I'm trying to set up my motorcycle Bluetooth headset (Fodsports BT-S2) to let me use Google Assistant. It has the following Bluetooth profiles:
- A2DP-SNK
- AVRCP
- HSP
- HFP
I've managed to find an old APK of 'Smart Bluetooth Headset' which has allowed me to map the normal 'redial last number' button to the more useful 'Google Assistant'. That seems to be working flawlessly, opening the assistant and making the normal beep awaiting voice input.
The problem I have is that it doesn't pick up the audio from the microphone on the headset, only from the phone itself. I've tried various combinations of the settings within the Google Assistant, as well as various mono routing apps to try and get it to work. One of these mono routing apps was successful at one point. However, my setup was no longer using A2DP, and so I was forced to endure poor sound quality.
Is there any way I could either:
1. Make Google Assistant correctly use the microphone on my headset?
2. Force the phone to use only the microphone part of my headset, instead of the phone's built-in microphone, whilst retaining the A2DP mode for audio?

Is there a way to do this laptop mic cut-off using an Android app on my smartphone? I am thinking that I could possibly connect the phone to the laptop via Bluetooth, and to use that connection to reach out and touch the Zoom-controlled microphone. Is this possible? Is there a currently available app for this? Or would I have to write such an app myself?

I have a **DragonTouch K10 tablet** (Android 8.1.0) which in general works really well for my limited needs.
Built-in, Bluetooth and wired headset audio are all fine with other apps, e.g. AudioLab, where I experience no problem at all with any of the microphones. (AudioLab did need me to opt explicitly to use the Bluetooth microphone the first time.)
But I simply cannot get the Android Zoom app to pick up audio from any microphone at all, internal, wired, or Bluetooth. Zoom thinks I have a microphone, the microphone permissions setting is in place, but no sound is picked up. Meanwhile the speaker is 100% fine in all cases.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Zoom on the tablet, and even tried the app download on the Zoom website, all with no joy.
Meanwhile my Samsung 'phone's Zoom app (Android 13) has no trouble whatever with any microphone I throw at it.
Zoom supposedly supports Android 8.1.0, and I can't find any reference to this problem anywhere on the web (where most of the articles, even where Android is in theory being discussed, start by telling me to use options and/or tests that don't exist in the Zoom Android app).
I have tried the Zoom test (zoom.us/test) which just tells me I have a microphone and then exits - I was rather expecting it to let me talk and then play back the result, but no.
I am rather puzzled by the complete lack of audio input/microphone settings on the K10's settings pages - all the sound settings and volume controls seem to relate purely to audio output - don't know if this is relevant.
I have tried various configurations of Lesser Audio Switch, which is a great tool but which didn't seem able to make Zoom behave (which didn't surprise me, I wonder if Zoom is trying to use a microphone-related API that doesn't actually exist in 8.1.0, and then just giving up).
I have run out of things to try, any ideas gratefully received.

**(Reposting this question because my previous one was misunderstood . I am specifically asking about reducing background noise picked up by the microphone, not noise cancellation for listening.)**
I have a pair of Xiaomi earbuds, but their microphone picks up a lot of background noise during calls and recordings. It seems to amplify noise rather than suppress it.
Is there a way—preferably an app—to apply system-wide noise suppression for the microphone on Android? My goal is to reduce the background noise that the other person hears during a call or that gets recorded in a voice memo.
I know some desktop apps exist for this purpose, but I haven’t been able to find a good Android alternative. Any suggestions?
### Clarification:
- I am **not** looking for Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) that blocks out noise for the listener.
- I **am** looking for software-based noise suppression that improves what the microphone picks up.
Any recommendations would be appreciated!

**Clarification**:
By noise cancellation, I mean trying to block out a noisy environment from being picked up on a recording/ heard by the other person on the call.

My camera app works normally with the built in microphone. When I try to record using a plugged USB microphone it triggers this error when I click to start recording:
>cannot start video capture another app may be using the mic
To make sure no other app is using the microphone I removed all other apps permissions to use this resource and leave it only for the camera but still the error happens. Any idea about why is it happening and how to solve it? I want to record videos using the usb microphone.
extra info: It is a **Moto G84** with **android 14**.

By using [this](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/259322/how-can-i-force-a-recording-with-a-specific-microphone) , I think I isolated the issue. Recording in unprocessed 3gpp aac-lc mode sounds awful.
I think software (including the phone/dialer?) is falling back to AAC-LC during stressful situations (for me, often when speaker is turned on?). I also get this issue in Discord calls on speakerphone. Enabling wi-fi calling with mint mobile seems to have helped though I still don't understand the root cause. It's not a hardware issue because the microphone sounds crystal clear in other settings of the same app.

Is this just a poor design feature of the camera app, a bug, or is there a way to fix this?

Google Assistant can't start when another app is using the microphone
I can start them manually, so the problem is not exclusive access to the microphone.
I've tried like five different recording apps and I just get the same message, when I try to activate it in settings.
I'm not really sure what the problem is here.

I have done some research, and it looks like the advice from https://android.stackexchange.com/q/256280/44325 was to use an app called Lesser Audio Switch. But looking for this app today, I find it is not compatible with Android 14 (at least the Play Store says it isn't, please correct me if I'm wrong).
I was wondering if there is an alternative app or technique that could be used to achieve this effect. I have a Google Pixel 8 if that makes any difference. Thanks in advance.
