Previously I had a Nokia 7.1 (Android 9) when I started to notice this issue. Every few time, the older images I had on my Download folder disappeared without I doing nothing. From time to time it happened again. I let this pass. Every time that ocurred, I manually download the images again, because I needed to have those images there. Today, I have another smartphone (Multilaser MS50X, a brazilian cellphone with Android 8.1) and exactly after a month of started using it, the older images of my Download folder disappeared again!!! I've checked some apps that I think it could be doing something like that: * Google Chrome (downloads data to this folder) * Google Photos (sync and backup images) * File Manager + (access to data and folders) * Quickpic (gallery app) But no one have an option to "automatically delete Download folders content after a while". I don't have any Clean App, neither use the function "Free up space" of Android. Also none of those cellphones had an option like "storage booster" or "smart storage" like state on this thread: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/165200/android-phone-automatically-deletes-photos Any clue where can I look? It's annoying Regards Update: When I open Google Photos, go to 'Photos on device', and select 'Download', I can see all the deleted images (the images that should be on that folder and it doesn't)

I've been using Textra for many years. I'm currently on Textra version 4.80 under Android 14. I recently learned that Textra keeps its own internal database of SMS and MMS messages and uses that in conjunction with the Android device's message-storage database ... and possibly even instead of the device's message-storage database. I have set Textra to keep only 25 SMS for each conversation and only 10 MMS for each conversation. This ends up being a total of a bit more than 400 messages total. And I have specified numerous times that Textra delete extra message storage, which Textra always says is successful. However ... when I examine my device's SMS/MMS actual message storage, there are several tens of thousands of messages being kept, most of them being very ancient. I want to totally and completely and permanently get rid of all SMS messages that are older than 25 per conversation and all MMS messages that are older than 10 per conversation. I have used Textra's "Resync Textra" function, and it does not get rid of any of those tens of thousands of ancient messages. All other SMS apps still see all of this huge quantity of messages. And if I ever change the SMS app, I want all other Android SMS apps to not see tens of thousands of ancient messages in the SMS/MMS database which I am trying to delete, and to only recognize the 400-or-so messages that I want to keep. How can I clean up my SMS/MMS message storage so that only the 400 or so messages remain for Textra and for all other SMS apps, with all of the other older messages being totally and permanently deleted? **UPDATE**: It's important to me to use an SMS client which allows me to also record and send and receive voice messages directly from the message client (not voice-to-text). As far as I know, Textra and Google Messages are the only clients which allow this. And Google Messages does not offer the deletion-of-old-messages function that Textra offers (I'm talking about the deletion-of-more-than-25-SMS-and-10-MMS-per-conversation that I mentioned above). Therefore, my options for switching to something other than Textra seem to be quite limited. **NOTE**: I got rid of the "Further Update" section that I had previously written here, because now I solved this problem in the "Answer", below.

I have a Nokia 5.4 which keep frozen at the start up screen. (I have asked about it here , if you want more details) As there isn't even a factory wipe option in the recovery mode, it seems it is not usable again, so I have bought a new phone, and I am thinking what to do with my old phone. My old phone was my primary phone and it has all sort of important data in it (e.g. work email, bank login, etc) I have backup on those data, so I don't mind losing those data, but I cannot risk having those data exposed. If I would like to sell my old phones for parts, to make sure those data will not leaked in case the buyer is skillful enough to repair it, is there a way to wipe those data before I sell it?

How does WhatsApp's Delete For Everyone work for photos?
In WhatsApp, when the sender deletes a photo for everyone from their side, does it permanently deleted from my phone, or are they still there on my phone? If it was there, are they recoverable by the data recovery app downloaded from Play Store? The phone is not rooted.

Make Telegram delete a picture when it pretends to delete it!

The least you can ask of a program, that it does what it claims to do. You take a picture inside Telegram, send it and immediately delete it. However it was not deleted at all. A copy of the picture always remains in the folder of the phone:
/media/org.telegram.messenger/Telegram/Telegram Images

