I've found numerous guides online on how to fix the missing OEM unlock toggle on Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G960U) running Android 10. I've been able to follow all steps except for the last one before rebooting the phone. And that step is going into software update and unchecking ***download updates automatically*** and checking ***download updates manually***. The problem is that those options don't exist!
I can only tap on ***Check for updates*** and there's a grayed-out option that says ***Continue update***. I don't know if this is true, but I think it's the same as going into developer options and switching off ***auto-update system***, which I was able to do.
Either way, I still wasn't able to fix the missing button, even after following this guide I was just talking about. I've seen other guides and they talk about the same thing that this one does.
Can someone help me unlock my OEM unlock button, please?
---
As of now, I played around with my phone and found out the reboot to bootloader option in the menu after starting the phone with **power key + volume up + Bixby key**. I didn't know what that was going to do but when I selected that, a light blue screen came on and said
downloading... do not turn off target
. There's an option to cancel it, but I want to see what happens.
Maybe I didn't have a bootloader at all? (sounds crazy because I need a bootloader to start my phone, so maybe it's downloading something else?). In either case, I'll keep this question posted with any new info.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S9+ running android 10 (Kernel version 4.9.186, #1 Thu Mar 31 15:49:59 KST 2022.)
Recently I'm finding various applications having display problems where the applications's main text display pane just looks blank though the underlying contents are still there.
For instance, in my Joplin App , I see a note's category and title, but the body of the note is missing. This is the case for every note. My synchronization works and I know the content of the note is there because copying it to a different app works fine. It just doesn't show up here. See the screen shot below. Further, there seem to be no complaints in the JoplinApp community regarding this. The back button, menu and drop-down at the top all work fine.
The same is true for TheFreeDictionary application, the built-in dictionary app, and I think others.
I'm running the latest release versions of each, and my OS indicates that no updates are available.
Anyone else seeing this, know why it might be happening, or how to fix it?

I've done a factory reset and now I'm being required to enter password or use a Google account. I can do neither. I've attempted to use the apk after the reset, but the tablet does not see the usb device. File manager does not open when I plug it in. Is there any way to factory reset this? Samsung support is horrible so far.

I have read [this question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/205042/is-there-a-way-to-completely-disable-all-bixby-functionality-without-rooting-the) and realised that it is outdated.
With the most recent android update for my Galaxy S9, I have no way to disable the Bixby button out of the box. Previously I had to sign in to Bixby, Then go to setting and disable the button there. Afterwards I could remove the samsung account and had no issues at all.
**How can I get rid of Bixby/disable the bixby button without rooting the device?**

TL;DR: is it possible to manually force an update of the time-zone database on a reasonably modern Android phone?
I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+, running Android 10, and one of the things that lives on my home screen is a dual clock showing the time in Mexico City. (The widget comes from [Digital Clock Widget](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.maize.digitalClock) , the developers of which have informed me that they pull the time-zone information for a specific location from the local Android device's database.)
Since last April, the time on the Mexico City clock displays incorrectly. As of this year, [Mexico no longer uses DST](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time_in_Mexico) , but my device's database seems not to have received an update with the news.
Is it possible to force an update of this database to pull the updated DST rules? Is it possible to do so without requiring root access? (I'm aware of Time Zone Updater and other apps that do require root, but that would break other apps.) If it's possible, how can I do it?
([This related question](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/104962/how-to-update-timezone-data) asks how to do the same, but on Android 4.2, and I understand that the timezone handling is radically changed from those days.)

The status bar at the top of my Samsung S9+ does not show the am/pm after the time. The picture below was taken at 3:23 pm local time but you would not know that unless I told you. It could be 3:23 am. If I were using a 24-hour clock, I would expect that there not be an am/pm. However, my time setting is for 12-hour clock and could have an am/pm. How do I add the am/pm after the time?
Some may say that I can easily tell whether it is am or pm... just look outside. That may be true at 3:23 am or pm. However, at 8 pm during the summer time, the sunlight is about the same whether it is morning or evening. I would have to walk outside to find the sun and then know. During the winter time, 6 am and pm is completely dark. There is no sun to help me know.
Let's say I am very tired during the winter and start a nap at 4 pm. I wake up at 6. I do not know if I slept for 2 hours or 14 hours. Most likely I slept for 2 hours but it depends on how much sleep debt I have.

