I have a Nokia G42 5G with Android 13.
A week ago, a notification popped up, asking me to download the latest update (and also that that update was a week behind). Since the size was 2.67 GB, I decided to close the notification at the time; I would install it later. A quick search afterwards revealed that it was an upgrade to Android 14 .
When I went to download it later (from Settings → System → System update, then Check for update), it keeps showing “Your system is up to date”. This is how it has been since.
Now, I know that that is not the case because
- there was that notification,
- someone I know uses this very device (model) and they have already upgraded (means, it has been released in our location/market), and
- one could check from Nokia’s Website that that update has been released.
**My question is: how can I get that update?**
I have installed Google Play system updates and what not. I have also cleared the ‘System cache’ app (don’t know what this app does) from Settings → Memory. I have tried using both WiFi and 5G data while the device was charged to full.
**What else can I do?** May be allow unrestricted data access to some app? May be clear some cache to force fetch that update? I won’t flash a custom ROM but I am willing to reboot to safe mode or connect to a computer to clear some hidden cache or run some code.
Technically, it seems to be possible to postpone updates ; the system will fetch them later . **Is it possible to reset that waiting period instead of waiting it out?** (If that has been the case; my device is my own, not managed.)

On a related note: I recently had a run-in while installing the 2024-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5034765) update on Windows 11. It downloaded, started installing, computer restarted, it installed all the way to 100%, and then rolled back with a
. This happened quite a few times. I tried all kinds of solutions from all around. At the end, it turned out that all I had to do was rename/remove the

:\$WinREAgent
folder . And it worked in a snap!
So, I know that software work in mysterious ways!

I have a Nokia 5.4 which keep frozen at the start up screen. (I have asked about it here , if you want more details) As there isn't even a factory wipe option in the recovery mode, it seems it is not usable again, so I have bought a new phone, and I am thinking what to do with my old phone.
My old phone was my primary phone and it has all sort of important data in it (e.g. work email, bank login, etc) I have backup on those data, so I don't mind losing those data, but I cannot risk having those data exposed. If I would like to sell my old phones for parts, to make sure those data will not leaked in case the buyer is skillful enough to repair it, is there a way to wipe those data before I sell it?

I was using my Nokia 5.4 phone, but suddenly it restarted itself and cannot get past the "Nokia" screen (normally it would fade out and get into the Android system).
I have tried restarting my phone many times and the problem persist. I am able to get into the Fastboot Mode and Recovery Mode, but there is no option to factory reset at all.
In the recovery mode, there are only 3 options:
1. Reboot system now
2. Enter fastboot
3. Power off
And there is no option to factory reset in fastboot as well. In fastboot, there are 4 options:
1. Reboot system now
2. Enter recovery
3. Reboot to bootloader
4. Power off
And in bootloader, still no factory reset. There are 4 options:
1. Start
2. Restart bootloader
3. Recovery mode
4. Power off
I have already bought a new phone, but I would like to see if there is anyway to save this phone. All my important data is already in the cloud, so data loss is not a problem, and I may try some riskier method. Is there anyway I can make this phone work again?

I have recently taken my (UK) Nokia G50 to India for a vacation, and as a result, now any time I press the power button three times in quick succession, it calls the emergency services. This is apparently required by Indian law, and, per both my own experience and the grumbling of people on forums elsewhere, the feature sometimes stays enabled after you leave India.
At least on the G50, it is (absurdly) implemented independently of and in parallel to the normal *Settings* -> *Safety and Emergency* -> *Emergency SOS* feature, which is off by default and uses 5 presses instead of 3. Indeed if I turn that 5-press feature on, then select the "Try demo" option from that settings page, which promises "this is a simulation. No emergency actions will be started.", then three presses into my attempt to try the "demo" the phone *actually* calls the emergency services.
Obviously, I would very much like to turn this stupid feature off; given that I constantly need to press the power button twice in a row in the course of regular usage of the phone (either to open the camera app, or just to turn on the screen to check the time and turn it off again), and that it frequently lags for a second or two in response to such a press and makes it appear not to have registered, it ends up being *way* too easy to accidentally register one extra press and end up calling the cops (and I have been doing so around once a week).
How can I disable the feature? *Can* I even do so, on a G50?
There's a [past question](https://android.stackexchange.com/q/203972/123188) about disabling the same feature on a OnePlus phone, but the answers don't help me with my G50, because one involves OnePlus-specific settings pages that I don't have and another requires root (which I can find no non-sketchy-looking guides on how to get on a G50).

