After a factory reset of my Galaxy S5(same accounts and sim etc), some apps did not restore. I suspect it was the large ones I had moved to the SD card a while back for space reasons (I took my SD card out during the reset and restore process).
Looking in my files>SD card>android>data, there are plenty of apps that did get restored that have files on SD card, but it helped me pinpoint a few that didn't reappear. For example Excel. I then checked the app manager and there aren't there under SD card (though I might be confusing the inbuilt and external SD card).
On Play store>my apps & games, they obviously aren't under 'installed', nor even under 'Library', nor when i search for them individually do the paid versions show as already paid...
I synced my backups on google and Samsung accounts directly before the factory reset
My questions are:
- Where can I find out what I've lost? ie a list of apps as of yesterday
- Is there any way of restoring apps moved to SD card?
- If not, I might as well wipe the pre-reset data folder on SD-card, right?
- What is likely to have happened?
- Before any future factory resets, should I move everything important back to phone before syncing and resetting

I also saw a similar question here, but this is the AT&T version, not Verizon:

Towelroot doesn't work (just tried) and the SM-G900V isn't listed here: https://autoroot.chainfire.eu/
Anyone have any experience with this?

### How can I allow alarms to sound off while my phone is in a calling state?
When I'm not in a call alarms sound as you'd expect them to.
When I *am* in a ( Skype, Discord, Phone ) call the phone simply plays a "beep" sound instead of actually sounding off the alarm.
I have the Phone call alerts setting "notify during calls" enabled, but it doesn't seem to have any effect whatsoever.
I'm using the default clock app for the alarm, so it's fairly unlikely that it's an issue with the alarm registering itself with the system as an alarm ;p
I'm tentatively confident that this only started after updating to Android 6, but I don't actually have anything factual to back that up.
If it helps, I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900V
I've spent several hours researching this and thus far I've been unable to locate a solution. I feel like it might be related to an Android in-call audio policy, but I'm hoping it's not ( because that would mean that it's not something that I can change. )

I'm going overseas soon and bringing my "usual" personal phone, a Samsung Galaxy S5, with me. I mostly just want to use it for Internet access. But one of the reasons I'm bringing my own phone instead of buying a temporary one is just in case there's an emergency I want to be able to call and text with my regular number. I don't want to get most calls and texts on vacation though! Is there a way I can turn off calling and texting from my phone but leave WiFi and NFC working? Just turning off receiving would be best but turning off sending would be fine too.

I'm using Samsung Galaxy S5. At my place of employment, Wi-Fi is provided (a free version which isn't locked, and a version which is locked). It keeps connecting to the unlocked Wi-Fi network. I don't want to connect to either. I want to control which networks I connect to and when, whether they are free or not (especially if they are free as I imagine that's how hackers get access to your personal info).
I went into Settings -> Connections -> Advanced and turned off almost everything I could think of, but it still scans for networks and connects to the open free network.
How to stop the phone from automatically connecting to a Wi-Fi network and instead only connect to a Wi-Fi network when prompted by me?

I just bought a new Google Pixel 6a (recently priced lower than pixel 5a) and after a few days of use I am starting to wonder if there is a fundamental system (either hardware or firmware) flaw with Pixel 6a: I am NOT able to connect to certain phones. The symptom is very similar to "poor network connectivity" but it's only on my Pixle 6a. When I try calling my room-mate who has a rather older Samsung model, majority of the time it goes to voicemail without connecting at all while he is in the house and is able to receive calls from all other phones (including my old Samsung s7). Same in either direction. Other phones we use (all Samsung) and my other room-mate's pixel 5a do not have this problem. We've carefully verified it, very clear and repeatable problem verified on two older separate older Samsung model phones. Both were mostly unreachable from my Pixel 6a going straight to voicemail or silence and call dropping all together. We've troubleshooted with T-mobile and tried switching the phone preference from 5G to LTE etc. on the phone preferences, no difference. I have been looking around but don't see anything specific on this. Anyone else have cellular wireless connectivity issues with Pixel 6a?

Can you reset private mode on a Samsung Galaxy S5?
I set up private mode when I first got the phone, but now I can't seem to remember the password; it's none of my usual ones. Is it possible to reset (read: wipe) private mode and start over, without having to factory reset the whole phone? I have root, if that helps.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 phone with a broken screen. I'm trying to get a full system image that I can then flash into a brand new Samsung Galaxy S5.
I know that it is possible to clone one phone's system and configuration into another phone (e.g. using the procedure described [here](https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/127952/is-it-possible-to-clone-a-phone-then-flash-image-on-other-phones)) . However, that process assumes a fully working source phone.
How could I extract a functioning, flashable system image from a phone with no screen?
FYI: the source phone has USB debugging enabled, so it is possible to access it through adb.