The Samsung Daily screen was automatically added to my home screens. It appears when I scroll one step extra to the left. That happens sometimes and I do not wish this information to come up.
From what I read as a solution to this problem, you change a setting when you are on the screen. However, all I get is this error message about a network problem. My network is working fine. When I dismiss this error message, the Samsung Daily screen disappears.
How do I remove Samsung Daily?

In response to this [zero-day vulnerabilities for certain Exynos chipsets](https://9to5google.com/2023/03/16/google-exynos-modem-vulnerabilities/) , I tried to turn off VoLTE on Samsung Galaxy S9 running Android 10 (build number QP1A.190711.020.G960USQU9FVB2) but couldn't find the setting under Connections -> Mobile Networks. This phone runs on the USA AT&T network. (Thanks for the tip that G960U doesn't use Exynos; even in G960F which does use it, the model is not affected.)
But I did find the setting to turn it off in another Samsung Galaxy phone, an A20 running Android 11 that runs on the BoostMobile network (which I believe uses the AT&T network as an MVNO). Again, although this phone [does use Exynos 7884](https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a20-9640.php) it may not be vulnerable, going by the [list of chipsets provided by Samsung](https://semiconductor.samsung.com/support/quality-support/product-security-updates/) .
**My question**: What are the factors affecting the ability to enable/disable VoLTE? Is it based on the OS version, the chipset, the provider, or the location (dynamically, based on the presence of LTE there)? It seems that [for some MVNOs it cannot be turned off](https://www.androidcentral.com/volte) ?
Another way to pose the question is in terms of technology. In areas where 4G is the only network (since [both AT&T and Verizon would have turned off their 2G and 3G networks by now](https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/plan-ahead-phase-out-3g-cellular-networks-and-service)) , **do ALL voice calls over 4G network are necessarily voice over IP**? If not, does turning off VoLTE means simply that you cannot use data while making calls?

I need to display a portrait-mode app from my Samsung Galaxy S9 on a horizontal PC screen. The PC screen is able to rotate to portrait mode, but the problem is that the image rotates with it. The image is always displayed horizontally in regards to the PC screen. This means that when the PC screen is horizontal, the image is displayed in portrait mode in the middle of the screen, covering only a small "pillar".

When I rotate the PC screen to portrait mode, the image rotates with it, leaving the same "pillar" covered (though now rotated 90°).

What I need is for the image to be displayed in portrait mode while the screen is in portrait mode (meaning the image is rotated -90° when the screen is horizontal, making it utilize the entirety of the screen).
I've contacted Samsung, and they say there are no settings on the phone that allows me to do this, so I'm looking for an alternative solution, such as an app or other third-party clients. I've also read somewhere that I have to root my phone (and change some codes?) in order to achieve this, but that seems way too advanced for me. Alternatively, I could use my old Huawei P9, if that helps.

Notice that's not a zero; it's two parentheses. That's literally what appears in the settings. However, the phone must **think** of it as a zero, because the screen goes dark immediately when I'm not touching it (and then I have to enter my password again).
This setting change also happens if I have the Power Mode in "Maximum Power Saving" and I switch to a different Power Mode. I don't think it happens in Safe Mode.
This started happening a few months ago. It also happened with my old Galaxy S7; my solution was to get the S9. (JK, I had other reasons too.)
EDIT: Yes, Cody: I can set the timeout to any value, but when the phone restarts or comes out of "Maximum Power Saving", the timeout is reset to "**()**".

I recently switched phones for the first time in several years. My vague recollection from past switches was that it was fairly smooth. Here is what happened this time.
I switched from a Galaxy S9, Android 10, to a Galaxy S9+, also Android 10.
After starting the already factory-reset S9+ I entered my Google account details and followed the prompts.
Said prompts led me to use Smart Switch, which I have used several times in the past. Texts, call logs, screen background, icon placement all transferred successfully in a few minutes. The phone then finished installing all the apps and that was it.
But soon I noticed that no app settings have been transferred; this ended up cascading in a couple hours of looking for passwords, re-loading my credit cards in my pay apps, having to manually backup some apps, and even having to call the IT department at work to reset the MFA settings and register the new phone. And several minor problems with other apps.
All in all, not terrible but it was quite a task to be fully functional again with the new phone. My original plan was to switch phones again fairly soon, and now I'm dreading that moment. My question is, did I do something wrong? Is there a way to have a smoother transition between Samsung phones?
