I am using a brand new Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. When Facebook Messenger is installed, it works fine. But if I need to reboot aka turn off the phone, and turn it back on, it seems 2 main problems come along.
In the screenshot where it now says chat bubbles and there is a switch to the right. After a reboot, this changes into just bubbles, and the switch is no longer there.
**First problem**.
When this happens, it seems like messages from some people just don't come in. No notification, and even if I open the conversation manually, there is nothing new.
For some people, I get a message saying something like "A message had been sent. It may take some time for it to arrive." Or "a picture has been sent to you." And for some people, it works fine.
**Second problem**.
On the chat bubble (the conversation), I need to see a number, showing how many new messages in this chat.
After reboot, it just shows a small dot indicating 1 or more new messages.
I need to see the number for my group chats.
To revert it back to the way it works and I like it, I have 2 options.
- Uninstall and reinstall Messenger.
- Or open Settings and empty cache. This is a bit easier. But I still have to log back into the app and reset most of the settings.
After this is done, it seems the lost messages that did not come in before, now is here.
This happens every time I reboot, but I think it happens sometimes while the phone is on. I can not say for certain, but it is a problem.

I am unable to play YouTube videos from the links I get on my Facebook Messenger app.
Here's what happens:
1. A friend of mine posts a video link to me (YouTube link) as a message on Facebook.
2. I receive it on my Android mobile in the Facebook Messenger app.
3. I click on it and it shows a dialog box (you can call that a pop-up) which asks me to choose an app to open the video with.
Now earlier, there used to be video player apps on my mobile along with the internet browsers installed on my mobile that used to come up there. So I would select an internet browser, and it, in turn, would re-direct me to the YouTube app itself.
However, now, I am only getting video players in that dialog box as an option to open the YouTube video, but of course, if I select them, they are not able to stream the video.
Has anyone found a way around this problem? It is really bothersome.

So this is happening for the last 2 weeks. Whenever I (short) press the home button on my Galaxy S7 (on Android 8.0.0) specifically in the (facebook) messenger app it registers as a long click (opening the google assistant until i disabled it). I'm not sure if it is a messenger problem since Im sure I had this happen in the playstore app as well but cant replicate it right now (so right now its only happening in messenger app). I played around with the Tasker and Automate apps around the time this started happening, but I have also uninstalled them around that time. Might just be a coincidence. I have tried reinstalling the messenger app but that didnt help.
Does anyone have any idea what could cause this or at least give me some pointers on how I might troubleshoot it?
Edit: definitely happens in other apps as well but still mostly in messenger

Facebook Messenger - Why can't sync be enabled?
Until recently I was using Messanger Lite, but it was moved to Facebook Lite, so I started using "classic" Messenger. Unfortunately, it doesn't work well. However, the reason is simple. In **Settings -> Accounts and backup -> Manage accounts ->** Messenger synchronization is not enabled. [

Is this something I have done? The phone is _not_ rooted, nor have I unlocked the boot loader.
Apart from wiping the phone is there anything I can do to get the app installed? (I'm aware of all the 3rd clients, but I would really like to solve this problem.)
The app was installed before the upgrade to Android 7, but an update would not install.
I have done the usual steps like restarting, empty cache and data of Play Services, etc.
This is not a duplicate of https://android.stackexchange.com/q/88214 , which was supposed to be solved with an upgrade to Android 5.0.2. I am running Android 7.

Could that possibly be me being hacked or is it just a system malfunction?

- Is there a way to turn off image and video compression in Facebook Messenger?
- If not, is there any app/extension for sharing original quality images and videos that is convenient to use both for me and the receiver?

I only use FB Lite and the Messenger Lite app on my phone, so FB and the Messenger app are useless to me.
However, they cannot be uninstalled, only deactivated.
But I found out that after restarting both apps are reactivated. Of course, Android isn't Windows, so I don't need to restart it often (basically almost not at all), but it's still annoying.
Also, it didn't do this on the previous phone, but there was One UI, so it's probably related to "stock" Android (specifically version 12)
Please help
Thank you
PS. The problem phone is a T-Phone , but like I said, it's probably purely OS related.

