I was wondering how the water damage sensors work in Android phones? Water can irreparably damage the components and requiring entire component replacement. However, if I were to take an existing device that is prone to water damage (or at least some of its components are), and fill the back casing with water proofing gel ( the ones used to cover traditional electrical connections and solidify shortly after), will the gel before solidifying cause the same effect as water damage , given its higher viscosity ? Although my DIY plan may not make the device entirely waterproof (such as being able to submerge the device in bodies of water), at least it makes it water resistant enough to torrential rain where I live in. I would imagine that could hold the connector cables and battery robustly in place as well, with having to dig the solid gel for battery replacement. There also seems to be no videos online doing benchmark tests and experiments on devices

I know this has been asked a lot before, but stuff like adb shell wm size wouldn't work. Is it possible to stop touches from this area alone without reducing the entire screen size? I'm willing to root it if that would help.

I have a Poco X3 Pro with a broken screen (the screen doesn’t turn on, it’s just dimly lit in Fastboot and during boot) due to water damage, and I need to control it from my PC using scrcpy . The phone is unrooted, and I can’t access the UI due to the broken display. I can temporarily install TWRP (even though it reverts after reboot). I want to use scrcpy to control the phone, but to do so, I need to enable USB debugging (Security Settings), which I can’t do without access to the screen Here’s what I can do: - The phone can enter Fastboot mode, and I can temporarily install TWRP. - USB Debugging is already enabled. - USB Debugging (Security Settings) is disabled. (Xiaomi devices require this toggled on ) to be able to use scrcpy - I have no access to the screen or UI. Before making any changes, I’d like to back up all my important data (apps, system data, personal files) or do a full-phone backup as a precaution, in case the process is risky or anything goes wrong during the procedure.

So my Phone is a "Alcatel" and i honestly didnt know what type it is. Yesterday night. I accidentally dropped in into my running bath water, being clumsy. i quickly grabbed it and attempted to dry it off. At first it was fine and The microphone and camera wasnt working so i thought it would be okay (Ive dropped my phone in water before). SO i set it down, About maybe 2 minutes later I went to check my phone that i had plugged into my charger to see the screen not working. I could see and turn it on but the screen itself isn't working. Then next thing i know my phone died, which scared me becouse it was at 25%. I turned it off and put it in a bowl of rice, ive only checked it once sense then. I dont know what to do, im scared i damaged my phone

**Question Recover data photo video from a dead water damaged android phone** I have a old android mobile which was kept on table on which glass of water falled and water entered the mobile as its battery was attached (unremovable battery) inside I couldn't remove it I desambled and unpluged the battery wire and kept the open mobile for three days in sun and then connected and swtiched on it vibrates with no display. I went to service center they without looking to it said to change motherboard and cost of motherboard is more then the new mobile then I went to local guyz they said whole mobiles display screen motherboard battery all will be changed and declared it dead damaged after 5-7 hours testing r&d I had important data in it. I tried to find motherboard of mobile online or any old same model same company old model second hand mobile I founded a old second hand mobile working but following before buying I have questions in mind 1. Can I recover the data from damaged mobile if yes how 2. If same mobile screen or board is available then can the data internal memory be fixed into another mobile 3. As the mobile is dead and vibrating can we boot into bootloader or through adb commands can recover from pc connecting mobile. If yes how 4. How can we get the data from the damaged mobile any how any trick or experts advice 5. If display screen is changed of damaged mobile then is it possible to recover data 6. if motherboard of the damaged mobiles is changed and as the storage chip on main board then is it possible to recover data Additional UPDATED Just now after 6onths i again unscrewed dissambled the mobile is didn't saw after taking from local engineer now a bad news the battery is swollen and is useless to power charge them it's now working As the mainboard/ display/battery if bought all new spares will cost is more than mobile cost and heavy I have option to buy another second hand old mobile of same model and try to replace or test my old water damaged mainboard with second hand working mobile phone and test if the data can came out becuase the engineer said display battery and board all have to be replaced ... I again unscrewd dissambled the mobile is didn't. Heckled after taking from local engineer now a bad news the battery is swalen and is useless to power charge them As the mainboard display battery if bought all new cost is more than mobile cost and heavy I have option to buy another second hand old mobile of same model and try to replace or test my old water damaged mainboard with second hand working mobile phone and test if the data can came out because the engineer said display battery and board all have to be replaced ... **My question is if I replace swap the new second hand same.model.mobiles mainboard with my old damaged mobile and if it works fine and if not then is there chance to shot the display or battery or other parts to (if my water damaged mainboard is shorted damaged) then will it damage the display of new second hand mobiles mainboard to while testing or will the other mobile work if done carefully**