If you delete it only for yourself an additional copy remains in the cache folder:
/data/org.telegram.messenger/files/Telegram/Telegram Images
This means:
- deletion for yourself: 2 copies remain
- deletion for both: 1 copy remains However, the user has been deceived into thinking that the image has been deleted. Imagine Telegram shows that your message was sent, but it was not. Similarly, if it shows that an image has been deleted, but it has only been removed from the chat window. There are several security issues: 1. The user has not given permission that local copies can remain after deletion. 2. The user is after deletion not warned that copies remain. 3. The user cannot disable this behavior (at least I could not find a way). 4. The user has to manually delete the files in the folders every time he takes a picture if he doesn't want an unwanted copy. This makes the application useless for such users. 5. Data garbage is created. How can I get Telegram to do what it claims to do? *Notes:* - Deleting the cache within Telegram is not a solution for several reasons. It does not prevent local copies from being saved, it just manually removes them afterwards. Clearing the cache affects all files in the cache, not just one. It does not delete all copies of a given image, the copy in the first folder remains. - Of course, even after deleting a file, the problem remains that in some cases a file can be recovered. Conversely, this would mean that nothing needs to be deleted at all, as it might be possible to restore it. The issue of deletion by overwriting is not discussed here. - The question addresses only the following protocol: first taking a picture within telegram, then sending and immediately deleting it, all done by the same user. - Secret chats are not discussed. - Since it is not open source, hacking methods or manipulation of the source code are not up for discussion. **Edit**
The problem was submitted to Telegram (Link ). However, the text was too long and it was advised to upload a file instead. They only accept only image files. So I had to send a screenshot of my text. Telegram v11.7.0 (5663), Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0.3.0.VMXEUXM, Android 15 AP3A.240905.015.A2

I'm trying to delete a file Android will not let me delete it. Trying to use Termux, I can't seem to find the file. I used termux-setup-storage, and per the instructions entered: cd /storage/sdcard0/FilesAndFolders And get bash: cd: /storage/sdcard0/FilesAndFolders: No such file or directory I'm working with Android 11, and I am a real novice at this. I can't figure out what file path they want. Suggestions? Even though I'm using: rm -rf [directory name] it still comes back saying the Directory is not empty. No command I try deletes this file. The file name at the end of the string has a black diamond with a question mark on it. I tried SD Maid to no avail, Termux didn't work. I'm considering a factory reset as my only option. The file is a .mp4. I tried *.MP4, but no luck. I've tried deleting the folder and the file in every way I could find. I traced the file from the tree, sometimes it tells me the file doesn't exist when I can see it in the tree. Is there any way to delete this file?

A number of things can be deleted unwantedly in households where people share a phone or have a person taking care of another person and as such grab a hold of their phone, regularly. I wonder whether there is a way to set up, globally, fingerprint confirmation for all deletions of anything on the phone (and requiring fingerprint confirmation to remove such support if desired). This could be a solution to the problem. I am tired of having WhatsApp messages, emails, documents, and other files on the system and in the cloud removed unwantedly, just to get back to that later, and find it is not there. Where can I find this solution in the settings?

My mother is a disabled person. She can't go out due to health issues. Her Android smartphone is the only way to communicate with the World (my brother, who lives abroad, her relatives, her friends etc). While she's not an advanced smartphone user, she plays with the phone a lot, what ends up with apps being deleted, contacts being blocked or removed, new unneeded subscriptions and so on. And she even does not realise, that she does all these (she says “the phone did this by itself”). This creates a lot of problems for me and nurses as we need to install and fix things all the time. Is there any app, like a launcher, that can help dealing with this? I mean, at least the app should deny deleting apps, what is, probably, the biggest problem. Another contact/phone app, that would not allow blocking contacts, would be handy too. That's another big problem. I thought about setting up Family Link, but, as far as I know, it does not prevent apps from being deleted. I considered also kid's launchers, but they usually limit, what can be launched, and I need to limit “management” functions. Note, that I don't need a launcher for elderly, that makes things big and have a simple interface. I need an app to prevent some actions like deleting WhatsApp and don't care if this is simple to do or not.

I'm not a great expert but as soon as you delete something trim is already working in the background, you should turn off your phone immediately to have even the slightest chance with chip-off, ten days is a long time. (regardless of whether my phone is Oreo with FDE by default, let's just talk about trim) thanks

Software: - Microsoft Outlook App on Android - Microsoft Outlook for Windows, version 2007 I currently have a work account which I have synced with my Android, and for some reason, all of the calendars I've ever accepted on my work's account (and deleted on my desktop) are still showing up on my Outlook App on my Android. Aside from being annoying (given that all their respective reminders are still popping up), I have on many occasions accidentally added a new reminder onto an old calendar which, if isn't a "shown" calendar, ends up hidden and I never know about it.
