Open YouTube links from Facebook Messenger app in the Youtube app

I am unable to play YouTube videos from the links I get on my Facebook Messenger app.
Here's what happens:
1. A friend of mine posts a video link to me (YouTube link) as a message on Facebook.
2. I receive it on my Android mobile in the Facebook Messenger app.
3. I click on it and it shows a dialog box (you can call that a pop-up) which asks me to choose an app to open the video with.
Now earlier, there used to be video player apps on my mobile along with the internet browsers installed on my mobile that used to come up there. So I would select an internet browser, and it, in turn, would re-direct me to the YouTube app itself.
However, now, I am only getting video players in that dialog box as an option to open the YouTube video, but of course, if I select them, they are not able to stream the video.
Has anyone found a way around this problem? It is really bothersome.

Whenever I come across a page with an embedded YouTube video and press play then the sound will be heard but the video will be blank (a black screen).
The controls work just fine - it's just that I don't have any video.
If I attempt to rotate the phone to landscape, then the video will briefly show just before the screen is rotated and then go back to being black again. Sound will continue to play just fine. If I attempt to rotate the phone back to portrait then the same thing happens again.
This problem occurs in Chrome, but also in any apps where the browser has been embedded (eg. Feedly and Facebook).
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S3 (i9300) running CM11-20141115-SNAPSHOT-M12-i9300.
Is there any way I can resolve this?

# Preface: A warning for parents
If you want to protect your kids, disabling Incognito mode is usually not enough. If your kids are under age 13, it's wise to use a [good filter](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/117394/on-android-how-to-disable-google-chromes-incognito-mode) to block the YouTube app and website altogether. You can then switch them to [YouTube Kids](https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/378644/youtube-kids-is-cleaner-than-regular-youtube-sadly-i-havent-found-any-metho) .
To prevent late-night video viewing, and to avoid the [late-night reluctant messaging problem](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/117394/on-android-how-to-disable-google-chromes-incognito-mode) : At night, you can take away your kid's laptop. And you can configure a [bedtime](https://www.salon.com/2019/04/28/how-to-turn-kids-phones-off-at-night-or-anytime-really_partner/) for her phone and tablet. This will also make it harder for her to secretly use Facebook and games overnight.
# Background
The official YouTube app for Android includes an feature called ["Incognito mode"](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9040743) . I'd like to prevent myself from using this mode, in order to discourage myself from viewing risqué content.
I'm logged into a [Google Family Link](https://families.google.com/familylink/) "child account". Family Link has automatically disabled Chrome's incognito mode. Unfortunately, the YouTube app's incognito mode still works fine.
My phone is not rooted. Please assume that, if necessary, I'm willing to root it.
# My options
I assume my options include:
* To downgrade to an older version of the YouTube app, from before the feature was rolled out.
* To disable the app altogether. (If I still want to watch YouTube, my only remaining options will then be to use a web browser or a third-party YouTube client app. The website works quite well in both Chrome and Firefox Mobile. Maybe some of the third-party apps work equally well; I haven't yet tried many of them.)
* Or to contact the Family Link team with an enhancement request.
# My question
Do I have any options other than the three options mentioned above? For example, can you offer me some instructions for modifying the decompressed YouTube .apk file contents, or can you suggest some other options?

I have the following 3 devices:
1. a Nexus 7
2. an iPhone 4s
2. a Yamaha RX-473 , which supports airplay
All are hooked up over my wifi. I've setup Airplay with the amp and the iPhone, allowing me to watch videos on my iPhone and hear the sound out of the Yamaha amplifier, but I'd love to use the Nexus 7's larger screen to watch youtube videos.
Is there any way to wirelessly stream youtube audio from my Nexus 7 to my Yamaha receiver, in the same way that I can using my iPhone?
I purchased the AirSync application, but it appears as though that only works for music and video I have on my Nexus 7, not streamed youtube apps, so its not exactly what I'm looking for.

