Phone alarm clock apps are great, you can set as many alarms as you want, with whatever sounds you want at whatever volume you want.
Physical alarm clocks that are sold are way more limited. Maybe 2-3 sounds and maybe 2-3 alarms that you can set max.
I don't want to use my actual phone as my alarm because that's too distracting. Instead I want to turn my own android into a dedicated alarm clock.
Feature:
- no access to any apps
- a good (free) alarm clock app
- a way to make it always on display that's dim at night and brighter in the day.
Questions
- What are ways to accomplish some/all of this?
- Is there a way to jailbreak it with an alarm clock OS or something like that?

It used to be possible, a few Android updates back (can't remember which Android version), but not any more it seems, at least not out of the box.
I've tried the stock Clock app, Ovo Timer and Timer (by Opoloo). In all three cases alarm signals are only played as expected while not making a phone call.

Disable "Upcoming Alarm" Notification (without disabling alarm)

Note that I _do not want to delete the alarm_, just this notification about it.
.
I know this isn't a *huge* issue, but it's just more annoying notification clutter that I don't want. What's weird is, I've apparently found the settings to change this behavior - but the toggle is disabled and I can't modify it.
Is there another way to do this that I'm missing, or a way to enable that toggle?

I always use battery saver (unless my phone is charging), and neither the alarm nor the timer has ever failed me. How exactly may battery saver "degrade [my] alarm experience"? Does it affect some fancy features that I don't use? Or is this warning essentially incorrect?
I found [several](https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058250500/alarm-clock-battery-saver-may-have-degrade-your-battery-experience) [web](https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS23/comments/128mpj6/battery_saver_may_degrade_your_alarm_and_timer/?rdt=36755) [results](https://brainly.com/question/32168966) , none of which were helpful.

Android's alarm app offers a feature to read the current/latest news from selected sources. It consists of text-to-voice for today's weather and appointments and a collection of different news podcast by the actual publisher.
This feature starts as soons as you stop the alarm. But sometimes it's not even starting. If you pause it for too long, when having a phone call in parallel, it's being closed automatically. And yeah, sometimes, not often, it crashes.
So I am in the "desperate" need of finding a way to manually start this "reading feature".
There are several problems preventing that:
- this is not part of the official news app (which is not even required on the phone)
- it's not a seperate app on the phone
- a couple of weeks ago you could start it manually using the assistantg (Hey Google, read the current news)
- not even Gemini knows a valid answer (neither does ChatGPT or Claude, I asked them all)
Please note: I don't want to know how to enable it in the alarm app, I want to start the "reading app" (it's more a process or part of the alarm app) manually. I also don't want to install a different app or use Spotify/Deezer. Also I don't want to workaround it by setting an alarm for 1 Minute in the future. There must be a valid, user friendly solution that my "AI powered Smartphone" offers.

Prevent OPPO Find from switching on due to alarm

### How can I allow alarms to sound off while my phone is in a calling state?
When I'm not in a call alarms sound as you'd expect them to.
When I *am* in a ( Skype, Discord, Phone ) call the phone simply plays a "beep" sound instead of actually sounding off the alarm.
I have the Phone call alerts setting "notify during calls" enabled, but it doesn't seem to have any effect whatsoever.
I'm using the default clock app for the alarm, so it's fairly unlikely that it's an issue with the alarm registering itself with the system as an alarm ;p
I'm tentatively confident that this only started after updating to Android 6, but I don't actually have anything factual to back that up.
If it helps, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V
I've spent several hours researching this and thus far I've been unable to locate a solution. I feel like it might be related to an Android in-call audio policy, but I'm hoping it's not ( because that would mean that it's not something that I can change. )

I am running Android 12 on a Realme 8 5G phone.
This phone comes with the following clock application, which is separate from the Google clock application that can be downloaded from the Google Play store, which is similar, but seems to lack this feature. I am not sure about other clock applications. The application looks like this when opened:
This application has the feature that when you set an alarm for a time when the phone is off, the phone powers on and the alarm rings.
As far as I could tell, when the phone boots up and the alarm rings, the lock screen is on. This means, that as a special feature, wifi and data network from the notification drawer are not enabled (until the user logs in). This effectively enforces airplane mode. As such, this feature should be safe as far as phones going off while the phone is on a plane and turned off should go (because when it boots, the equivalent of airplane mode is in effect).
I am not an expert, but as far as I know airplane mode just temporarily turns out wifi and data network. If it does turn any other feature, this should be taken care of here.
I wonder whether it would be possible to select a "maintain airplane mode after unlock" as a feature on the lock screen.
This would mean, that, if, for example, a user is on a plane and the phone is turned off because it was turned off when they went on, and then the phone turns on after flight (for example to remind the user to take a medication or anything), then the user can also unlock the phone to take a note or do anything else while maintaining airplane mode.
This would be a feature.
Thank you for your answers.

I am using the default clock application on a Realme 8 5G phone to set alarms.
Today I remembered an important alarm I wanted to set. However, my companion was in bed and I did not want to wake my companion up.
Hence, I did not want to have the ringtones play when I selected them.
But I couldn't just leave the default ringtone because my companion doesn't like it. Thus I must select a different one so that it doesn't bother my companion when it goes off.
My idea was to turn off the volume and select the ringtone by ringtone name (in silence). I might have them memorized by name or just want to wait till it goes off to hear it.
My strategy was to turn the volume off. However, clicking on the ringtone still makes me hear it.
Why doesn't Android silence the ringtones when I do this and select them, one at a time, in turn, from the ringtone radio controls?
Is there a way to select the ringtones without making a noise?
Thanks.

I have cleared the clock app cache, restarted the phone, reset all settings and restarted again all to no avail.
This is on a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, Android 14 and it is the native Clock app that came with it.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

So basically I'd like to get reminders for important events in a smart way. So looking for these features.
1. Should have an alarm option (both silent and loud).
2. Ideally, this alarm should be escalating (starts out with vibrate but then becomes loud if not dismissed)
3. Have a smart option where it uses your current location along with the location of the event to time the alarm (so you can get to the event on time if you leave soon)
For the first feature, there are a few hacks (make a long sound file as your notification) but I currently use this app for this purpose.

Does anyone have any suggestions for better apps/setups that would give me the functionality I want?
I was actually thinking of even making the app myself (would be first app)

But what happened with me is I set up an alarm and then I just cancelled it "but without deleting it or changing the date or the time" and I turned off my phone. But still it opened up exactly at the time I set up the alarm as if the alarm still active. I just want to understand why this happened? Is this a common thing in Android or it indicates to something else?
Also some of the alarms I set don't ring exactly at the time I set them to but after a couple of minutes or so. I also I don't understand why it's happening?
