Stuck in Fastboot mode with "No valid slot to boot" after Magisk rooting attempt
For a Pixel 3a XL with an unlocked bootloader, I tried to flash a `boot.img` file patched by Magisk following [this guide](https://wccftech.com/how-to/root-google-pixel-3a-xl-using-magisk-tutorial/), using [`bonito-sp1a.210812.015`](https://dl.google.com/dl/android/aosp/bonito-sp1a.210812.015-factor...

After I successfully completed the whole process from "Step 2: Rooting Google Pixel 3a XL" section and rebooted, my Pixel became stuck booting with a "G" logo (and progress bar animating). I tried to fix it with these commands, which resulted in always booting in Fastboot Mode, error message "No valid slot to boot". ./fastboot flash boot_a "boot.img" ./fastboot flash boot_b "boot.img" ---- **How can I make my Pixel boot normally again *without loosing any of my user data* living on it?** **Alternatively, is there a way to back up all my user files from Pixel with eg. adb, given the broken booting?** ---- I'm able to boot in recovery mode if it can be useful.

I’m wondering if anyone out there who owns a **Pixel 3a XL** has ever tried to operate it without the battery. I'm asking *specifically* about this model of phone, and am not looking for general guidance like "it depends on the phone". I own a Pixel 3a XL and the battery has started to fail and has expanded as many lithium ion batteries will when they reach their end of life. I’m using it in an always on situation (which perhaps hastened the battery failure), and I don’t really need a battery as it will always have an external power supply when in use. Will it work if I remove the battery? Or is there any modification that I can do to get it to work in Android or via the hardware rather than installing a brand new battery? I wanted to ask the community before attempting battery removal, since as described in this ifixit guide: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Google+Pixel+3a+XL+Battery+Replacement/124631 it is quite involved. TIA.

My wife has a Pixel 3a XL, and in the last 2 weeks it has shut down unexpectedly 3 times, refusing to power back on. The battery is charged, and connecting it to any charger makes no difference. Holding the power button for 30 seconds fails also. The only thing that has fixed it all 3 times is by removing the SIM card and reinserting it. Then pressing the power button, the phone would magically boot up like there was never an issue. The 2nd time this happened, which was just two days ago, I tried powering it back on with the SIM card removed before reinserting it, yet it would still NOT power on. But as soon as I put the SIM back into the phone, pressed the power button, it powered back on. I'm thinking the issue is with the SIM card, but then after this test, shouldn't the phone have powered on with the SIM card removed, if it was the SIM card? This is very confusing to me. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

I ran into an issue with my Google Pixel 3a XL phone where it repeatedly crashed and rebooted. After looking into the issue, I remembered that the crashes started as soon as I connected to a specific Wi-Fi network. The issue began as soon as I connected to it. I tried rebooting in Safe Mode to see if that fixed the problem, which initially disabled all networking features, but as soon as I switched them back on, the crashes started again. I was able to stop the crashes by disabling Wi-Fi immediately after the next restart, forgetting the network it was trying to connect to, then re-enabling Wi-Fi. The issue seems to occur *only* when I connect to that *specific* Wi-Fi network; connecting to other networks doesn't create any problem. I was reading another help guide that said to reset the network settings to fix problems with it, but I doubt that will fix the issue as it just resets the saved networks. I already deleted the info about the problematic network by forgetting it, so I don't think this will resolve it. The network is an unsecured network, and is a public network (so I don't have access to router info, etc.) What could be causing the phone to crash and reboot when I connect to that *one specific* Wi-Fi network, and not any other network?

I have Garmin Swim 2. On my Pixel 3A XL installed Garmin Connect , it works fine. But I want also see data on Google Fit . Unfortunately Garmin Swim 2 doesn't connect with Google Fit and I need to install third party app do this. I installed Health Sync . Look like it's working: enter image description here But I don't see any activities in Google Fit where I didn't have my phone with me, for example swimming, sleep and so on. On Garmin Forum I found the following: > in Settings of Google Fit, under Tracking Preferences, Turn off " > Track your activities" Use Phone sensors to automatically track > metrics like steps and distance. Okay, I did this, but it didn't help. What I should do to sync Garmin Connect with Google Fit?

I recently flashed a local build of AOSP to a Pixel 3a XL. After rebooting and re-locking the bootloader I get the following error: >can't load operating system Any suggestions to resolve this? The steps which got me here: I downloaded and installed a factory image for 'bonito', flashed to the Pixel 3a XL, and after rebooting everything works fine. I then built and flashed AOSP from Build: QQ2A.200501.001.B2 with TAGNAME: android-10.0.0_r35 via the usual:
build/envsetup.sh
choosecombo 1 aosp_bonito user
m
and then:
flashall -w
The result is the error above. Any suggestions would be great!