Faking the Android version from a Samsung Galaxy Tab to counter Google's planned obsolescence policy

I've been used this mint Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 purchased on eBay for a fraction of its price, more specifically, to listen YouTube videos on an Aiwa NSX-SZ80E system with a Bluetooth adapter added by good self, and everything worked just great. Too good to be true, I'd say.
However, Google has unilaterally decided now to render this tablet obsolete overnight by disabling YouTube on it, and suggesting me to "switch to youtube.com" as shown:
The question would be, **exactly how** can I edit my tablet's Android version number to **simply replace "6.0.1" with "9.0.0"**, effectively bypassing this Google's artificial obsolescence policy in the most elegant and straightforward manner possible?
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. If flashing the complete tablet with new, unstable, untested and unreliable firmware is required, I'll do it gladly, as long as it allows me to **bypass Google's policies of rendering my tablet useless overnight just because they can**.

I have an Android 15 device (Pixel 6) with the Gmail app.
My default browser is Brave, and I do not want to change it to Chrome.
I received an email with a link to a YouTube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkP4JF5X6Fc&t=1s .
When I click the link, it opened up Brave to https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UkP4JF5X6Fc&t=1s (on the "m" subdomain).
Why didn't it open the YouTube app directly?
1. How can I fix that behavior?
Android > Settings > YouTube > Open by default > "In the app" is already enabled.
Even worse, when visiting a video at https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UkP4JF5X6Fc&t=1s on my Pixel 6, when I clicked the "open app" button on the page, it said "this site can't be reached" and has "intent:" in the url.
2. How can I fix this intent problem?
https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/244621/how-to-make-youtube-urls-open-in-youtube-app-rather-than-browser-updated-for-2 no longer works for me.
I don't see a menu for Brave > Settings > Site settings > Media > “Video playback in Brave”

I know that it is possible to play YouTube videos faster than 2x on laptop and desktop using extensions available on Google Chrome. However, these can't be downloaded on Android device.
I have already searched for this on Google and YouTube and some videos suggested using another app which plays those videos faster. But all the apps I have downloaded so far either only allow up to 2x speed or can speed up only those video files which are already downloaded on device, and I can't find downloaded YouTube videos on device (it only opens in YouTube).
Is there any way of playing YouTube videos faster on Android?

After the Android Youtube app updated a few days ago on November 7th 2024, I have been having these two problems:
- Pressing back arrow from video view, the mini player disappears outside the screen but audio keeps playing.
- After pausing the video, it refuses to continue.
I see from Google Play reviews that some other users are also having these problems, but not all. In case it matters, I'm using Oneplus Nord CE 5G and running OxygenOS/Android 13.

I have many YouTube accounts, and signing in and out is inconvenient. That's why I use different YouTube Vanced for different YouTube accounts. At present, I have three YouTube Vanced: version pink, blue, and this one of which I don't know the name.

I need another version of YouTube Vanced other than these 3 for my other YouTube account.
I can't use apps like Dual Apps to make a copy of YouTube Vanced because then signing in won't work. I have also downloaded many versions from the internet but in the end, I found them all similar to my previously installed versions of YouTube Vanced.

None of these work for me. I am on pixel 8a android 14. On whatsapp the youtube links such as youtu.be is forced to open on internal browser of whatsapp. Even though in **open by default** menu under *Settings/Apps/Default Apps/Opening links/youtube* has options set to open in supported links.
Is this getting blocked from someplace else? Or has apps like whatsapp or facebook or firefox hijacked the ability to open youtube links directly in youtube.

Since a few weeks now whenever I open a YouTube link from WhatsApp, the YouTube app is stacked on top of WhatsApp, instead of it switching to the YouTube app as a separate app.
This is unhelpful because now I can't use the recents screen to go back to WhatsApp, but I have to click Back once to exit the video and once more to exit the home screen on YouTube to come back to the WhatsApp conversation.
Can I have the old behavior back? How?
I'm using Android 14 on a Galaxy S23+
This doesn't happen when, for example, I open Chrome by clicking a link from WhatsApp.

Apps such as YouTube and Netflix use the X protcol to conect to smart TVs so you can send (a link to) the video you're watching to the TV, and it starts playing on the TV right away. I'm looking for something like the reverse of this: if I've started watching a video on the YouTube website on my Ubuntu PC, I'd like to have that start playing on my tablet (e.g. so I can take it with me to the kitchen as I cook). Ideally, it should start playing on the tablet at the same point I was at on the website.
The simplest workaround I can think of would be to use the "Watch later" playlist to save the video, and then open it on the tablet. That's quite long-winded, and I'm hoping there's something easier.