After some research I found that 850Mhz is disabled in my phone, I tried to enabled it with the code: *#197328640# but no luck. This code seems to work only with S5 but not with S5 Active. I don't have even DEBUG SCREEN menu if I enter this code.
Any suggestion how can I enable 850 3G in my phone?
I also tried to connect to my phone from terminal:
$ adb shell
shell@android:/ $ am start -n com.android.settings/.BandMode
After entering these commands, I got to the menu in my phone:
Set GSM/UMTS Band:
but there were no options to chose. I believe somehting is blocking me from changing the band.
Please help, I can't use 3G until I fix it, it seems that mine other chinese phone works much better than Samsung S5 Active.

Since I installed Lollipop on my Galaxy S5, my phone is trying to reboot itself randomly approximately once a week. But it gets stuck on the boot-up logo screen then, only showing the word SAMSUNG there.
If I don't do anything about it, the display is lit up with the logo, until the battery is completely emptied (the battery-graph will show a gap for that time later, not telling me what could have happened). This is especially very annoying at night, since I use my phone as an alarm-clock ;)
Does anyone have suggestions about it? Anything to disable that may cause these spontaneous reboot-attempts?
* The phone is not branded
* I did not root it
* I already tried to 'factory-reset' my device
* Everything worked fine prior the Lollipop-Upgrade

I've had my Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 for many years now and I have occasionally used the built-in "IR Blaster" with the Peel Remote app. Now I have a more pressing need to use this, I found that the Peel app no longer shows any remote configured, and when I go to set it up, the only options offered are to connect to a ROKU device via bluetooth or to setup a 'Pronto' external IR Blaster device. This tells me that Peel no longer 'sees' the internal IR circuit.
I compared this to my Samsung S5 phone which also has an IR blaster built in. Peel Remote app on the phone correctly sees the IR Blaster, and will change channels, etc. On my proven Samsung S5 phone, I downloaded a simple 'remote control' app called ASMART Remote IR, which I then configured it to control my Vizio TV. Worked. I downloaded the same App onto the tablet and it failed to work (no error messages, just failed to work).
I figured some combo of apps / settings had messed up the tablet so did a factory reset, and chose NOT to restore any prior apps or data - a totally clean start. On this clean tablet, I then installed Peel again; but again, it did not 'see' the local IR blaster, and offered to setup a Pronto device (which is a 3rd party IR Blaster). I also re-downloaded the ASMART app, and it also failed to work.
So I'm baffled as to what could have happened (other than the IR blaster circuit is dead).
Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
Edit To Add: looks like the Android 5 (lollipop) upgrade from Samsung removed support for the IR blaster. So I may have to downgrade to Kit-Kat (Android 4). Darn. There's some suggestion out there that this can be made to work, but I haven't figured it out yet. I guess it's time to get a standalone IR device that talks to the phone wirelessly.

and thanks for reading this. So I've had an S5 for just over a year now. As it has an AMOLED screen, when you turn the brightness all the way down, the screen will flicker a yellow-green. This happened whenever the screen would dim on standby, and it seemed that it was normal. However, now, when I power it off, the screen does the green flicker when it's fading out. This did not happen before.
On top of this, sometimes the screen simply will not turn on. The phone is on, the lights are on, but I'll press the power button, and nothing will happen. I'll keep pressing it, and eventually it will turn on, but this could be part of an underlying issue. If anyone has any ideas, please do tell me.
Also, smaller issue: woke up one morning, and a notification came up at 3 AM saying that I was running out of storage space. Is my phone trying to kill itself?

There is a well documented phenomena of Android users getting charged for data roaming abroad when data roaming is explicitly disabled on their phone. `So-called ghost-roaming (Geister-Roaming).
In our case, Android 6.0.1 (Samsung S5) we got billed 4 bucks on multiple days each for 60KB (yes, kilobytes) even though data roaming was off. Apparently 4 bucks is the minimum charge per day. The fact that it's always exactly 60 KB shows it's some sort of system/systematic data download ignoring the setting.
The network companies refuse to budge because they say it's a bug with the phone. IMO it's a scandal.
What can we do to utterly shut down any data roaming?

so I just got my phone today and had it unlocked. So- it got rooted. I don't think that's the problem though. Anyway I tried to connect it to my laptop and HAZZAH- Nothing happened. It didn't get detected. For a second it was installing the driver then after that nothing happened. All I've been doing for the past 2 hours was uninstall drivers and reinstall them and nothing even happened. Right now I'm just using AirDroid, but since sometimes I don't have WiFi I really need the USB Cable thing to work. No idea what to do anymore. I also tried Kies, and it wasn't detected. Apparently my phone was incompatible. I checked and it was. So that really confused me.
For some reason, when I go to **storage**, it doesn't allow me to go any "menu", since the menu button has now been replaced with a recents tab.
By the way, it shows up in Devices and and Printers as an **unspecified device** and is named **SAMSUNG_Android**. If that is any sort of relevance.
Just to clarify, I've done the following:
1. Restarted my phone AND laptop
2. Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers
3. Changed which USB port it was in
4. Unchecked tethering
5. Enabled USB debugging
If you are to help me and have any knowledge on what to do, or feel like I did it wrong, please let me know how to do so with step by step instructions. Thank you and have a good day everyone!