I have a Nokia 7.1 that had some existing photos, videos and other misc files.
I added a micro SDXC card and accepted the option to use it as internal storage, with the option of migrating the existing data.
The phone completed the process and still works, however the photos and videos etc. are unable to be opened.
Interestingly, new photos can be accessed for a brief period of time before becoming inaccessible.
The files show a high entropy when anaylsing them with jpeg recovery tools.
This leads me to believe that the files are being encrypted, however they are not being decrypted.
The device has not been reset, this happened without taking the SD card out of the phone.
The fact that files are being encrypted makes me think the device could still have the keys required to decrypt the data.
Is there anything I could try to decrypt the files based on this scenario?
**EDIT:**
Just to add some clarifications based on comments:
- The phone still works which makes it unlikely to be a bad card
- There's no custom encryption software installed
- Malware is unlikely, the process of using the card as internal storage led to the issue
**EDIT 2**
Any possible solutions for me to try would be most welcome

My relative put a PIN password on his Nokia C110. He forgot the password and cannot get into it.
I have tried to factory reset the phone, holding volume up and power, holding volume down and power (which showed fastboot mode at the bottom of the screen, but I am not able to click on it or highlight it). I have tried to contact the carrier for the phone and everything they told me to do, I had already tried and it isn't working. If I hold volume up and power, it either stays blank or keeps popping up the android logo.
What can I do? I tried to use Find My Device through Google and it can't even trace the device.

I've been using the Synology Drive app to sync folders between several PC's and Android phones. I recently got a new Nokia G42 5G (Android 14), which needs the same folders syncing. However, on the Nokia, the Synology Drive app would be flaky with syncing, having to manually open the app and run the sync tasks, which should run automatically. I got fed up with this and moved to Syncthing instead, only to find it has the same problem.
Syncthing has an option to 'start service automatically on boot', which the Nokia simply ignores. Opening the Syncthing app manually immediately causes the sync tasks to run. I can't see any power settings on the Nokia that might be preventing the app from running. I've also tried a third-party app 'Boot Apps' to run Syncthing on startup, which hasn't worked.
This does not occur on my Samsung A22 5G. Both of these apps run happily in the background and I never have to touch anything.
I've come to the conclusion that 'auto start' is broken on the Nokia, it would explain why both Synology Drive and Syncthing don't work without manual intervention. Any ideas as to why the Nokia is unable to start apps at startup?

I have seen this question several times but have not found an answer helpful to me. I am new to Stack Overflow and cannot comment, so I am going to ask it again. I just copied someone who asked the same question with a few changes.
I have a new phone (Nokia C110), but it's locked from Google's "Find My Device". I locked it because I lost the phone, then I recovered it. I lost the "Find my device" password. Once you lock it the password field disappears off the app and there is no way to put a different password in or delete the old. Is there any way to unlock my phone without erasing the data?
P.S. I must have spent 6 hours today searching for an answer. Half were about how to do a factory reset because google locks the phone so tightly you have to go through hell even to do that! It won't let me go to settings, I don't have a pattern lock or camera on the main screen, and the google log in screen doesn't come up when I start so all of those solutions are out. Like one of the other folks who asked the question, I didn't have any password on it originally.

This is not something I stored, but it came with the phone. It's not editable. Or deletable. It's also not part of the "Emergency Information" stored in "Settings -> About Phone".
That is blank in my case
---
So I want to disable/delete/edit the "Emergency Call" number. Is there a way to do this? I know about Call Confirm apps, but I don't want to use it because that would enable "Confirm" for every number - which I don't want. I don't pocket-dial any number except this one. And it happens 5 times a day.

Recently, I changed my phone to Nokia 6.2 with Android 11 system and I find a new feature that is really user-unfriendly to me. In my old phones when I press and hold on the text in an address bar(or any place where a long line of text is displayed in a single row), I can slide the line of text to find the exact part that I want to edit, but this doesn't work in my new phone, for when I hold on the text now, a magnifying window will appear (as showed in the screenshot below) instead, and I cannot make the texts that's not fit into the screen appear.
This is really annoying. Is there any way to disable this useless magnifying function?

I've found a gateway to a possible solution:
I've now installed VLC Media Player, which allowed me to change the audio output from **AudioTrack** to **OpenSL ES** (which I presume are some kind of codecs or audio libraries). With OpenSL ES the issue is now solved.
Now the question becomes: Is it possible to select OpenSL ES system-wide as the audio output system? Or is OpenSL ES perhaps only available in VLC, because they've embedded it in their app?
----
Original problem:
I recently bought a Nokia 1.4 32 GB phone, with Android Go (which I updated to version 11).
Today I wanted to listen to music for the first time. I plugged my headphones into the headphone jack, but the audio coming from the headphone jack is just terrible:
As I start to play a song, for the first second the audio sounds rich and full as it's supposed to sound, but immediately after that the sound loses its richness and continues to sound flat, flaky and tinny. It's almost as if some kind of automatic volume limiting is applied, but done in a very poor fashion.
Now, I have no expertise in audio, but my intuition leads me to believe that this more likely points to a software rather than a hardware issue. Or am I mistaken here? Could hardware audio components (maybe a hardware codec?) cause such issues as well?
I've tried three different music players (YouTube Music, Pulsar and Musicolet), each with and without turning on an equalizer, but the same thing happens every time. I've also tried to disable MusicFX, but that doesn't appear to do anything.
My headphones are cheap Sony earbuds, but I have no issues with the audio coming from my previous Android phone (LG 3G S), nor from my PC or laptop. I don't have a Bluetooth or other type of headphone, so I am unable to make a comparison.
What could be the cause of this issue and is there anything I can try to mitigate this issue? Perhaps install another or update existing software audio codec? Or am I hard-pressed to solve such an issue with an Android phone (of this caliber)?
