How to pause a movie using Video Player (Galaxy S)?
Galaxy-S (Vibrant), Android 2.1 I was watching Avatar the other day and paused it. When I played it again later, it restarted at the beginning. Is it possible to resume play from where I left off, or bookmark a position or something? Or is there a different/better player that does this?

I can do change any other aspect of the event, and even delete the event, but I can't move it to a different calendar. I can change the calendar from the Google Calendar web page, though.

Get full log of a whole day from Android
I know of the method of using `adb logcat` to receive logs from an Android device. However, the logs I receive are, at best, only 1 hour old. I need the logs for the whole day, however. Is there a way for getting the logs of the whole day, or am I restricted to this?

The first recommended step in [the installation of CyanogenMod on Samsung Galaxy S](http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_galaxysmtd) is flashing a custom recovery like ClockworkMod or the one from Replicant with a command like: heimdall flash --kernel path/to/recovery.img Now I feel that the instructions might be misleading: I have done the first step wanting just to have a custom recovery mode, without proceeding to replacing the main OS on the device. It seems I have done that wrong, because the device now always boots into the recovery mode. What would be the correct heimdall command to just install a custom recovery system without touching the main system?

When I successfully copy my music to my SD card, each song only plays for a second and then continues onto the next song. I was able to remedy this by copying each song over individually, but obviously this is untenable in the long-run. Might this be an issue with my new SD, am I copying too fast, or what else might it be? I was able to replicate this for skipping to the center of a song. I can't hear an entire second, but it does seek to the center of the song and play a bit of it. If I try to go back to the beginning of the song after every skip, the Music Player eventually crashes. For any of the mp3s with these issues, if I restart my phone it deletes these songs .

I'm new to android development so apologies if this is a stupid question. I'm having trouble seeing my android devices in Eclipse. I've switched on USB debugging, configured them to connect as a camera not mass storage, but when I run ./adb devices, there's no device showing, even though I have a Samsung Galaxy and a LG Nexus connected via USB. On both phones I get a notification saying "USB debugging connected" and "connected as a camera" so the phone obviously thinks it's connected. The problem appears to be intermittent. Sometimes the Galaxy shows up: Macbook:~/workspace/android-sdks/platform-tools ./adb devices List of devices attached 3334AB246B5300EC device Then I unplug and reconnect it, and it disappears. I've tried 3 cables and 2 devices now. Should I just give up and use an emulator instead?

On the Galaxy S9 (and I presume later versions, though I don't know for sure) there is a "mute all sounds" setting that can be toggled by pressing the power and volume up buttons simultaneously. While this can be quite convenient, it's also very easy to either forget to disable it, or to enable it accidentally in the first place, and then you miss important alarms and notifications until you notice. Is there any way to get a visual indication when mute all sounds is enabled, such as a status bar icon or making the perimeter glow a certain color? Yes, I know that you can _check_ whether mute all sounds is enabled by pressing either volume up or volume down, which will show a greyed out volume bar with a caption that says "Mute all sounds is turned on" if it's enabled, but I'm looking for some kind of visual indication that alerts you that it's enabled when you're not actively thinking to check.

I have read every forum and every "help" site on Samsung's website and all over the internet. Nothing has worked. I bought an unlocked Galaxy S i897 on ebay, originally an AT&T phone but I'm using it on T-mobile. Is this potentially the problem? I've tried 2 different cords, only charges, never recognized in any Kies version and never recognized by PC like step 3 on this page says it should. http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?faq_id=FAQ00045584&fm_seq=46246 Extremely frustrated at this point. I don't think calling t-mobile can help because the phone was AT&T. Samsung probably wouldn't help either because I bought it on ebay. Unless you think they would, then let me know. I just want to add music and transfer files back and forth, backup contacts, etc., and most importantly update my firmware (currently has Froyo).