I have received several text messages from person A. The name and phone number were correct. Today, I received a text message from person A. Facebook Messenger has the correct phone number, but all text messages from person A now are listed as coming from another name. All other messages/senders in Facebook Messenger seem to be correct.
I have a Samsung Android phone. My contacts are in Google Contacts. I checked my contacts and both person A and the other person have the correct information. Facebook Messenger has permission to access the contacts. It seems to work for every other message. It seemed to work fine up until today, when it decided to change the name of the sender. I have restarted the phone, and the problem did not go away.
As far as I can tell, there is zero connection between the two contacts. Two distinct people who have no relationship with each other. Phone numbers from different area codes. They do not have the same email provider. Their names are not close/similar. They do not work at the same company. etc.
I have never heard of this type of problem, and I don't really have any ideas as to how/why Facebook Messenger changed the name of the sender, but still shows the correct phone number. Any ideas/suggestions?

How can I stop the redirection?

Not quite the best experience to start typing on Android. Any clues? settings?

I am using a Galaxy A41, Android version 10 maybe (honestly i can't make sense of the version indications in the Software information tab.)
Recently when i go to Phone -> Contacts (or Address book, i'm not sure of the translation) ; the phone will randomly display a popup asking me if i want to synchronize my phone contacts with my Messenger (im guessing facebook messenger) contacts. I don't want to do that ever, and i don't want to be asked for that.
Is there any way I can stop that popup from ever showing up ? I tend to use my contact list a lot, and it's becoming annoying to have that invasive and unwelcomed functionality trying to force itself upon me each time I want to make a call. I already tried to got to Settings -> Accounts -> uncheck Automatically synchronise datas (i don't use that at all apparently).
Thanks !
edit : Here is a screen capture of the popup - name of phone contacts are blurred for privacy concerns. The popup reads :
> " Activate Automatic synchronization ? To synchronize your
> contacts and keep them up-to-date on all your devices, activate
> Automatic synchronization for Messenger. Cancel | Activate"

Actually sometimes I want to use the internet on Android but don't want to get the notifications from the social media apps like WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger Instagram, Telegram etc.
So what I tried to do was the following settings on my Android phone (Oppo A5 2020):
Setting -- Sim card & Mobile data -- Data usage -- Network permissions
And then find the required app and disable its network permissions and disable the network permissions completely.
My Question is That: Why I still get the notifications from these app? Although when I open the app, it asks me first to allow the network permissions.
For example, when I disable the network permissions for Messenger, and after that, If someone send me a message on messenger, I will get the notification (with message showed in the notification bar) and when I click on the notification, it will lead me to messenger app. But As I opened the app, I see the notification:
"Network is turned off for the messenger. You can modify it in Settings - Sim card & Mobile data - Data usage - Network permissions "
First I thought it might be because Facebook is connected to messenger, so only disabling data access to messenger will not be enough for Messenger to stop sending the notifications. So I tried for both Facebook and messenger, I still get the notifications from messenger and Facebook, then I thought Instagram is also linked to Facebook, So I disabled the data access to every single app of Facebook in my Android, but still I get the notifications. Can anyone know why is that so?
**Note: ** As I know I can mute notifications for chat from every app. But in this Question, By not getting notifications means I want the person who is sending texts me on social contact forms like messenger and WhatsApp that the message is not yet delivered to my Android phone. For Example: If someone send me a message on WhatsApp, I don't want the double tick in his mobile.

This morning, the alarm did not wake me up.
When I change the ringtone, I cannot hear how the new ringtone sounds (the phone is still silent) but I get the message
> Unable to play during call
My conclusion is that the phone did not sound when the alarm went off earlier this morning because the phone was "in a call".
An alarm should not be blocked by anything (and there was no call).
How do I fix it?
I closed apps one after another and when I had closed facebook messenger, I could hear ringtones again.
But as long as the phone thinks running a particular app makes it being "in a call" and as long as being in a call blocks the alarm sound, the question remains.

I don't know if an update occurred, but a number of days ago now (maybe since the FB outage), my FB Messenger messages on the Messenger app (not the Facebook app, or Facebook for Desktop) are not coming through when my phone is locked and the screen is off for awhile (even like 15 minutes or something). When I unlock my phone I don't even get them. It's only when I open the FB messenger app that all the notifications come through and pop up at once . It seems to only be FB messenger that's affected. I get Google Calendar Reminders and Text Notifications. They are coming through immediately and just fine on Messenger.com and Facebook.com .
Completely cleared the cache/data for Messenger and uninstalled/reinstalled the program. Makes no difference. I haven't changed any battery settings or restricted anything. Do not disturb is not on.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
