I'm thinking of buying an ARM laptop as a second laptop for programming and hacking experiments. Ideally I would set it up to multiboot Windows, Linux, and Android. I've seen several articles and videos on the internet for setting up x86 Android on an x86 laptop, but can't find anything on ARM laptops. I'm guessing it would come down to things like device drivers and maybe UEFI? Is it possible for a normal person to install Android natively on an ARM laptop intended for Windows/Linux? (And preferably dualboot/multiboot?) (I'm aware some highly skilled hacker types can probably do it using AOSP. I'm also aware I could just use a VM or emulator. For this question I'm only exploring the options of installing natively on the hardware.)

Are contemporary Android face-recognition implementations fully executed inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)?

The AOSP biometic guidelines state that for class 2/3 biometrics: > Biometric acquisition, enrollment, and recognition must occur inside > the secure isolated environment to prevent data breaches and other > attacks I can see this being feasible for fingerprint-based biometrics. But I'm quite surprised that the entire process of facial-recognition on for example, a Samsung smartphone is all happening inside the TEE. That would presumably mean image capture, detection of features, preprocessing, biometric template generation has all been ported to what I'm assuming is a resource-constrained environment, yet it typically runs within a fraction of a second. I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this niche area and confirm whether all the processes in the pipeline occur in a TEE, or whether there is in fact a hybrid system wherein some image processing is happening outside of the TEE.

My phone (Xiaomi Redmi Note 10, 2 years usage, the warranty just passed) suddenly shut down at 50% battery at normal usage when I clicked an app to open it and it will not boot up. I want to fix it myself due to privacy reasons, as I don't trust payed services and have experience in opening phones, but only to replace the screens. I tried to turn it on on safe mode - unsuccessfully. I tried to charge it but it didn't even pop the animation of charging. Nonetheless I left it for couple hours to charge and tried again - still not booting up. The USB connector is clean, dust-free and not loose. I tried different chargers. It is not detected by the computer when plugged in (checked in the Device Manager, Windows). I also called the phone from another phone to check if it's the screen's issue - I got "user out of service" message. I tried to troubleshoot the connector and it was a surprise to me: I own a MakerHawk UM34C USB 3.0 tester and tried it on my working phone - readings were reasonable, approx. 13W of charging power. I tried it on bunch of other devices, with correct readings. I also tested a device with physical on/off switch and the device showed voltage of 5V when turned off (charger voltage) and voltage + amperage when turned on (with propper readings). **So when I plugged it in the phone and if the connector were bad then I should have the same reading as in the device with off switch. But what I got was device (tester) restarting constantly without even showing me the data, as if the connection was ok but the phone "intentionally" disconnected it repeatedly.** This means that the phone recognises the charger and disconnects it immediately. What does it imply? Is it the software issue? I tried to open it like on the vid, using same tools but the glue seems to be too strong and it won't open so I can't check the battery itself without damaging the phone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PhC37fp4o7Y **How should I troubleshoot the issue?** These threads provided no help: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/171472/galaxy-s4-not-booting-up https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/247451/poco-m3-pro-5g-not-booting-up-after-unexpected-shutdown-it-does-not-charge-as-w

However, when I try to scan a card, nothing happens, and my phone don't see it, though, it had no problems with that before (maybe a year ago), and also another Xiaomi phone can read those cards with no effort. Yesterday I was repairing my screen, and also looked at NFC antenna and pins, that are used for connecting it to the motherboard, but nothing wrong there too. Maybe I'm missing some option in phone settings, that control that feature, and which I turned off with no purpose. *P.S. No software modifications are applied to my phone, bootloader is locked and have never been touched.*

What should I do if a brand new Android phone is overheating?
I brought 'Moto G24 Power' smartphone 2 days back. From day one it is overheating evening when I am doing basic tasks. I brought it from Flipkart online. There is no return, only repair from service center. Is there any heating problem with this model or is it an hardware issue? What should I do?

recently my Bluetooth on my OnePlus 7t can't hold connection with certain devices. For example when I connect my phone to my hi FI system after a few seconds it will cut out, and it does the same for a mobile speaker. Other phones work fine with these devices. So I thought, Bluetooth must just be knackered on my phone, but I can connect to my laptop and even my headphones normally, no problems. This started a few weeks ago, and I don't get any major updates anymore. I've done the basics, restarted my phone, reset Bluetooth and WiFi settings, forgot the device. But I really don't get why it will hold connection normally with only certain devices ? I've had my phones now for a few years.

I have a 16GB International Samsung Galaxy S3 (XEF) running the latest firmware, 4.1.2 (yes, the Premium Suite update, I was thinking that this would've fixed it but it seems not) with baseband XXELKB. Over the last week and a half, I've noticed my phone randomly freezing and/or restarting itself. I investigated further. At first, I thought it was to do with apps on the device, so I started recklessly uninstalling apps, to the point where I factory reset the device. No dice. Even with not a single non-stock app installed, it still managed to randomly freeze after a few hours of use. I went googling and discovered that my device is likely suffering from Sudden Death Syndrome, and I'm willing to think maybe I have that. Went through XDA forums, and found eMMC Check . According to that app, I have the affected 'insane' chip. There's a few quirks that I have, however: 1. Is this consistent with the Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) that people are reporting? 2. Wasn't this bug supposedly fixed with the Premium Suite update? 3. How do I go about fixing this, for someone who has never rooted/flashed a Android device before? 4. How do I go back to stock firmware/kernel after it has been fixed by Samsung? Any help, even if it doesn't solve my issue, will be much appreciated. Cheers in advance.

