At the moment, I use the VLC application for my music on my cellphone. Recently, they pushed out an update that moved everyone away from the beta application to the normal one.
Since this update, I'm noticing the fact that the application shuts down after you pause the music for around 4-5 hours.
This behavior ready broke my workflow, where before I only had to plug in my audio cable, I now need to plugin my cable, unlock my phone, open VLC, manually add every audio file in my files, and then turn on shuffle, before I can enjoy my music 2 times a day.
How do I make VLC stay active during periods of inactivity?

I have a Pixel 4XL on Android 12. I would like to get in my car and have one app that controls my hands-free texting and music like Android Auto used to. Google Maps navigation mode has the ability to do this, but only when I enter a destination. With a destination, it is great. Exactly what I need. But unless I enter my destination every single time, it doesn't work safely.
I am aware that I can put a widget that enters drive/navigation mode when pressed and have added that widget. However, it still requires me to enter a destination before it will control text and music. If I simply leave it w/o a destination there is text control but no music control.
Is there a way for Maps-Driving mode to show me my map, have the music control at the bottom, and control texting without having to enter a destination every single time?

Since Android device can play music using in-built music player or using external apps such as
YouTube
or TuneIn Radio
, I wonder if it is possible to "**measure**" the sound being played by Android through earphones/headsets?
**For example**: I am using Google Music App to play music through headset/earphone. ***Is there a way(any tool or app)to know how much sound in decibel it is generating?*** Already checked Sound Meter , but it seems to be monitoring only the external sound/noice around phone , not really catching the sound output from earphone.
As discussed in this Health.SE post , there seems to be health implications (related to hearing loss etc.) if one hears the music at higher decibel volume. Hence, its better to check what sound level you are hearing your music at for safer media experience.

I have 3 pairs of Bluetooth headphones:
1. Sony WH-1000xm4
2. Jabra Elite Active 65t
3. Cardo PacTack bold (motorcycle communicator, works as Bluetooth headset)
On my Pixel 5 I have 2 sound players installed:
1. YouTube Music (for music)
2. Smart AudioBook Player (for audiobooks)
Whenever I am listening to music using YouTube music and press the pause and then resume button on any of my Bluetooth devices, it switches to playing audiobooks in Smart Player! This is very annoying, especially on a motorcycle where I need to stop to be able to unlock my screen to switch back to YouTube!
If there is a way to set up which player is activated when a play button on Bluetooth headphones is pressed? Or at least disable some players from being ever activated by a button?

Is there some Bluetooth feature that needs to be supported by an app in order for this button to show up? What is the feature's name? How do I find apps that have it?
This is especially important now that Google has killed off Google Play Music and replaced it with YouTube Music, which does not provide this Browse button on a Bluetooth connection.
If I knew what this function was called, I could try to pester Google, or the third-party app developers, and ask them to add support for it.

Whenever my phone (stock Nexus 4 running 4.4.4) connects to it, the car sends a "play" command that automatically starts the most recently used music app (Google Play Music, Pandora, etc.). It doesn't matter if no music app was open on the phone, the command opens it up and it starts playing no matter what, and there's no way on the car to stop it from sending the command, as mentioned here . Is there a way to stop this from happening?

I just received an email notification that Google Play Music would be discontinued later this year, and instructing me to transfer my library over to YouTube Music (I haven't done this yet). I am possibly an atypical user — my entire Play Music library is music that I ripped from CDs and uploaded to my account. I also am often in places without reliable WiFi and I don't like to use data for streaming audio, so I prefer to have my entire library stored locally. To this end I have my entire Play Music library downloaded onto an external SD card on my phone.
Will I be able to do the same thing with YouTube Music? All of the information I have read online (for example official blog
) says that "paying members" will be able to download music for offline listening.
Does that mean that I won't be able to download my *own* music to my device without paying for the privilege?
**EDITED TO ADD:** A few people have asked, in the comments, why I even want to bother with a cloud-based music platform, if I plan on always having my music locally stored. This is a fair question, one I ought to have originally addressed! The reason is that it makes synchronization simple: every time I add a new song or album to my Play Music library (which I usually do from my home desktop computer) it is automatically available not only on my phone (where I can download it to keep available offline) and on my work desktop computer. Similarly if I create a playlist on one device it is automatically available on all of my other ones. Since Play Music is going away, my hope is that Youtube Music will be able to take its place -- otherwise I will have to start all over with a new platform, which I would prefer to avoid.

