleted that now.
- My Windows pc at work couldn't see the files either, but after unplugging/replugging the USB it now can see+open+play the files. (I've now revised this question to remove the Windows part.)
- I'm still mystified by the fact that file-browser apps see the files but music-player apps don't.

I could not find where permissions got changed.

What is not clear to me, and I have not been able to find an answer for, is: what if I actually *buy* a track on Google Play Store? Can I move the MP3 to any "dumb" MP3 player and listen at it there? In other words: is it DRM-free?

I have tried and failed to modify an iPod to be able to accommodate this number, but a friend recently suggested I store them on a 1TB micro SD card, and use an Android device to play them. Any help is appreciated!

My entire music library is sitting on a server that I access through SSH (could be setup for HTTP) and I would like to copy it to my Xioami Mi A1 (running Nougat).
What would be the best way to accomplish this without using an SD card? I installed Termux, and an rsync client, but:
* I don't know the location of where I should download too, and
* there seems to be a permission issue anywhere outside Termux's home directory ('whoami' reports my user credentials as "u0_a###")
I would like to transfer the music to the "proper" directory (not just the downloads directory).
With 50+G of unused storage space, I'd really like to make use of it.

I have two folders of mp3 files, one for music and one for my alarm clock. I have them both on my sd card.
Right now I'm trying to use (or find) 3rd party apps that will do what i want.
Even outside the default music folder, the music player and the alarm app both seem to pick up both folders.
I'd like to find a way to ignore the folders in each app. I tried adding a .nomedia folder but that hides it from both apps.
If there's a specific app that can ignore .nomedia files or only look at specified folders, that would probably work.
Seems most alarm apps name you select each song (let me know of any that can just watch folders), but it's still annoying sorting through picking out which is alarm and which isn't.
