How to pause a movie using Video Player (Galaxy S)?
Galaxy-S (Vibrant), Android 2.1 I was watching Avatar the other day and paused it. When I played it again later, it restarted at the beginning. Is it possible to resume play from where I left off, or bookmark a position or something? Or is there a different/better player that does this?

Whenever I come across a page with an embedded YouTube video and press play then the sound will be heard but the video will be blank (a black screen).
The controls work just fine - it's just that I don't have any video.
If I attempt to rotate the phone to landscape, then the video will briefly show just before the screen is rotated and then go back to being black again. Sound will continue to play just fine. If I attempt to rotate the phone back to portrait then the same thing happens again.
This problem occurs in Chrome, but also in any apps where the browser has been embedded (eg. Feedly and Facebook).
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) running CM11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-i9300.
Is there any way I can resolve this?

Videos won't play after transfer to SD card
I'm using Samsung Galaxy S10e on Android 12. I took several screen recordings using the native function. Moved many to SD card using "Files by Google" app. Moved them separately in groups of 1-3. Some of them are playable, some are not. As pictured, the ones with blank thumbnails are unplayable. [

I would like to backup over 100 GB of photos and videos stored on an Android phone to a local external drive (SSD or HDD). Unfortunately, the Android phone does not have a microSD card (which would make this task trivial). I do not want to upload anything to the cloud.
As a first attempt, I connected the Android phone via USB 3.x to a Windows 11 box using the MTP protocol. I also connected an external SSD via USB 3.x to that same box. I configured FreeFileSync to copy the desired folders, and began the copying process. After about 5 minutes of process stabilization, FreeFileSync reported that it would take another 2 days to complete the operation! That's no good.
What's the fastest way to complete this task? It's important that, if possible, file timestamps are preserved (in addition to Exif timestamps, of course). I would prefer to use a Windows 11 box for the transfers, but I can instead use a Linux box if Windows is the problem.
In this particular case, the Android device is a Google Pixel 6 phone, but I would like to be able to quickly handle the same task for other devices, including Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Sony phones.

When watching video in fullscreen in landscape and plugging in my charger, the video changes to portrait. When unplugging my charger it goes back to landscape again.
Why is this happening?
I'm using a Zenfone 9 (Android 14) and have tested with Firefox (watch YouTube fullscreen) and DRTV app watching in fullscreen with same results. I remember having encountered the same issue on my last phone as well, but haven't tested yet (Sony XZ2C, Android 10).
(At first I thought it was an intermitten issue with Youtube or Firefox, but then I figured out it was related to when the phone was charging and reproduceable with other apps.)

On Samsung devices, where does the OS save video file for the wallpaper?
I've noticed that even old Galaxy phones have this feature, that I can choose a video file to be a wallpaper. I think it works only for the lock screen for some reason. Does anyone know where the file is saved? Does it require a rooted device to reach it?

When media are received through WhatsApp groups and contacts, they are stored in the storage and are available for the media scanner to list them. When I view the
WhatsApp videos
folder in MXPlayer, I see the videos that I received through WhatsApp.
Occasionally, when I see such an interesting video or image, I forward it to some people or groups, but later to realize that I received it through them. This strikes only when I open the chat history to see the same media sent by someone else.
**Question:**
In this situation, I want to find out the sender (or the group) without opening and scanning the WhatsApp messages to avoid this embarrassment. I guess the file naming convention only helps to find the date and time.

I know that it is possible to play YouTube videos faster than 2x on laptop and desktop using extensions available on Google Chrome. However, these can't be downloaded on Android device.
I have already searched for this on Google and YouTube and some videos suggested using another app which plays those videos faster. But all the apps I have downloaded so far either only allow up to 2x speed or can speed up only those video files which are already downloaded on device, and I can't find downloaded YouTube videos on device (it only opens in YouTube).
Is there any way of playing YouTube videos faster on Android?

Since recently the phone i have been using for about 2.5 years has developed an issue with it's audio and video codecs.
Videos won't play in the Google Chrome app, in the YouTube app, not in Whatsapp or Telegram either. Downloaded videos won't play from the gallery except when i use VLC app (Which is known for having it's own codecs bundled).
Audio won't play either, i don't hear a ringtone when i am being called, when i set an alarm for in the morning it goes off but only vibrates (no sound), and music players either don't play the song or skip through all the songs at a fast pace.
I am not debugging something i wrote, this is my phone's system failing on it's own. I tried to unlock the bootloader 2 years ago but never got any kind of special access to the system. I also didn't get any updates on the system since i bought the phone sadly.
I used ADB to get the error logs from me setting an alarm with default ringtone, and it confirms a codec error like i suspected (vorbis codec this time, but other codecs also have the same issue):

This goes beyond what i know about Android system, but a full reboot seems to fix the issue temporarily but this is not a good way to make sure your alarm goes off several hours later..
I pasted the full ADB log in a pastebin for those interested.
What can i do except do a hard reset or buy a new phone?

## (some) more info ##
I have been able to use adb
and ffmpeg
to do the following:
1. use ffmpeg to remove "data streams"
nn.ffmpeg -i PXL_20241011_171852306.LS.mp4 -map 0 -map -0:d -c copy PXL_20241011_171852306.LS.no.data.mp4
which removed all but the audio and video data.
it reduced the size of the video (21 seconds of FHD resolution) from 37MiB to 32MiB
2. use adb push
to push a)
the created file ....no.data.mp4
and also b)
an exact copy of the original file named ...copy.mp4
back to the Google Pixel 7a
3. On the phone I used the "file manager app" to create two copies of the files inside the /sdcard/Pictures
folder (as only this way the files appeared in the "Google Photos app"
This showed that the copy shows "equal as the original video mp4 file" while the ....no.data.mp4
version has the following differences (prosummed to be hence in the data streams):
* the date the video was taken is gone it is shown by the file modification date (i.e. file's unix mtime
)
* the "Shots available" is gone

My Samsung Galaxy S8 alerted me that the storage was critically full and may result in data corruption or failure to boot.
I immediately deleted some apps to free up 2GB. But I am worried that it may have taken steps without my knowledge, such as clearing / disabling recently deleted (an issue as my screen was bugging and may have deleted by ghost touch without me knowing) or automatic lossy compression (an issue as I require some images to not have any compression artefacts). I am also concerned that the 2GB free may be a result of these optimisations, or whether it is a reasonably consequence of the handful of apps I deleted, plus the alert being given when there was already some storage free.
I have two main questions:
1. are either of those issues likely?
2. how can I check whether these optimisations have been implemented?

I have a Pixel 7a with the default/built-in camera app, which sometimes makes a short video when I take a photo. (I believe in iOS these are called "Live Photos" and maybe Google call them "Motion Photos"?)
Anyway, one of these little clips that it made is kind of fun and I want to share it. But when I use the share panel it just wants to give me the main still photo instead of the video clip. I found the "Shots in this photo" but again that is just individual stills.
Is there a way to share the *video* that it shows on a loop, as a video without choosing individual photos?