I have a lot of music on my phone and I think I use it rather differently than most people:
- all the music is actually on my phone as mp3s. I do not stream music from anywhere
- my playlists are long - 8 hours, 12 hours, kind of thing
- I generally don't shuffle but want to play them in order, because there's a pattern to the music
- I get new music from time to time and don't just want to stick it on the end
I have tried various things to make playlists but what they all seem to have in common is that "add to playlist" adds it at the end and there's no way to move things around. I understand if you had a 10-song list you could delete 5, add the new thing, then add those 5 back but I'm not doing that with hundreds or thousands of entries.
I don't need to edit the file on my phone -- copying a file out to my PC and editing it with a text editor, then copying it back would be fine for me. After all, I generally add music to the list only when I'm near my PC, where I keep the originals of the music files. I can handle XML, json, or other semi-human-readable formats without complaint.
I'm really not invested in any other features of a music player. I want to bring up the playlist, put my headphones in, hit play, and stop interacting with my phone at that point. I appear to be using "Samsung Music" which came with the phone, but I see I have VLC also installed. I will cheerfully install something different if it gives me the capability to truly edit a playlist.

I have a 2019 Toyota Prius that can play music from my Android phone using Bluetooth. On my phone I am using Musicolet as the music player.
Some of the time, this works perfectly: the music plays in the order I chose on the phone, and if I shut down the car and then restart it, the music restarts where it left off.
However, other times the following happens when I tell the car to use the Bluetooth source. The screen comes up, asking me to choose which app to use. I only have one choice, which is Musicolet, so I choose that. Then it asks me whether to resume playback, or shuffle all the songs in the playlist. I choose to resume.
I think this bad behaviour started in the last few months, and since the car hasn't had any software updates, it's possibly an Android or Musicolet update that caused it.
Does anyone know an Android or Musicolet (or maybe Toyota Prius) configuration change that will make the bad behaviour go away?

My car is a Ford Focus from 2016. If I plug in an iPhone, the car just starts to play whatever music was last listened to (or just starts playing the first track in the alphabet). This is great.
However, I'd rather use an Android phone than an iPhone, and the Pixel 4a is otherwise great, but the playing over USB feature is important to me; the sound over Bluetooth in this car is rather poor.
Does anyone know if this can be done?
I've tried some different music apps - e.g. USB Audio Player PRO - to no avail; even using the USB OTG extension that came with the phone.
USB Preferences
are set to File transfer/Android Auto
I also saw this question: 2012 question from 2012 and thought (hoped) things had moved on since then.

I've Google Play Music and Samsung Music installed, neither can browse OneDrive off-line files. I can play them with a very basic player (probably skin of one of before mentioned players?), but that's not a solution for me.

I was able to replicate this for skipping to the center of a song. I can't hear an entire second, but it does seek to the center of the song and play a bit of it. If I try to go back to the beginning of the song after every skip, the Music Player eventually crashes.
For any of the mp3s with these issues, if I restart my phone it deletes these songs .

I have a 256 and 512 GB SD card formatted in exFAT, copied the music files to them in various ways (never just in the root directory - directory size limitations - but variously to a single subdirectory (called cleverly 'Music') and to about 300 subdirectories of the various artists. There are ~11000 files.
I've never successfully accessed all the files. The most recent time the card was recognized, but no music files were detected, and when I took the card back out and looked at it in Windows, the card was empty (after 6 hours of writing files and checking the integrity of the file system regularly).
What's going on? Surely this dedicated music player is going to recognize an SD card... And I can't see how any device would just wipe the file system of a memory card.