Currently, when I connect my bluetooth headpones to my phone, the volume is extremely low, even when the volume is set to the maximum level. For reference, I am using the following: - Bose QC 35 II headphones - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra The sound issues seems to be present in audio apps (i.e., Spotify, Audible, etc.). Audio during phone calls does not seem to be affected. Initially, I thought that it was something wrong with the headphones. However, when I connect another set of bluetooth headphones (a pair of Westone earbuds with the bluetooth cable), the same issue is present. I have also connected the Bose headphones to my wife's phone (same model) and the issue is not present. I have also connected the Bose headphones to two different laptops and, again, the issue is not present. This leads me to believe the issue is with my phone. The question is whether or not there is some setting that has been altered to cause this issue. I am aware of the "Disable absolute volume" setting that is mentioned in various blog posts. This setting is currently enabled but seems to have no affect on this issue. I figured I would ask here before performing a system reset to see if that helps in any way (which is kind of a pain).

I am very happy with my Galaxy S, which I have had for about a year now. Recently I noticed that some of the installed applications seem to lose data. Because I do not know the file system nor the inner working of an Android device, I will give the specific apps in the hope that someone recognizes this or at least can tell me something to try. 1. The first program I noticed was Friend Caster . This is a (very good) Facebook client which worked fine for some weeks. But now I have to, at least once a day, re-enter my user ID and password. The technical staff helped with some things to try (related to the Facebook integration), but nothing helps. 2. The second program I noticed was Business Calendar Free . Every once in a while (and I really can't put my finger on why) this program starts up as if it is just installed - i.e. it produces the start help screen, and I lose the settings I chose (f.i. the chosen colours for Saturday and Sunday). Although the installed and active calendars are kept. Also, the widgets of this program, stop updating themselves, which is rather useless for a calendar widget, of course :) I have lots of other programs installed, and all of those seem to work correctly. None of them has an obvious function which could cause this. *Samsung Galaxy S - GT-I9000 - Firmware 2.2.1 - Kernel 2.6.32.9 - phone is not rooted* The problem can be specific to those two programs, of course, so I also installed both of them on my son's Galaxy S, on my wife's LG, and on my Archos 101 tablet. None of these phones present the same problem. **UPDATE** I have upgraded my Android version to version **2.3.3**, but this has not solved the problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. **UPDATE 2** I received the following answer from the nice guys from the Business Calendar support. Can anybody verify this (or knows a solution to the problem): > This is a well known problem on some Samsung devices, since the update of Android version 2.2.1. **The settings of some apps are not saved permanently**. Once this problem occured, this will happen again and again. > > As the problem seems to be caused by a bug in Samsung's version of the Android OS I am afraid to say that we can't do anything against it. We hope that Samsung is about to fix the reason of this in the future. Maybe you can contact the Samsung support, that they hopefully accelerate working on that issue. > > So unfortunately your device is affected by this problem. Some people told us that a factory reset helps them out of this really annoying problem, but I won't guarantee for anything. That's up to you.

Nothing works. > > > I am at a loss right now... I really want to avoid resetting to > factory mode because my phone has a ton of data stored on it. Any > ideas on how I could solve this? This was also true for my S8, Android 9. Though, every time it says "You are _ steps away from being a developer..." and then asks me to put in the password and then says "Developer mode has been turned on." I can repeat this many times and it will ask me for the password every time and say the same things every time and the developer options are still not there. I am equally at a loss to the OP and I'm equally unhappy about the current only solution of a factory reset. Help would be greatly appreciated!

I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S22. It runs Android 12 and One UI 4.1. What I am trying to do is use a custom notification sound for my text messages (Google Messages). I want a custom sound for one specific person and another for everyone else. I had this previously on my Galaxy S8. Unfortunately this does not work for me. I have added the sounds I wish to use to my phone's storage. This includes custom ringtones. Those do work as I am able to select them when choosing a ringtone. I can see them in my list of available ringtones. But the sounds I have added for notifications do not appear in the list of available notification sounds. I have tried placing them in the following locations: - /root/sdcard/Notifications - /root/sdcard/Ringtones - /root/sdcard/Android/media - /root/sdcard/Android/media/Notifications It's this still possible to do? If so, what am I missing?

This is not the case when using an iPhone. I saw https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/16313/minimum-volume-is-too-high-with-headphones suggested getting an inline volume control. Will this only work for music or phone calls as well? I have tried equalizer apps like Fine Volume Control but these work only for media and not in-call volume, which is my main issue.