(If this is the wrong place to ask this question please tell me.) I am in a bit of pickle right now. It was quite rainy where I live, so when I took my phone (Huawei Y6 Elite Android 5.1) outside it fell in some water. It worked initially - I dried it and all. Then, at the end of the day I powered it off. I was trying to watch some YouTube, but then I couldn't power it on. I am 15 years old, and **my dad gave me the phone (which used to be his) so I just said I'm going to charge it to him so he wouldn't be suspicious.** OK, so GOOD NEWS incoming. Whenever I charge it, it shows up with the 'charging' screen. I tried charging it for 1 hour and it wouldn't boot although it would show the charging screen. Tried to put it in a bowl of rice for 1.6 days - took it out and still nothing. I'm panicking right now as my dad would absolutely **kill** me if he finds out what I did to my phone, I need help ASAP. Some of my ideas is to try to charge it for some more time and pray to G-d that it boots. Another idea would be to tinker inside the components and dry them. I need other ideas immediately. I am quite worried. Thank you StackExchange - you have helped me with many issues at StackOverflow and I'm sure you can help a good friend out with this too.

I want to have a waterproof phone that I can realiably wear when I am windsurfing. During a session it might get wet and might sink for a few centimeters for a couple of seconds from time to time. I bought a **refurbished Huawei P20 Pro** for the purpose, **IP67 waterproof**. I had watched videos on Youtube where it would be under 1.5 meters water for 15 minutes and still be working fine. After a short session on the water with this phone, where it got wet but never sunk, the next day the phone was **dead forever with water damage**. I imagined that, being refurbished, it might have been hacked by the previous owner. I got my money back and bought the same phone again, also refurbished. This one was really new, in the box with all the gadgets. I took it on a session, this time in a cheap "waterproof" pocket. At the end of the session, there was some moist in the pocket. Next day the phone was dead forever. Again. Was this hacked too? I don't think so. I got my money back and bought a **refurbished Samsung S9**, which is **waterproof IP68**. Now. I am not going to bring it with me on the water until I am sure it will survive. I could buy a IP68 protection for it but wouldn't it be overkill and actually nonsense (IP68 + IP68 = IP68) and maybe still let water in? Are these videos on Youtube realistic? Maybe 10 minutes after the video the phone becomes useless. **Are the IP67 and IP68 certifications reliable** for general public phones? I am sure they are when it concerns professional equipment. Thanks for your thoughts

I dropped my Samsung galaxy s7 in water. It was submerged for less than 10 seconds, I turned it off within 30-60 seconds after that. It was working properly when I pulled it out of the water and while I was wiping it's surface dry, and I also managed to shut it down cleanly. I've wiped the audio jack opening and the USB port with a thin piece of tissue paper and also dried out any openings with a hair dryer. On hindsight probably shouldn't have done that, but it's already done. I've pulled out the sim card, and at least the sim card slot looked completely dry inside. It's since been turned off and is completely covered by dry rice. How much damage am I looking at? This is the first time I have had water problems with a phone with an unremovable battery, and it doesn't look like I can do much else with it at home. Should I take it to a repair shop anyway and have it opened and dried? I don't know how much it would cost, and since it is an old phone anyway I don't know if it'll be worth it if they ask too much. Since the phone seems to be pretty water resistant I am wondering if I can just brush this off. How much damage can I expect? If the phone turns on, charges and works normally is it safe to continue using it as usual? I am okay with keeping it under rice for 24 hours or more if that's necessary. When is the earliest I can turn it on again?

Today I got to work and was talking to my sister on it and it turned back off and has been doing the same thing it did the day I dropped it in the toilet with the exception of it will turn completely back on, but when I go to text someone or do anything with it, it turns right back off.

Sometimes I need to have my phone shut down as fast as possible. In older phones I was able to remove the battery, but after some "innovations" this feature is no longer present. Is there any better option than using casual shutdown and waiting for long seconds until it gets down? It is especially bad when I pour water on my phone and the touchscreen refuses to work.