As an avid music listener I have several music apps on my phone. Everytime I turn on bluetooth (or when bluetooth tries to autoconnect to a device without any device to connect to) several of my music apps open a player notification.
This is really annoying, especially as it slows down my phone while the apps are opening in the background (unless it has something to do with bluetooth connecting). This also replaces the current player notification (if I have one) on my homescreen, which is annoying.
Is there a way to disable this?
My phone is an Sony XZ2 Compact running Android 10.
The music apps I experience this with are: Spotify, Bandcamp, Mixcloud and DR Lyd.
Update: The answer to https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/77558/how-can-i-stop-music-apps-from-playing-when-my-android-connects-via-bluetooth-to doesn't solve it.
I've tested the app [Bluetooth Connect & play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cp2.start.and.play.music.player) which doesn't solve it.
I've tested [this answer](https://android.stackexchange.com/a/179460/158409) with Tasker and it didn't solve it.

I've been using Rocket player (which is a local file music player) for quite a long time now, but I have recently bought a new phone. The music database (i.e #times a song has been played etc) ported just fine, but I have other problems with it, and the new developers of the app don't have the greatest reputation. So I looked for another music player and found Musicolet, which I really like the features of. But I really would like to port my music database over to it. How would I do that in the least painful way?
**Here's what I've tried so far**
- Musicolet does have a database importer/exporter, but the file is an encrypted .db file. Thanks to this post on reddit though I managed to decrypt it and can now manually edit it using DB Browser for SQLite. In other words, all my songs are in the export file, but naturally has no "data" such as #times played.
- Retrieving the database file from Rocket player has proven to be much harder. I know from previous experience that Rocket player uses a file called blob3.blob to store its playdata, and it is possible to open an older version of my music database stored in .blob in DB Browser for SQlite.
- However, I cannot find this file anywhere on my android phones, and I tried using AirDroid to import the .apk file, which just contains an empty blob3.blob file. I figure the file is stored in the hidden /data/data folders or the app folder for Rocket player or its cloud uploader. As far as I can tell, the only way to acces these folders is by rooting my phone. I really don't want to root my new phone, but I don't really care about my old one (Xperia XZ1) and tried rooting it. But I got stuck at unlocking the bootloader, which seems to be more or less required in order to root. Unlocking the bootloader will clear all data from the phone which completely defeats the purpose of rooting it in the first place.
- In ADB there's a backup app function you can do. Couldn't get that to work but it could possibly contain the file I need. Also, downgrading my old phone to android 9 could also possibly work to get more access to the hidden folders, but this seems also to require unlocking the bootloader.
- Using scrobble works for recording new play data onto last.fm, but cannot register past play data, so that doesn't work either.
So my current solution is to manually browse each song in the Rocket player app, and then manually registering it in the Musicolet export .db file. But this includes copying last played date converted into Unix epoch time (which is the one that really takes a long time), and my music collection has over 7000 songs.
Does anyone have any idea of how I could do this more efficient in any way? Having the blob3.blob file would make this a lot easier.
**Edit:** Doing android backup worked *this time* and *for me* (see comments) and I got my blob3.blob file. I could easily copy over my data, but my new issue is Musicolet failing to load my import. I think it due to the fact that all the files in the Musicolet export/import .zip are checked with md5 checksums to see if they are corrupted or not (I'm guessing), which is mostly stored in a file in the zip called "0.musicolet.backup". From testing I can ascertain that the hashes in this file indeed has something to do with the other files because they do not change when making a new export and not changing anything. However, I cannot replicate the hashes since pulling the files through an encoder do not match those hashes. But I need to know the hasing method in order to get the import to work in Musicolet. Currently, i am looking for a solution on this.

I've tried to find a solution in settings but without any result. I thought that the problem can be solved by turning off silent mode but it didn't help too.
