I have a Pixel 4XL on Android 12. I would like to get in my car and have one app that controls my hands-free texting and music like Android Auto used to. Google Maps navigation mode has the ability to do this, but only when I enter a destination. With a destination, it is great. Exactly what I need. But unless I enter my destination every single time, it doesn't work safely. I am aware that I can put a widget that enters drive/navigation mode when pressed and have added that widget. However, it still requires me to enter a destination before it will control text and music. If I simply leave it w/o a destination there is text control but no music control. Is there a way for Maps-Driving mode to show me my map, have the music control at the bottom, and control texting without having to enter a destination every single time?

My situation: - Android (4.0.3) tab hooked up to my car stereo using the headphones connector. - Android (2.3.5) phone (HTC Desire HD), which I use to call, text, browse, etc. I want to make a phone call with my phone, but in my country, it is illegal to hold your phone at ear height. That is why I had a car stereo with Bluetooth, so I can hear the person I am talking to over my car speakers. Since my car stereo's Bluetooth device died, I thought I could use the Android tab as an audio relay device. The problem is: the tab has no Bluetooth. It has WiFi though. I need to replace that function and I already have a tab in my car directly connected to my stereo. I want my outgoing audio from my phone over WiFi to my tab. Phone -> WiFi -> tab -> cable -> car stereo. Is there any way to use an Android device as a hands-free adapter over WiFi? Some kind of WiFi relay between the phone and the tablet, perhaps?

Ever since I switched to a new Pixel 8 (currently running Android 15), I started seeing erratic bluetooth behavior in these two scenarios, which look somewhat related: 1. Whenever I use the assistant button on my car, the appropriate volume is applied for the initial tone and then the response; however, the same volume level is temporarily applied to media playing before the assistant request, making it unbearably loud; 2. Whenever I place a call with a bluetooth device (car or headset), the end call tone is routed through the phone speakers, never the bluetooth device. These two look somewhat related, given they happen at the time the device is switching from a mic+audio mode (hands-free mode), to audio only (A2DP). As stated previously, I switched to Android 15, coming from Android 13.

Long story short, I am taking daily progress pictures and I am trying to take a picture with the phone without touching it or using a timer etc. Totally hands free. The phone is a spare Samsung note 10+ mounted to the bathroom mirror and permanently connected with the back camera facing forward. Touching the phone isn't suitable because it's facing the wall and movement has the chance of bumping the position slightly (not ideal). After experimenting with Bixby many thanks to the comment by @Morrison Chang , I found it does work hands-free suitably for my partner and myself, however listening to my partner trying to tell the wall to take a photo in a slow robotic voice is not optimal. So, the question remains, Can a Bluetooth attached button wake a phone and trigger a picture to be taken? ***Note**: I am a career programmer so writing a simple app isn't out of the equation if need be.*

In my car I have the headphone socket of my Galaxy S2 plugged into my car's auxiliary socket so that I can listen to music/podcasts whilst driving. This would also be useful for handsfree calls - except that when someone rings, I can hear their voice through the car speakers, but they can barely hear me. If I press the "speaker" button, then they can now hear me perfectly, but I can't hear them. Is there any way to have the microphone sensitivity of "speaker mode", but with incoming audio still going through the headphone socket? If not, does anyone know of any hands free alternatives without spending a fortune on a bluetooth hands free kit?

This question is a duplicate of https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/5796/can-an-android-phone-be-used-as-a-bluetooth-headset-speakers from 2011. I am asking because I suspect Android may have been subject to an update or two since then. My use case is: - Old car with aux input - Tablet screwed into the dashboard - Tablet audio out into the car radio and wired microphone next to the rearview mirror into the tablet I want to get in my car and take a call, without taking my phone out of my pockets. I've been searching an hour, reading 25-page long forum threads, still no definitive answers and almost all threads are from 2012 or so. With all the people screwing tablets into their car's dashboard, there just has to be a way to do this, right?