I woke up one morning to find my mobile (it's pretty beat-up and recently had a professional screen replacement) displaying "No Service". I'm now unable to use mobile internet, make calls or texts. Other connections, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc. are working fine. Here's what I've done so far: - Check that the SIM works > I've visited my network provider and have got a replacement SIM. This has been check that it works in another functional phone. - Checked that the phone detects the SIM > *#06# in the dialer correctly shows the IMEI number and when I go to SIM Manager, it correctly shows my network provider. - Tried to manually select network provider, but when I try to deselected "Select automatically" I get a "Error while searching for networks" message. - Reset mobile network settings > no change. - Factory reset > no change. - Used *#0011# to show SIM info > HPLMN(234-30F) sim_state(0), No Service, Final IMEI Certi: PASS - Used *#9900# → run cp based log → copy to sdcard, then found the *internal storage/log folder/err folder/ss_log folder/MIPI_TEST.txt.* All devices were detected Present(0) - Used the Samsung Members Diagnostic tool to check all hardware - came back all OK. - Disassembled and inspected for loose connections and checked continuity of antenna cables (the white and blue ones). Reassembled and rechecked phone hardware - still "no service". I've been through just about every post on this and tried everything. No idea what to try next. I'm suspecting hardware failure. No idea what to replace. Antenna module? Charging port module? Motherboard? Any ideas?

I’ve been experiencing a severe security breach where individuals have hacked into both my Android and Linux devices. They have access to all my online and offline activities, including my social media accounts, Gmail, WhatsApp, call logs, and SMS. Despite resetting my phone multiple times and enabling two-factor authentication for all my accounts, I am still unable to remove these intruders. I’ve also used the paid version of Bitdefender for malware protection, but it hasn’t detected any malware. I am confident that the intruders remain in my system. To check if my phone is still compromised, I posted a story on Instagram and used the 'Close Friends' feature to share it only with my other account. However, I discovered that the intruders were still able to see the story. Additionally, they have made comments about my personal online activities that they should not have known about. What further steps can I take to ensure that my devices are fully secure, and how can I conclusively verify that the intruders are no longer accessing my information?

So, can anyone tell me, is it possible to add drivers through USB with a computer?

I am trying to make some changes based on the parsed addresses of the camera drivers (.bin files) on my Xiaomi device running Android 14. For example, the operating frequency of a certain sensor mode or something. The values in the parsed excel file match the hex values of the driver. But the problem is that even a 1 byte change causes the camera to disappear from the system (I think the driver is not read), while a modified version of the same driver by another developer works as it should. What I want to know is there some kind of mechanism that checks the hash values of these drivers or the file creation dates? Maybe some kind of CRC verification etc.

Vertical Green Lines: photo of vertical lines on Samsung screen I've been collecting information from any resources as to how to fix those sudden green lines (there's another colour) on the screen that appeared out of nowhere. My phone is Samsung Galaxy A73 5G with android 14. Previously, it was android 12 when I bought it 4 months ago. It has never been dropped on a hard surface nor fell in the water. It even has no scratches. Some resources say it was because overheating that caused the green lines. I refuse to believe that. My old J7+ with the same brand never got any issue such as those green lines. I even often used it to play a game with a charger plugged in! If it were because of the overheating, then why was my old phone just fine? The other possibility is water. They say that the water could cause the green lines. I don't believe it either. According to this site , samsung A73 is water and dust resistant. I barely let my phone get water on it. I even never dropped my phone in the water. Even my old samsung without water resistant has ever been dropped in the water several times never got green lines! Some sites suggest it was because of the update. So, I'm preparing to downgrade my software from 14 to 13 with the hope that it will remove the green lines. But, of course I need some advice if this were a right thing to do, were it? I'm even starting to think that all those vertical green lines are just marketing strategy from Samsung to get more money by forcing the users to replace their LCD! That was evil!

I've recently completed a screen replacement on my Galaxy S20 FE. I got a new screen pre-installed on a frame, so the repair was to basically transplant all the internal components into the new frame. I followed this iFixit guide . One of the steps was to remove the battery for installation in the new frame. I soaked it in isopropyl alcohol and let it sit a few minutes. Aftewards I used a pick and the flat side of a plastic spudger to pry at the battery from the lower right side (looking from above): enter image description here enter image description here It wasn't too hard but it did take a few minutes and a few attempts. Afterwards, this is what the side of the battery I pried at looked like: enter image description here and zoomed in a bit: enter image description here **The question:** I know lithium ion batteries can be dangerous if damaged - do I need to be concerned about using this battery in my new frame? I reused it because the phone had been used for one year prior to this repair and the battery has 200 cycles, so it hasn't aged much yet. I suspect I'm overthinking this but I've seen spectacular videos of charged lithium batteries catching fire when damaged and I'm feeling uncertain now.

There are apps that can do this but they are not exactly Bothie. The app allows the user first to take a picture from the rear camera and then from the front camera (but not simultaneously). Nokia first came up with this idea in 2017. More about Bothie I am just wondering if this is a hardware feature or software. I can handle the software issue(with root) i think. And if this is not possible then can you please explain why and how it works (totally optional)? If this is possible then people will be able to take videos from both cameras (the poor cameraman will also be included in the clip).. and that would be pretty cool IMO =) Every little opinion or googling is accepted. Thanks in advance :)
