What are the differences between the two Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0" models?

I tried to factory reset via recovery mode but when I enter the recovery mode (by pressing power, volume up and home buttons) I only see the Android guy laying down with the exclamation point but without the menu options. How do I get the menu buttons?! That way I could reset to factory mode and it would be okay again! Thanks

I can't turn on WiFi and Bluetooth. MAC address and Bluetooth address also don't show up on settings. When I press the WiFi button (on the quick settings), it turns green for 3-6 seconds, then it turns back to white again (same as Bluetooth button). Could someone point me what's the cause and how to fix it?

I have been doing a lot of hobbyist electronics recently and was wondering if I can use my old Samsung Galaxy A5 duos phone, samsung galaxy core duos gt-i8262 and/or Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 3G in some of my projects. I don't have a lot of knowledge on android and was hoping I could skip having to learn android development, I was wondering if I can install a linux distro (like ubuntu touch) on these devices to simplify things, but my research so far heavily implies that's a no. What I basically want to achieve is as follows: - Use aforementioned devices (and their peripherals like camera, accelorometer etc) in my projects, running programs in a familiar language (like c/c++ or python), in a close-to-linux environment - If i can't use the peripherals, at the very least, I want to use the CPUs on these devices to execute a program - Preferrably, not use android or at least not a heavy OS to dedicate as much CPU and RAM to my programs as possible - These devices would be controlling other electronics of the project using a microcontroller such as arduino - To summarise, I want to get these devices to work as much like a raspberry pi board as possible (excluding the GPIO pins part) What I think are my options: - Building a linux kernel for these devices - Building a custom version of android for these devices - Just using the version of android these already have on them and somehow working on that To top it off, the catch with the Tab device is that it won't boot beyond the samsung logo screen, so I'm not sure if I can get around having to install some new OS onto it anyway. I know that phone manufacturers make it a lot harder for tinkering with the innards of their devices, so is it possible to have these functionalities on these devices? And are these the only options or is there a better way to go about doing this? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 default email attachment location
How can I change the default location on my Samsung Galaxy tab 4 for email attachments? When I download, say, a picture attachment it automatically sends it to internal device storage. I want to send my downloaded email attachments to my microSD card.

I got drivers from here: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/SM-T230NYKUXAR which is a slightly different number (has a U instead of M) but matches (ie. Samsung Galaxy Tab® 4 7.0 8GB, Black). I installed these and the device connected to the PC with no problems. Using Odin 3.07, it detects the device. I click the PDA button and select CF-Auto_Root.tar, then Start and I get this error:
Firmware update start..
 recovery.img
 NAND Write Start!!
 cache.img.ext4
 FAIL!
All now when I restart I get this message:
Now when I restart I get this message:
Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.
Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again.threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
I downloaded and installed Kies 3. When I run it, it says "The connected device is not supported by Kies 3". It should be, this is 4.4 KitKat. So I tried Kies 2.6, and it doesn't connect either. It doesn't give this error message, just keeps trying to connect but doesn't. What can I do now?

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (AT&T) bricked while trying to root
While trying to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 (SM-T337A), it now says > System software not authorized by ATT has been found on your phone Downloading the firmware through Odin didn't help. Aside from taking it to the nearest AT&T or Best Buy, is there a way to fix this by myself?

I would like to install TWRP on an encrypted device to make a backup and maybe reinstall firmware. (Samsung SMT-530) The reason I wanna do this is because when restarting, I am able to enter password to decrypt but will get stuck in subsequent samsung logo screen forever, without giving me chance to unlock device. And after some googleing the solution seems to be installing twrp and update firmware. The source for this solution says clearly that doing so will wipe out the device, and recommends to backup first. And I thought, and this probably will sound silly, I could make a backup via TWRP. When trying to go into recovery mode, and install TWRP from sd card gives the following errors. First screenshot is after going into recovery mode, second is error messages after trying to install twrp from sd card First 6 red lines of text after entering recovery mode last screenshot with error messages after trying to install TWRP from sd card Most probably this is a silly question, but could please anyone tell me whether it is possible to install TWRP recovery and make a complete backup without having to wipe out - Factory Reset my device ? USB debugging is off device is unrooted and have tried to find clear info via google without success.

I have a Galaxy Tab 4 SM-T230, but for some reason it will not turn on WiFi or Bluetooth. The slider goes green for 2 seconds then turns itself off. I have Googled this problem and it would appear it is a common problem, but for the life of me I can not find a solution. I have: - done a full hard reset - performed a restore from files saved in December - started tablet up in safe mode - I have removed the 32 GB memory card and powered down the device then started the device up without the memory card Despite all this, the Wifi and Bluetooth do not work. I am beginning to think this is a hardware problem rather than a software issue and assistance appreciated.

How to turn on Haptic feedback on Galaxy Tab 4?
I think I have searched in all the sub-folders for a place to turn on Haptic feedback on my new Galaxy Tab 4? I know it just barely came out, but for the life of me, I can't find anything remotely close to turning it on. Using stock Samsung keyboard and SwiftKey. Neither has helped.

I turned it on this morning and it was fine but it died. I tried turning it on later and the Galaxy Tab 4 logo popped up and it vibrated but the screen only turned on for maybe a second and then the screen went immediately black.

I have tried manually running the Update now, verified I am online, all that fun stuff. This is the WiFi Only version, so it is not dependent on the carrier releasing the update, and the other two that were purchased from the same vendor at the same time, updated just like they were supposed to, and are now at 5.0.2. What can i do to troubleshoot this issue? (Logs, check settings, etc)

The tablet works fine with "normal" use (internet browsing, taking pictures, recording video, using youtube, playing movies, writing texts, etc) but whenever I use it to play a game that requires me to hold a button down for a period of time (And occasionally pressing other buttons at the same time), it lets me hold it but then just stops responding to touch until I lift my finger up and place it back down again. The buttons I'm talking are of course touch buttons of the game. I went ahead and activated debugging options to see screen touches and coordinates, and it's clear that when this error happens the screen is not registering touches. At first I thought it was a hardware issue, but the I found other people having the same problem. This happens not in one game but in all the games I tested which require this kind of action (like league of evil) Any hint would be appreciated. Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 SM T230 Android 4.4.2

It is 7 inch, which is nice, but sometimes (for example, when walking) I would like to be able to hold my device in one hand and only use my thumb to interact with the app that I am using. Perhaps even change the resolution so that is like a regular mobile device. Basically I would like to have a way to run apps in a smaller resolution and have it not scaled to fit the display so that I can reach everything with my thumb using only one hand. See the image below for an example that i have in mind. *I have complete root access and am a developer (I don't really need 'simplified' answers, give me the tech details!)* explanatory image

We have a product that combines one Galaxy Tab 3 7"or Galaxy Tab 4 7" tablet, both wifi-only, with a Mikrotik RB951G-2hnd router. The Mikrotik has a hidden wifi network so we add it manually to the tablet. Most of the time it works great but for some reason, sometimes the tablet forgets the SSID of the hidden network. According to our costumers, this happens when there's a power cut and the tablet looses its charge. After the power comes back, the tablet won't connect to our mikrotik device. When checking the WiFi connections on the device configuration the network won't even appear on the list. This happens only sometimes in some tablets. How can the device forget a manually entered SSID?