**Equipment used:** I just bought a cheap Bluetooth handsfree from china: http://www.miniinthebox.com/mini-stereo-wireless-v3-0-headset_p1187467.html **Explanation:** This works perfect for me, and i don't notice any problems at all. The problem is that for people calling me, or i am calling hears them selves in an echo with about 1 sec lag. I cannot hear this echo at all, but for everyone i talk to with the handsfree set hears this echo. If i mute the mic, then the echo disappears. **My question is this:** Is it possible to remove echo by using any software or android setting? **I think that there should be two ways of doing this:** **1.** muting my mic while the other part talks. (nearly like an automatic walkie talkie) **2.** cancelling what is sent from the other part, and don't send the same sounds back to the other part again.

Voice activated / HF inputs: how can you escape special function phrases?
For example, say I have a sentence that I want to end with a period then have returned to a new line, but the contents of that sentence itself *include* `period` and `new line` as literals. Is it possible to use voice-only commands to write such a message?

Hands-free/Driving Mode: How to change the reading voice's language (and voice: male/female etc...)?
Is there a way to change the language and voice for reading out the information on hands-free mode. Even better, it would be nice if the language and voice for the alarm could be set on a per-alarm feature. Anyone knowing if and how this can be done, please don't hesitate to reply. Thanks.

My phone has developed an odd and hard to reproduce problem lately. I have been listening to a lot of audiobooks using BeyondPod. Throughout the day, I often pause and resume the tracks using the play/pause button on the headset. Usually this works without a hitch, but at random times it will launch the basic Android music player and start playing music, rather than resuming my audiobook where it was last paused. When I listen to music, I use Rocket Player. I have never intentionally launched the basic player. I used to have random conflicts between BeyondPod and Rocket Player, but after being told by the Rocket devs that they couldn't control which player got control if I had headset controls enabled in both players, I just started switching off the headset controls in Rocket Player when I wasn't using it. This worked for a while until recently when the basic player started launching instead. I have noticed that it seems to forget that I was using BeyondPod primarily if it has been paused for a while and other (non-music) apps have been launched. This leads me to believe that it is caused when BeyondPod gets deprioritized out of active memory. However, I have been unable to force it to make this switch on purpose. Is there any way to be able to select a system-wide default music player so it will stop launching the basic one? I couldn't find a setting for this in my phone. Alternatively, is there a way to mark an app as "higher priority" so it is less likely to be kicked out by other apps? Any other thoughts on solving this? ----- * Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 (Sprint) * Android: 4.4.2 * Rooted, but on stock Samsung image.

I've activated Hands-free mode from the configurable set of switch-buttons at the top of the notification panel on my Samsung Galaxy SIII, and such mode also appears activated under Settings -> My device -> Hands-free mode. Such entry reads: "Incoming calls and new notifications will be read out automatically". However, I've tried sending myself e-mail messages and also received some WhatsApp messages, which triggered the Whistle Default notification sound and made the front Blue LED blink until I swiped down my notification panel. As I was saying, however I didn't hear any voice coming from the phone reading out the notifications aloud, so it seems like this feature is not working for me. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

On this question, I would like to know: * If I have another Android device, called here D2; * How to play every sound from D2 on D1 using bluetooth connection. Example: 1. I'm on a call on D2. When I enter the car and turn D1 on, when D1 and D2 become bluetooth-paired, I can drive and continue talking via D1 (like a handsfree device), with D2 on my pocket; 2. I'm hearing music on D2 with my headphones. When I enter the car and turn D1 on, when D1 and D2 become bluetooth-paired, I can hear the music from D2.

I have a non-rooted Sony Xperia running Android 4.3 and I have recently have bought a Belkin CarAudio Connect AUX with Bluetooth. It connects fine and it all works however it left me wanting more. Currently pressing the button on the CarAudio Connect pauses and plays the audio, a feature that I wish to keep. However, I was hoping that a double tab or a long press can do a Google voice search so I can call or text people (or find out important information like the height of the Eiffel Tower) while driving. How would I set this up? I have tried 'Bluetooth Launch' from the Play store but it didn't do anything and I couldn't find any similar apps. I was thinking a Tasker task or a similar app but I don't know how to set it up or what action to look for. Please help.
